Yep, tinyumbrella
I tried using tinyumbrella but I got an error on install something to do with the jre ( java ) but I'm not sure why it occurred
Yep, tinyumbrella
Take a look at tinyCFW from tinyUmbrella - it's made specifically for those of us with an iPad2 3G. It will allow you to downgrade to 4.3.3 when at a higher iOS version. From what I've read and experiences I've seen referenced it will allow you to downgrade (assuming, of course, you have your 4.3.3 blobs saved/available). I haven't used it because I haven't yet have the need. I do have my 4.3.3 saved and the special IPSW to do the downgrade if I ever have the need.
From what I understand you will, after all is said and done after the downgrade, be running 4.3.3 under the baseband from the higher version.
TinyCFW is a god send!
Saved blobs through TinyUmbrella for 5.0.1
Just updated my iPad 2 3G from 4.3.3 to 5.0.1 through iTunes.
Downloaded 4.3.3 ipsw from Redmond Pie and created the custom build through TinyCFW.
Booted up Tiny Umbrella and started the server and ensured my 4.3.3 was found, then put iPad in DFU and shift restored the 4.3.3.
All in 10 minutes, quite a nifty tool!
How long did it take for you to create the custom build using TinyCFW? I was running that program for a few hours and it was stuck on that. I was able to download what it supposed to be the bbupdate file through TU website, but I am going to try again and run the program while I am at work and see what happens.
When I did it with my Mac, it only took a few minutes. There wasn't any progress indicator or notification that it was finished. Just look for the created IPSW file and see that it is about the same size as the original. I also checked the resource monitor to see that the CPU wasn't working with the program still, then just closed it down.
I'm trying it with Windows 7. I'll see how things are when I get home. Since I did download a bbupdate file from TU's website, I might go ahead and update to 5.01 and see if I can downgrade.
If I'm on 4.3.3 and have no blobs, I'm out of luck, right? I missed the signing window originally. I'm assuming that means there's no chance of going back if I upgrade, but I figured I may as well ask in case something magical has happened recently.

Does it work with CDMA?

I'm not feeling veru optimistic about about seeing a A5 jailbreak any time soon, at least after reading the following from pod2g's website:
A5 FAQ
How could pod2g have an untethered 4S and dev teams still haven't released tools to achieve this at home ?
The exploit I used to inject the untethering files to the 4S relies on having a developer account, and can't be released publicly.
It's the same reason why @MuscleNerd has an iPad 2 tethered jailbreak but couldn't distribute it.
So, we need to find a distributable exploit to remount the system partition read/write and to set Corona files at the correct places.
Why A4 version of Corona was easier to release ?
Because a tethered jailbreak is a good way to install Corona!
Why don't you do a tethered jailbreak then ?
A tethered jailbreak also relies on an exploitable vulnerability that we still haven't found yet !
pod2g, release this stuff quick, [your insult here], I've waited enough now.
If I could, I would !

I assume this was all true before he said a week, right? So hopefully it changes nothing, and is just an explanation for why A5 took a few more weeks than A4.
Honestly speaking, I don't think it will be long before it's released.
Remember they're looking for distributable exploit. So surely, once they've found one, coding for it to work as a public release shouldn't take long.
Then again, I'm sure it's a lot more complicated than how I've worded it.
@planetbeing, the legendary hacker behind iPhone Linux and lot of jailbreaks (see http://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=User:Planetbeing) has joined the A5 research!
The famous @MuscleNerd (http://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=User:MuscleNerd), the leader of the iPhone Dev Team, who did a lot of tests for Corona and whom integrated it and made it simple in redsn0w is willing to help also.
And last, but not least @p0sixninja (http://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=User:Posixninja), the leader of the Chronic Dev Team, and my partner for years on iPhone security research has started to code and fuzz the Apple sandbox.
We now have a dream team to find a path for a public release of the A5
jailbreak.
Cross your fingers.
Looks like its here at last
I wouldn't hold your breath. Someone else has said they're looking into it with the guys who have already been workin on it for a while.
I'm looking forward to it but let's not get ahead of ourselves![]()
They are all highly experienced in the aspect so it's impossible for them to fail.
Come on. Think about it clearly .
They are all highly experienced in the aspect so it's impossible for them to fail. If they fail this then apple has won. Never going to happen. They will all be searching for public exploit now so the speed will pick up once the public is found all the dev team has to do is pack it and check it and wolah" download time,
