Have not used the headphone jack in years, been bluetooth all the way.
Well, statistically speaking its hard to say how that extrapolates beyond the somewhat different/limited type of users that are here, compared to the general user population. Beyond that, majority or not, when millions of people are involved, even a relative minority can still be in the millions.Well 61% on this thread said they didn’t care, so at least I’m with the majority for a change!
Can't say I've ever had that happen, or even known of someone personally who had that happen. That isn't to say that it hasn't happened to someone out there. That said, it's probably that much worse if something of that type happens to the single lighting port given that then aside from not being able to use a wired headset you'd also not even be able to connect to your device or charge it.Also, don’t you hate when your 3mm jack breaks off into the port?
Or the company you bought it from couldn’t wire the thing properly! Given my iPhone cost me £1200 I’d rather use genuine stuff with it.

Wireless changing + wired headphones. Doesn’t that tick the box?
Loads of things!Just another thing to carry around with you... again, not cutting the cord, just moving it slightly... LOL
Let me ask you diehard Apple fans... do you ever find fault with anything that Apple does? Are you even capable of being objective and critical, or is it all about "supporting your team"?
Honest question.

Which one did you go with?Sure. I got my Apple approved dongle yesterday and it works just fine, I am on a conf call right now. Problem solved.

That's kind of what I'm curious about, which "Apple approved" one did you go with, especially for such a price? Last I heard only the Belkin one was basically "certified", and that was in the $40 range for just a single one.I made sure this one was the "Apple Approved" one from Apple, got a two-pack sent from Amazon, for when I lose one. $22 shipped from Amazon Prime

My bad, for some reason I thought this was about the Lightning splitter connector that would allow you to charge and use headphones at the same time. Yes, for the 3.5 mm to Lightning adapter there's the one that Apple makes and had it from the beginning essentially. This is really weird, because when I click on my order in amazon, it says the page is no longer there... It said they were made by Apple.
You could try this one, if the description is accurate, it should work...

I suppose it is a nice option for those whom still wish to use it. However, the removal of the jack has got to make room for an extra sensor or two - which provide additional functionalities.
Also, don’t you hate when your 3mm jack breaks off into the port?
Two years on and I still can’t find my dongles. I’ve bought several over the years and they still keep vanishing.
I have a pair of Bose wireless headphones but I also have four pairs of high-end corded headphones.
The high-end headphones are collecting dust not because they’re not any good or relevant anymore but because I keep losing my dongles.
In my opinion omitting the headphone jack is nothing more than forced obsolescence. Apple's strategy of leaving off ports and features and claiming they are steps forward is dubious. I think it is more cost related.
To me, it's really not about "moving forward". Wired headphones still outsell wireless ones. In my opinion wireless headphones cannot match the sound quality of wired headphones. At least not the ones I use.
The Bose are great, I sync them with my watch and use them at the gym. Nice to leave the cord at home. But other than that, I do not see a reason to leave the headphone jack off the phone.
No new sensors were added due to the removal of the jack if I’m not mistaken. If you have differing information please share!

That "wheel" technology from thousands of years ago must really be in the way of progress on all the cars and everything else that uses wheels.apple does a lot of stupid things but this isn't one them. as i've said on this website many times, there's no need for technology that's over 100 years old to be in a device today. time to move on.
it's stubborn ppl that just won't let old things die. we can't move on as a society until that happens...
initially I was pretty annoyed by the removal of the jack but since I switched to AirPods I can't imagine using wired earbuds ever again with my phone.
I hope you didn’t hurt yourself stretching that far. That "wheel" technology from thousands of years ago must really be in the way of progress on all the cars and everything else that uses wheels.![]()
Not to worry, it wasn't much of a stretch.I hope you didn’t hurt yourself stretching that far.
I suggest you read this article. Really good explanation with data on there.
