I bought this wireless charger: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KJL4XNY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

But it looks like it is sold out - the only one listed is: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Wirele...1-spons&keywords=anker+wireless+charger&psc=1

For the screen protector I ordered: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074YZD9HR/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 --- but still trying to decide if I want to go screen-protector-less this time around.

Okay thanks!
I think the 8+ is the exact same glass as used on the galaxy S8 and there are pages of complaints about scratches https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/help/screen-scratches-t3595784.
At these prices I'd be protecting for good resale value. Plus I'm a bit OCD about scratches!
Cheers.

I loooove my iPhone 8+. I came from the 6+, that had started giving me more than a few issues this past year, so I was looking to upgrade this cycle for sure.

I watched the keynote and wasn’t left with the feeling of I-Must-Have-This-Phone-NOOOWW!! for either the X or the 8+. That was a good thing because I was able to be a little more objective in evaluating what would make the most sense for me. Based on comparison of features, internals, and price, the 8+ was meeting my needs. I just needed to hold it in my hand and see how I felt about it after playing with it.

I was shocked at how beautiful the phones were with the glass back. The silver and gold options pulled me away from getting another space grey phone, my original first choice. Then I stood there trying to decide which color to buy. I eventually chose silver in 256GB. It was a surprisingly nice change from a black bezel to white since I browse, email, and text and on my phone and use it to play music/navigate in the car more than anything else. I adjusted quickly. I don’t care what others say, I just love the look and feel of the phone. The shape may be the same and the bezels are there as previous designs, but this does not feel like my 6+ at all!

My 8+ Phone Points
1) Battery life - I’ve been spoiled to good battery life with the 6+ and knowing the nightmare of Android phones at one point, I did not want to lose what I had become accustomed to. So far so good here.
2) Smooth - 3GB of RAM after just 1GB, I expected there to be noticeable improvement in speed. No stutters, no reloads, no crashes (so far).
3) Material Quality - The feel of the phone in my hand from the glass and overall weight. Love it. I’m glad they didn’t try to go “thinner and lighter”. This phone has the right weight for me... and I have small lady hands. I find myself slipping off the case to use the phone when I’m just lounging around home.
4) Build Quality - so far no issues with screen, clicking noises, raised glass, etc *knocks wood*
5) Speakers - I usually play music in the car or linked to my Bose speaker at home, so I didn’t realize how nice the bass (for a smartphone) sounded when playing music using the phone speaker. Sounded more like my iPad speakers honestly!
6) Camera - much better in low light. I’ve taken some very nice low light pictures at night where before I would just have to skip that time of day or force the flash and have the picture come out looking bright and noisy. Very pleased with this since I have an evening wedding reception and a couple of short trips coming up before the end of the year. Still need to play with portrait lighting, but I am really pleased with the camera so far.
7) Screen - I know it’s still an LCD, but this screen is much sharper and nicer than on my 6+. True Tone contributes, but I don’t think it’s just that. It looks better overall.

I was all set to upgrade to the 8 plus, thinking the X was too expensive, and had too many perceived downsides. Then two things occurred to me: 1. It would only cost me $10.35 more a month than I was already paying for the 7-plus (sacrifice one restaurant lunch per month), and; 2. I was comparing the known (8 Plus, which I played with in the Apple store) to the unknown X, for which my only information came from the launch event, various YouTube videos, and disparaging online (p)reviews by "experts". How could I decide I didn't want a product I'd never seen or held in the flesh?

So, while I think the 8 Plus is excellent (beautiful, really fast, and feels solid in the hand) I'm going to pre-order the X, and try it out in the flesh. (Literally, because I'm very intrigued by the smaller body containing the larger 5.8" screen.)
If I don't like it, I can return it to buy the readily available (especially by November) 8 Plus, and feel satisfied that I made a decision based on experience, and not speculation.

The iPhone Plus model takes time to adjust to the size, but the larger display, battery and 1080 P display are huge advantages over the 4.7 model. Also, I like landscape mode, which the Plus models have. Typing is easier as well.
Agreed. I love my 7plus. Though if the X is well received, next year I’ll get it.

I love the screen on the plus but the 4.7”-ish size is perfect for me.

Ended up switching to T-Mobile from AT&T. Could’ve kept my 7, but I’d really been itching for a larger screen.

Thought about going Galaxy Note, and was SO CLOSE, but I’m too invested in the ecosystem to change. (AirPods, Watch, Mac, etc).

Got the 256GB 8 Plus in gold. Loving every minute of it. So nice to finally have a larger phone. Took me a few years to want it :)

It’s just a phone but it’s a good upgrade moving from 6 to 8 though I don’t much like the haptic home button. Guess I’ll get used to it. Camera and video are big steps up though which is nice.

I’m still kinda torn whether I should get an 8+ or just stay on my 6S+ for another year. I’m really tempted to get this refinement of a phone along with most of the latest features.
I do enjoy Touch ID very much because being able to unlock my phone without holding it to my face is really convenient. I also feel like Apple needs to refine the iPhone X more before I feel comfortable upgrading. For instance including sensors and earpiece in the display would make it look very futuristic.

Would be nice to have the 8+ for two years and get the latest version of iPhone X in 2019 instead. We’ll see. I have no trouble with my 6S+ other than the degrading battery. That can be easily switched out though.

Before the announcement I was pretty much set on getting the X or nothing. But when the gold 8 was shown on screen I was pretty drawn to it. Then finding it shares the same CPU, main wide camera etc there wasn't enough for me to spend the extra for the X. Also after getting on the S model release schedule since the 5S I would like to stay on it, as they mange to refine it a fair bit, and the 8 is like a really refined 6.

Part of me thinks that if the wait is long enough for someone to receive the iPhone X, they might cancel it and resort to the iPhone 8 if they really wanted to upgrade. I think that will be interesting to see what happens in the long run once the iPhone X launches.

Coming from a 7 plus, I loved the littled things Apple did with this “small” update.

1. Standby time is awesome. 1-2% drain as opposed to 3-5% overnight drain comapred to my old 7plus.
2. Heat is basically gone. When downloading or just playing a mild graphics intensive game, my 7 plus would heat up noticeable (not uncomfortable) now its almost completely gone.
3. The raised volume and aide button is now easier to find and press.
4. The glass back really takes me back to my experience with 4s. Glad they’re back to premium-feeling. Improved signal as for my experience.
5. Finally, true tone. Its equivalent to finding the perfect soft pillow but for your eyes.
6. Improved dual speaker is actually discernible. The 7’s dual speaker somewhat felt lacking.

The more I use it, the more I’m liking it. I’d like to have an X but am not feeling cheated with my purchase AT ALL.

iPhone 8+ 256GB Space Grey.

Absolutely love it. First impressions - WOW this thing is very heavy. Noticeably heavier/thicker than my 6s+. Feels a lot more solid. The button isn't a button but sure feels like one with the feedback. I like it. Wireless charging works like a charm. Phone is a LOT easier to use nekkid but you get fingerprints on the back so I slapped on my Anker Breeze Karapax case - wireless charging works perfectly still.

Easier to see screen outdoors. Loving going back to black from a white 6s+. It is noticeably faster than the 6s+ but the 6s+ is by no means slow.

Battery capacity is 2752 mAh (coconutBattery) - way over the design capacity of 2675 mAh! Woo hoo.

I did several calls to try to replicate the crackling issue reported in the forums - even had a 23 min call with my mom. Looks like my 8+ is crackle free.

Screen is just incredibly pleasant to look at - True Tone.

Best thing I love so far? Setting my phone down on the wireless charger and the fact that the black case and black phone is just amazing (black is my favorite color).

I thought that too! I've never had a + so it was a combination of 'Wow the + phones are HEAVY' and 'Oh the 8+ is EVEN HEAVIER'. It's a little bit of an issue for me, but nothing a few trips to the gym can't sort (joke). I agree it feels a lot more premium, I never liked the lightweight feel of the other phones, although I did get used to them.

Wireless charging wasn't the main reason I decided to go for the 8, but it sure as hell is handy isn't it!

I also haven't really noticed much of a fingerprint issue on the back with the Gold colour, then again, I don't really inspect the back!

It's a great phone though! :)

I love my 8+...and that’s coming from the 7+. 64GB is perfect for me. I still had almost 80GB left on my 7+. I wanted a black face this year so I got the Space Gray. I have no problem with the models being the same. If a 7S would have launched with just a few internal upgrades I would’ve upgraded anyway so I don’t have an issue with the 8.

64GB is perfect for me too! 256GB is just overkill, I'd never fill it!

I'm ANNOYED that they haven't made all the iPhones with a black front, I hate the white look but I love the Gold colour on the back so I had to compromise.

100% if they had launched it as a 7s instead of an 8 it would have gotten a much better reception.

I hate those types of screen protectors cos you can see it around the edge! I ordered a full screen one, that covers the whole front but if I don't like it I'll just go screen protector less! I've never had a screen protector on my phone anyway, so idk why I'm bothering now!

I think there are those people who are waiting to see if they can get the X within a reasonable amount of time and if not they'll go for the 8. 8 sales won't stop, I feel like they're just gonna be spread out more compared to other iPhone releases because of the X

Coming from the 6S, the size of my new 8+ is taking some time to get used to, but I still love it...

However, is anyone having issues with old iTunes nagging you to upgrade to 12.7?

I initially hooked up my new phone to my server (with iTunes 12.6.x), but it told me to upgrade to 12.7. Since I didn't want to loose my apps, I hooked it up to my desktop with the new iTunes. Now my server's iTunes keeps giving a dialog to upgrade for the 8+. It wouldn't be so bad if the dialog would go away by hitting cancel, but it just keeps coming back. So now I can't do anything in iTunes unless I force quit. Also, I think it isn't letting me Wi-Fi sync to my desktop.

Any advice would be helpful.

Still a cool phone none-the-less.

"Actually?"

Yes, I am satisfied with my purchase. The 8+ addresses many of my issues with the 7+ and is a tangibly better product.

Wireless Charging, speaker loudness, camera, slightly better bluetooth range have all been assets in my daily usage. True Tone has grown on me as well.

The stereo speakers has to be my favorite feature. I always use my speaker phone for calls, unless it's private. And the louder speakers is really nice to have in a noisier environment or when I have the phone stationary, where I can walk around and still talk/Hear somebody from a distance with the speakers.

Was listening to Star Trek theme songs yesterday and noticing wow this sounds absolutely amazing. Agreed! Indiana Jones on the 8+'s speakers is AMAZING :)

I’m loving my 8+. I upgraded from a 6s and this is the 1st time I’ve had a plus model. The speed of this device is incredible and loving the extra battery life.
I’ve only had the phone 1 day now so can’t say much more than that.

Having used the phone for almost 20 hours --- WOW The battery life is amazing. I popped out my bluetooth keyboard and wrote a 30 min journal entry on it while listening to music -- the bluetooth is stronger than the 6s+, and did some Macrumors reading to find that I was still at 95% battery life. My 6s+ would have been in the 80% range.

The battery life on this thing is amazing.

I agree with this. It's incredible. I went around 24 hours without having to charge it and only charged it because it was 11% and thought it was about time. It's incredible.

I came from a Samsung S7 that couldn't even make it 6 hours without dying! (It definitely had some sort of battery issues, I'm sure)

Another interesting observation is that the 8+ seems to receive a stronger mobile signal vs. my 6s. I had them side by side and had full bars on the 8+ whereas the 6s had 3.

So pleased with this phone, it has been a worthwhile upgrade for me.

I was on the fence about x or 8+. I've had my 6+ since launch and it was really showing it's age and installing iOS 11 on it basically crippled it. After comparing the X and 8+ I pulled the trigger on the 8+. I love it! While it would be nice to have the edge to edge screen I just can't get behind the design choices Apple made with that notch. Also, all the UI compromises to make that screen happen really bugs me. Maybe next year when the product has matured a little I might reconsider.
