My only complaint so far, and I don't know if this is an iPhone 8/8+ issue or iOS 11 issue, but my bluetooth won't stay connected to devices such as my car, portable speakers or my headphones. The bluetooth keeps disconnecting and reconnecting every 1-3 minutes over and over and over. That is kind of annoying, especially when I'm trying to take a call in my car and the call keeps transferring from my car speakers and mic back to my handset back and forth endlessly. Other than that "minor" super annoying issue, the device is great and I have no regrets no waiting for the X.

I have one bluetooth issue and it is very minor in the grand scheme of things. I cannot get it to maintain a connection with an app that I use with my radar detector. It sees the connection, says it's connected but doesn't register. I've seen a couple of other instances of bluetooth issues reported, so maybe it's iOS related?

I thought I was going to have another issue with a bluetooth headset I use for business calls, it did just what you described. I wiped out the pairing, re-paired and it's worked ever since. All other bluetooth devices I've got, so far (knock on wood) have been able to keep and maintain a connection.

It's likely safe to assume you've blown away the pairing connections with these devices and attempted to re-pair them?

Hope you get this sorted out sooner rather than later.

I took a pic in Target today with the 8+. It was of a lighted display for the iPad and viewing down the isle. It looked pretty good. So, I took the same pic with my 6s+ and the difference was significant. The 8+ pic was twice as good. My 6s+ pic was dark and colors were off. Brownish tint. My outside pics with my iPhone usually look pretty good. But, these inside ones were very poor. Am not a photographer, so these were taken with just the default, auto settings. The screen was gorgeous. I didn't care for TruTone. Text quality seemed equal to my 6s+. Speakers were great. I didn't plan on buying a new iPhone yet. But, if the 7 Plus has same camera, I would not be opposed to buying one. Not sure of screen quality btwn the 7+ and 8+. That would be a factor in deciding which one to buy.

Yeah, I dumped all the prior connections and re-paired everything, no joy. I’m going to try an erase and restore and see if that works but was trying to avoid that.

I think the 8 is brilliant so far. I wasn’t originally going to upgrade from my 6s but over the last few months I’ve been experiencing some serious battery drain and managed to get a great deal on the 8. I love the gold colour, the camera improvements, the speed of everything, and the glass design!

Just enrolled in Apple upgrade program and got my 8+ today! Will activate when I get home from work.

As much as I like the aluminum used on the prior iPhone, I think the glass is actually going to be a better overall in the future. Not just because for wireless charging, but it does give you a better grip with your hands, as the aluminum can be fairly slick in the hand at times.

I was originally hoping like anything for Touch ID before the X announcement. Then I saw FaceID only along with that notch. I started thinking about the new screen technology and Apple's track record with new screen tech, particularly ghosting. I figured I would wait to see what the general feedback would be from Early adapters which I usually am one. As that demo of the iPhone X kept going, and I saw all the extra gestures and basically relearning new habits with the hardware and OS. Then they announced the release date and the rumors of limited quantities......I'll hold off for Gen 2 or 3, there appears to be a number of things that will need to work out.

I upgraded from a 7 to the 8 Plus and am VERY happy with my purchase. I also plan to purchase an LTE Space Black Apple Watch, but those are hard to come by right now.

What I love about the 8 Plus is the screen Real Estate for spreadsheets and data input. I love the added weight as many mentioned....it screams quality. I also went with the Space Gray which I always go for the black or gray versions of anything Apple releases. The speed isn't the noticeable difference as much as the batter life and camera. Luckily I don't have the phone crackling, and I have tested it a lot. Overall, I am very happy Apple gave us these choices. I could care less about the naming, I just wanted the best device I could get my hands on, and by far for me, this is the best on the market.

I swore I wouldn’t buy another iPhone after they dropped the headphone jack but my venture with android lasted mere days and I was back home in a new ip8 + and beyond impressed with it

I’ve activated my 8plus and really like the heft compared to the 7plus. Fits my ringke air case perfectly butfeels more substantial and I like it. Got 256gb model so my video setting are the highest it can be. Imma shoot some 4K soon and test out the camera in the daytime.

Anyone have a noticeable screen click on the top part of the phone by the ear piece?

I do - or I did, until half an hour ago, when I checked for the click again and it clicked once, a tiny bit louder than before, and now it's completeley gone. o_O Hoping it stays gone, since I'm really really happy with my gold 8 Plus apart from that (and the crackling earpiece during calls). Update: Clicking is back. Hm.

My last iPhone was a 6 Plus, which I traded for a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and then a Huawei Mate 9. Both are great Android phones but the 8 Plus just feels more... mature compared to them. I enjoyed my 2 year Android excursion, but returning to iPhone feels like returning home. I had the 4S, and 5S before the 6Plus. I was set on getting the iPhone X before the keynote came around, but the "oldschool" design with bezels and a home button of the 8 just won me over again. I spent 6 months without a home button and very slim bezels on the Mate 9 and I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would.

All in all, the 8 is a gorgeous phone with an amazing camera and battery life. I'm hoping we'll be getting an 8S next year - would definitely consider getting that over the X 2018.

I upgraded from the 6 to the 8 Plus and have been very pleased so far. The size of it takes a bit of getting used to but the screen is great. As expected it's way quicker than my old phone, the battery life is great and the camera is brilliant. I've picked up a couple of inexpensive Anker Qi pads and they are so convenient to use.
No regrets from me. :)

I've got an irritating little glitch when connecting to my car with bluetooth audio stuttering for around 30-60 seconds but it works fine once the initial connection has been made.

I'm coming from a 5s and couldn't be happier with the 8. I didn't want gen 1 of the X, and playing with the 8+ in person confirmed my original thought that the plus phones are too big for me. I don't take photos or videos very often (I have 2 photos from the past year, both taken at the same time, and zero videos).

The touchID is instant and I've had zero failures with it so far. I use it for apps as well and, it just works. The 5s had a huge delay and though it worked 95% of the time for me, a little bit of sweat or dirt and it didn't work at all.

No UI lag, opens apps instant, screen looks good, and the battery is great. My 5s battery was good especially for the age of the device (still lasted me all day unless I was gaming on it), but this 8 stays at 100% throughout the entire workday. Even going home and playing on it for a little bit and using it for hours, it's still around 70% at the end of the night.

Wow, you must really use your phone rarely. Its great that you’re able to get such a “catch” with the iPhone 8.

Yeah, I went from a 6 to an 8 (no plusses here), and I love it so far. It just feels lightning fast when doing everything compared to the 6. I'm not the wake up at 3am type to preorder, so I was worried I wouldn't get the X until Dec-Jan, and like a lot of other people have said, Apple does best with second-gen devices, so I wasn't sold on getting the X right away. The 8 feels like a fantastic stop-gap for the XI or maybe even the XII (or whatever), and I'll be very happy with my 8 until then!

The only problem I've had with it is also BT related, making calls from my car the audio is very low. I have to raise the volume up all the way. But music through BT through the car is totally fine, no issues with that at all, and audio level is fine.

Do you have links to the Anker Qi pads you bought?

So I read most of these posts and it appears that majority of people went with the 8+.. Which I also did. I got the 8+ Gold 256.. and I have to say I love the phone and how fast it is, the camera, etc. BUT I am debating whether or not to switch to the regular 8. I wanted to give the plus a try, because most everyone I know has them now. The screen is nice! I am having trouble getting past the weight/size. Mainly the size though. I have small hands and I knew that going in, yes. I am not complaining, just not sure the plus is the right one for me. But I will give it a few more days. I see a lot of people who went from regular phones to the plus.. I did it mainly for the better camera, but I am seeing that the 8 camera is also pretty nice. Size is the only thing leaving me unsure, love everything else. In past years I had always said I'd never want a plus phone, so maybe it's just not meant for me. Anyone else on here considering downsizing from plus?

Coming from a gold 6s Plus to a gold 8 Plus... I'm 1000% happy. Quality product with a proven design that I'm happy with.

I dropped the X from consideration about 14 seconds after the keynote. Not interested in Face ID... the notch... or the smaller/narrow screen.

I'll reconsider the X when I see what v2 or v3 has to offer. Making an X Plus with Touch ID would be a step in the right direction next year. In the meantime I'll fully prepared to run the 8 Plus for 2 years.

The new gold is gorgeous too BTW.

I know this isn't exactly what you're asking, but I MUCH prefer the size of the 8 over the Plus. I really think it depends on the individual use case though. I don't watch a lot of movies / videos. I do some browsing on it, but if I'm home or at work I'm generally using the iPad Pro or laptop anyway.

My primary use cases for any phone are connectivity, photo / video, and some limited social media apps. None of those really justify the inconvenience of the larger form factor for a little more screen real estate.

The only think I wish the 8 had was the dual camera. Even that isn't enough for "me" to justify lugging around a larger phone, and thankfully the camera it does have is pretty fantastic.

In all honesty, I'm hoping to liberate even more from the phone when the new LTE watch arrives. Knowing I can be reached in case of emergency, etc is all I "really" need on the go the majority of the time.

Amazing how dependent we have become on being "connected" in such a short period of time. Sometimes I miss the pre-cell phone days, when if someone couldn't reach you they just assumed you were out instead of assuming you're dead, lol.

I’m also very happy with my 8. Upgraded from a 6 plus and the jump was significant in my opinion. I’ve got the features of the last few generations as well as some of the new ones for the 8, it’s much faster and I wanted to downsize again anyway. I won’t be upgrading again for 2 or 3 years again, providing I can avoid the temptation when the new version of the X gets released in the next years or two.

The main thing that put me off the X was the £999 price. I personally don’t want to pay that much for a phone. Certainly not at the moment anyway.
