I would share what I think is your doubt about Jeff Daniels, until I had watched The Newsroom. Shows what the guy is capable of.

Your interpretation of doubt is a little off the mark. When you mention Jeff Daniels to a lot of people (especially with the recent release of a sequel) they naturally think of Dumb and Dumber. Jim Carrey is his costar in that film. I'm sure it was a flippant reference to that duo not any critique about his acting credentials. In any case, have you seen Jim Carrey really acting? He can be very good indeed.

I was pulling for Tom Cruise to be cast in this role from the beginning. While he surely would have been an unpopular choice (initially), he would bring a unique Jobsian intensity to the role! Sorkin was right.

Disappointing to me that it didn't pan out with Cruise.

I really think there would be a lot of people who skip the film if Tom Cruise was the lead character. I know I would. I can not stand the man.

Tom Cruise would have been an interesting choice. No matter his off screen personality, the bloke has a magnetic presence on screen who is a total professional when it comes to the craft. He can also act when he wants to. Watch Magnolia to see that Cruise could have pulled this off and probably with absolute brilliance.

But props to Danny Boyle for sticking to his guns. Fassbender is a fantastic actor and I'm intrigued by how he will play this role.

nobody cares. can we ban articles on this stupid movie already???
Agreed.

The next article I want to see should have the opening date and the movie trailer.

Until then... they need to hush.
Some people care. Some don't. Applies to pretty much any other article similarly where some people care about them and others don't. What a crazy concept, isn't it?

Some might, but then many others might go to see it at least partly because he is in it. Same pretty much applies to a lot of actors where some people don't like them for whatever reason and won't see their movies, while others do like them, and many others don't really care all that much specifically about the actors as much as they might about the story/film itself.

Where's the "You Must Be This Tall to Play Steve Jobs" Sign, when you need it?

LOL.....this story keeps getting better and better. Tom Cruise takes a break from blockbuster films to star in this totally uninteresting movie about the creation of an MP3 player and computer. People in Hollywood are really deluded about the public's interest in this guy.

Now a story about how he decided to use dumb alternative treatments when his cancer was still curable, a decision which likely caused his premature death, would be moderately interesting. At least as a Lifetime special.

Because it's not like popular/famous actors do all kinds of independent and other non-blockbuster movies (some of which become more known and better thought of than most of the blockbusters) throughout their career, right?

You're interest is not there. Your opinion is not a fact.

No not fact, but is based on recent events and I do see a lot of people backing away from this movie.

If the powers that be (the studios) thought this movie would generate lot of buzz, the movie would be made.

If Growups 2 could be made, then anything can be :)

I am tall by no means, but aren't tobey and Tom a bit too short to be steve? Steve was around 6'. Tom and Tobey are about 5'6"

My god I've never heard so much drama and fuss over casting a damn movie! It's not a freaking iPhone! By the time the movie hits the streets were all going to be sick of it!

I cannot stand Cruise and don't watch any of his movies. If he is lead, I would miss this one. Hope it sux in that case.

How many more signs are needed.....

Time to let this project go.

Maybe pick it up later, but the interest is not there for another Jobs movie right now.

A Sony security breach is a sign... ?

I'm investing in tin foil futures.

Be glad it's not Elijah Wood or Martin Freeman, who are each only about 3 feet tall.

It's not like they can do anything to make people look taller or shorter in Hollywood.

My guess is this movie will be similar to the iPod, iPad, iPhone 6+ launches wherein MacRumors users lauded these inventions before they came out, then completed reneged once it was out and they had a chance to experience them for themselves.

Right. But a movie about a guy inventing a computer and mp3 player, all the while denying his daughter's existence, would not be one of them.

Tom Cruise always puts up a good performance so i think he would have played a great role here. The whole Tom hate seems comical. Like its in style to hate the guy but looking at his film numbers people still watch his movies.

The story to make this movie seems more interesting than what the final product will be at this rate

I always see Tom Cruise as Tom Cruise in his movie roles which kills the viewer's suspension of disbelief.

Although Cruise playing Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder was awesome!
