Apple isn't "opportunistic."

Opportunistic implies that Apple moved into something quickly to take advantage of a temporary state. Chinese labor has been cheap for decades.

Funny that Sorkin would abuse the language that way.

I don't think it's possible for him to rest since he is dead. As in NO MORE.

Would you like someone making a movie about your Spouse/Parent/Child a month after they passed? What about 4 years?

IMO, that is disrespectful to the deceased. Steve Jobs can't even defend his name and reputation.

Time doesn't change anything. People that loved him will still miss him and people that hated him will still hate him.

16GB iPhone??? Enough said.

Mr Cook teamed up with Mr Young (Dr. Dre,) a person of very questionable character (Dee Barnes et al.) Could that possibly have been be a case of opportunism? You betcha!

This is bad reasoning. By your logic, every film, show, or book based on a living or dead person should be avoided. Hitler can't defend himself. Jobs can't defend himself. Lincoln can't defend himself.

If there's a story worth telling, then it's a story that can and should be told. It's that simple.

You like the idea of slave labor? Then paying ridiculous margins on a phone? It is true that Cook is being hypocritical. Your weak. I don't want to hear another word from you.

So you respect people who tell lies about someone?

Wow must be easy to gain your respect.

This is idiotic.

You're so caught up in the exact details of the quote that the actual point of it just completely escaped you. You missed the point of his comment. He wasn't blasting Apple purely on the wages and ages of the workers. He obviously used hyperbole (kids/$.17) to make his point regarding hypocrisy.

It is totally wrong regarding "children in China assembling phones for 17 cents an hour". Do you math please. 17 cents an hour is $1 per day, and $22 per month. It is IMPOSSIBLE ! You should multiply at least 20X.

I did the math. 17 cents a day works out to $2.04 per day (they work 12 hour days). And $53.04 per month (6 days a week).

What Sorkin said is still wrong though. The average minimum wage is around $350. per month.

So? I've been donating to Unicef for last 6 or 7 years. You want a pat on the back for doing the right thing? Jesus ****ing christ.

Actually there are far better charities than Unicef to donate to. They have a gigantic overhead and the German branch for example still hasn't used all the money that was donated to them for the Tsunami in Asia. That was over 10 years ago.

Recently Unicef sued a family in Germany for the full inheritance of a man that mistakenly forgot to include his brother in his will. All the money went to unicef to which the family objected, because it was a mistake that the died man tried to correct but failed at before he passed. Unicef appealed and lost again.

I was a donator to them too, but stopped that and investigate my charities now far more thoroughly before they get my money.

I donate to Unicef Denmark. They are very transparent.

Do folks really make 17 cents an hour in China? Wow!!!

So I know that's cheap and all... but that's what it is in China, and that meets minimum wage right?

Just because it's not 10 bucks an hour ... it doesn't mean Apple is ripping off people. Apple actually creates millions of jobs in China... I don't think it's right for the that guy to attack Cook in that way.
No, not $10-; but it should probably be $1.50 an hour... not 17 cents!

Maybe true, but Apple, as a big, powerful corporation, really turns the screws to suppliers. What, Foxconn takes a ton of risk and only gets $1 per phone?

I'm not picking on Apple. All corporations do this.

I don't know if we know if Apple does more, but that's besides the point. Also, anyone can bring money home, but still be exploited. Many or most of us are in that position.
Yeah they do put them in that position, but Foxconn didn't have to agree in the first place. But Apple should be a little more balanced. All companies should be. There is too much greed out there.

I like how the guy who has been here less time than I have had iOS 9 is going to sit here and question me. Lol. Cute.

Of course since we all measure how much we know Steve Jobs based on how long we've been a member to Macrumors.

If the worker work 12 hours per day and work 6 days, they won't make the minimum wage. They receive 2X payments for overtime hours.
