Actually, he posted that the release WILL happen next week.

Yes, upgrade your 4S and iPad 2 to 5.0.1.

pod2g only posts this if the release is imminent. He WILL release by next week.

I still fail to see where he (as in @pod2g) stated that it WILL happen next week. He only said with luck that that it COULD, and as I stated before I (and Dhelsdon) quoted @pod2g's tweet verbatim. There can be no dispute in what @pod2g has stated publicly.

Now you may very well end up being correct in your personal estimation/prediction, but in no way that I've seen has @pod2g stated it WILL.

Look, anyone on the Dev Team will not publicly tell you to upgrade to 5.0.1 (nullifying current 4.3.3 jb) unless they broke the code and have the exploit in draft. Only thing left to do is prepare a gm of the break, which takes about a week, sometimes less.
His post telling you to upgrade to 5.0.1 is his way of saying he will release imminently, cause he finished the jb exploit. Racoon ftw.

P.S. also helps to follow Ultrasn0w and greenpois0n

I don't know why I'm even trying, but I will say yet again:

@pod2g HAS NOT stated an A5 jailbreak WILL be released within a week. He has only said COULD. Period. Accept it.

And, like I have stated, you may in the end be correct. But in this moment you are totally 100% incorrect in stating @pod2g has said the A5 jailbreak WILL occur within a week. You put words into his mouth by stating so.

and, ps: If it was directed specifically at me, I appreciate the suggestion to follow the other two you mentioned. But no thank you; I really don't need to.

OK, pod2g has not 'officially' publically stated he will release the exploit within the week. What he did say was exploit could happen within the week. Then he tweeted to upgrade to 5.0.1, right after that. Do the math and figure out what that means. It means he WILL release within the week! That's his way of saying it. And why do you suppose someone like greenpois0n is stating publically, 'jb within the week'?

Either it's ready to go or it's not. If it were, he'd be releasing it already. If it's not, there's always the chance there will be some final stumbling block that delays it. Chances are, we'll have it within the week. But clearly he can't make guarantees.

Sure it's very likely the release will happen. In fact, I believe it will and am looking forward to it for my iPad2. I'm only pointing out that you (and probably without any specific intent) spread misinformation by indicating @pod2g stated it "will" happen within a week.

Once it hits the 8th day someone will invariably create a new thread and say, "but I read somewhere it will happen in a week. Why hasn't it been released". Or, "tomorrow is the seventh day and I read somewhere it will be released. What time will it be?".

In my book, it's always better to stick with facts in situations like this. "Could with a little luck..." is the only fact we have right now (along with a very small amount of adding to do the math).

Everyone who is debating . It has now been released by many jailbreak experts . The exploit is finished and is obviously undergoing final checks and is hoping to release next week unless maybe they find some bugs which make the work load longer. But the date is next week until we hear otherwise. They would not state this if they expected to take longer then the rough time given. :apple: the jailbreak team own. So show some respect

Man... I hate having to read through mundane bickering in threads.

That said.. I'm looking forward to the release--the tweets and updates seem to be very promising.

Show some respect - this from the person who just this morning declared that pod2g must have given up on an A5 jailbreak just because he posted about something else on his blog? LOL

Yes that was a thought but at the end of the day pod2g has done a great job with jail breaking so far' I was just a little upset when I thought their was no hope for the a5 but he answered my question. I have always respected their time and efforts to please us. Pop... You keep posting pointless posts to continue the bickering . At the end of the day pod2g is bringing out the jb next week we hope. So have a good day and stop wasting out time

pod2g advising people to update to 5.0.1 just means that the jb will work for 5.0.1 (not 5.0) and doesn't give us a timetable for release. Apple has a chance to release a newer firmware between now and the jb's release so he's saying if you intend to jb, update now.

Being that he stated "with luck", I wouldn't exactly bet on it being in a week (unless i'm feeling lucky :D).

seriously...one of most useless debates I've ever read.

it will come out, whenever it will come out.

Yep,Pod2g is telling us to update to 5.0.1 now for a few reasons.

1. The utethed jb is complete and ready for release in short order, which leads us to 2. You need to save the SHSH blob for 5.0.1 before Apple sends out an update of 5.0.2 which nullifies the untethered jb. If you don't save the blob and accidentally update, you are screwed. And 3. If you are still on 4.3.3 jb, you need to update to 5.0.1 before Apple releases 0.2, cause if you don't you screw yourself out of the 5.0.1 jb and are forced to stay on the 4.3.3 jb.

For people that can't survive without a jailbreak, save 4.3.3 SHSH blobs, update, save 5.0.1 SHSH blobs and then downgrade back to 4.3.3 for the time being.

Maybe I missed something, but I thought those (like myself) who have the 3G version of iPad 2 cannot downgrade iOS at all, even if they have the SHSH blobs saved? That's why I'm not updating for now. I hope that that doesn't screw me over when it comes to having a jailbroken iOS 5.0.1 in the future. I have saved all of the SHSHs that I can even with all of that. I would love to update my iPad 2, but I don't want to lose my jb, especially because of how I was feeling and acting waiting for Jailbreakme 3 to come out.

You don't need to update to 5.0.1 to save the blobs with Tiny Umbrella. It will save the blob for whatever the current iOS version is, even if you do not have that iOS version installed on your iDevice.

Take a look at tinyCFW from tinyUmbrella - it's made specifically for those of us with an iPad2 3G. It will allow you to downgrade to 4.3.3 when at a higher iOS version. From what I've read and experiences I've seen referenced it will allow you to downgrade (assuming, of course, you have your 4.3.3 blobs saved/available). I haven't used it because I haven't yet have the need. I do have my 4.3.3 saved and the special IPSW to do the downgrade if I ever have the need.

From what I understand you will, after all is said and done after the downgrade, be running 4.3.3 under the baseband from the higher version.

yep this. Just connect it and hit save ssh, check the log, it will have a bunch of could not save because it tries for different device types, but there will be one successfull for the 5.0.1.

I just did it for my ipad 2 which is on 4.3.3
