Yeah - many thanks to @ravenvii - it was fun and I too don't think we'd lost yet - although mission 2 being successful made it considerably harder. I think we did pretty damn well to only have 1 fail vote from the 3 spies on that mission :)

@Don't panic, @WoodNUFC - yeah I didn't want 2 failure votes - so hopefully 2 of us could keep undercover - so I voted success.

The thing with Wood's initial goof. Although I knew it really didn't affect anything since there was only 1 spy in that mission and I knew at that point the mission would be successful I couldn't say that - from anyone else PoV I could see there was an issue - since 4 people (2 of them on the team) potentially knew Wood's vote before they submitted their own. This is what I thought the issue was - but then Twietee didn't seem to know what Wood's original post was which confused me. I think it could have been dropped once the mission 1 results were known though - but on going discussion about it ended in the after shock that revealed Twietee as an agent which was a blow to the spies but one I think we could have recovered from.

The Open Up misplay I'm not sure if it helped or hindered us. I guess if it had been played correctly Wood would have had to open up to me, DP or Moyank so we'd have reason to bring her into the team meaning we'd have 2 spies semi-cleared but we'd have lost both of them if Wood was found to be a spy which would have changed tactics - as we'd have tried to keep the Wood/X spy group whereas now my thought was Wood could be sacrificed as it would then cast doubt on TechGod and give us reason to bring in more people - and hopefully get Moyank in a team.

Mission 2 being a success was a definite blow - I was thinking I'd misread you both until ravenvii sent his message that he'd made a mistake. I was trying to look for a reason to 'Yay' Wood's team (as I could then have simply voted fail) but couldn't really come up with a sensible argument - hence ending with the rather lame with lets force the people we believe to be the remaining spies to Nay it (too late as ravenvii posted the restart about the same time)

I knew that when we Nayed it, Twietee's team choice would undoubtedly have ended up with the 3 spies on the team again and we couldn't make the same mistake again so I was thinking I'd have to vote 'fail' that mission - then grab the 'A Close Eye' from Wood and used it to out him and hopefully throw doubt on TechGod. With luck DP and I would then go into the 4th mission and fail that - hopefully at least 1 spy would have voted success or we'd have been doomed.

i want to add one thing about the proposed changes by @ravenvii.

i think the misunderstandings at the beginning stem exactly from NOT sending out PMs with the roles.

i think it is important that EVERYONE should get an INDIVIDUAL PM about the role, shortly before the beginning of the game (or at the same time as the game begins)

it should be very clear:
"you are an AGENT and NOT a spy."
"you are a SPY. please reply to this conversation to vote, or for any other game-related PMs"

the issues at the beginning of both this game and the previous one were due to the asymmetry of only PMing spies, in the first one i didn't even know the game had begun, and fenris correctly deduced from this i was a regular agent. in the second twietee's claim he got a PM early on (which i guess was just in jest) and my and mscriv initial convo could have been construed by some as some sort of spillling the beans

in addition, that INDIVIDUAL conversation can be used for all communications between the GG and the spy, including voting
this would also significantly reduce the possibility of unwitting mistakes like the one wood did

That's why I am going to @ mention ("tag", like this @Don't panic) everyone at game's start -- if you didn't get a PM beforehand you know you're not a spy. Much easier for the GM, sending individual PMs is a pain :)

And I prefer the team members to send me a PM with their vote in the TITLE, that way I can just look at the message alerts and see the votes right there (the vote itself and who it's from). Much easier. And remember I have to manage a lot of the game from the phone, which is... unpleasant to put it very mildly.

Since I signed up, I'll play but with less time at hand (good for you I guess). Except somebody voices a desire to take my spot and play.

@mscriv, @Koodauw, @Don't panic, @Queen of Spades, @TechGod, @WoodNUFC, @Sythas, @Moyank24, @FenrisMoonlight, @twietee -- the game has begun!

If you didn't get a PM from me prior to this, you are an agent.

"Here's your badge. Welcome to the Agency," the man said curtly, thrusting the index card-sized badge into the spy's hand while he points towards the double doors at the end of the hallway. "There's a meeting going on. If you're as good as you say, they might find your help of use."

"-- we need to enter here -- " the speaking agent cut off as the man at the end of the table pointed a gun, with lightning speed, at the spy as the doors cracked open. The spy fumbled with the index card and showed it to the man upside-down, which was quickly corrected to the correct position. "I am, uh --"

"The badge is sufficient. We do not speak our names in this room. This will be the last time I will tell you this."

"Y -- yes sir," the spy quickly walked to the only available seat.

What have I gotten myself into? the spy thought. No -- I will not doubt myself. We need to take the Agency down, and I need to cut this out.

"Okay, we need to enter here --" the interrupted agent continued to speak, pointing to a entry point on the spread-out blueprint on the table, "-- and extract the diamond in the display case here, " the agent's finger moved to another location on the blueprint "that's all. Simple as can be. Great for the ten new agents here," the agent concluded with a hint of condescension in her tone.

"All right," the man at the end of the table stood up and looked directly at @FenrisMoonlight, "agent, you will lead this mission. Choose your team. Due to the simplicity of the mission, I expect results by tomorrow morning. Meeting adjourned."

The game has begun. @mscriv is the first leader. Choose three members to form your team. The rest of you, you know what to do

I kinda like that team.

@mscriv, here are your cards:

Eavesdrop
Establish Confidence
No Confidence

"I am establishing confidence!" "And nonetheless, I have no confidence in you!"

Sounds like a strip comic in the Sunday paper.

Team, you know what to do (remember, vote in the title of your PM to me, not the body)!

@mscriv, here are your cards:

Eavesdrop
Establish Confidence
No Confidence

Allright, anyone got any suggestions or strategies regarding how I should or should not assign the cards? I'll be heading to the gym and be out most of the evening, but I'll check back later tonight and see what you all think.

@FenrisMoonlight, I appreciate your summary posts for voting and game status. Thanks for doing that. It certainly makes it easier to keep up with things. :)
No problem - the script handles most of the work and keeps the link in my signature up to date. :)

Shame you didn't have any adjacent players in your team - we could have eavesdropped on one of the team members and no confidence'd the mission if we found a spy.

Not a lot to go on to decide how to give them out really. None of the team members are adjacent to me either or I'd recommend using Eavesdrop to clear me.

Eavesdrop to Koodauw would force it to be used on DP as using it on you wouldn't make any sense since we get you role from Establish Confidence anyway. It would mean we'd have info on 2 of the first 3 team leaders - might be useful.

These cards aren't great, but we can use the Establish Confidence and the Eavesdrop, together, to attempt to clear mscriv.

Mscriv,
You could establish confidence to QoS or me, and Koodauw can eavesdrop on you to verify those results. It might be the closest we can come to a solid confirmation.
