According to those same hacked emails, the script is absolutely brilliant. A Sony marketer, who said it was going to be advertising hell, said Sorkin's script was a flat out 10. Oscar winning capable.

Just like The Social Network.

MR users have terrible taste in film.

Some people care. Some don't. Applies to pretty much any other article similarly where some people care about them and others don't. What a crazy concept, isn't it?

----------

Some might, but then many others might go to see it at least partly because he is in it. Same pretty much applies to a lot of actors where some people don't like them for whatever reason and won't see their movies, while others do like them, and many others don't really care all that much specifically about the actors as much as they might about the story/film itself.

way to take a stand there!

I don't know who should play Steve in this film, but playing the role of grammar police in this thread (since no one else has put their hand up) is yours truly:

You're interest is not there. Your opinion is not a fact.

You bolded your 'you're' but you're using it wrong[ly].

My guess is this movie will be similar to the iPod, iPad, iPhone 6+ launches wherein MacRumors users lauded these inventions before they came out, then completed reneged once it was out and they had a chance to experience them for themselves.

You sure 'lauded' was the word you were after?

If hackers can breach Sony, why is it so safe to use banking online and stuff like PayPal?

they will get breached too

So tired of the stories about this movie, well at least stories about who isn't in this movie.

How can you say this when the film hasn't aired yet?

We'd love in a pretty convenient world if all it took for a great film would be a good script.

That reminds me of the story where, during the times of ever-increasing anti-trust court cases against Apple, Steve parachuted out of a Stealth Bomber in an attempt to infiltrate the Samsung factory to steal the schematics of their secret LED designs in order to capture 100% of that market sector. During his descent, Bill Gates, p***ed off that the Surface Pro wasn't getting it all its own way due to people's ideas that the MacBook Air was a better bet (made all the worse by the fact that the two aren't comparable at all), sweeps down in a helicopter gunship, guns blazing, to take Steve out. Steve pulls out what looks to be a bazooka from his backpack, only for the close-up to show that it's actually a Mac Pro, which with the help of a solar panel on his parachute, he turns on and faces towards the heli. The extreme blast of hot air generated by the Thermal Core blows the Gunship off course, into power lines and it blows up immediately. And in a sarcastic voice, from the iPhone in his pocket, Siri chips up - "<tut>. Just shocking!". I think Tom Cruise would be PERFECT for the role...

Terrible idea. Not that he can't act... he's mostly great in things but looks nothing like him, sounds nothing like him, Completely different body and facial structure.

Fassbender is a much better fit.

Please no. For the love of all that's good, anyone but Cruise or McConaughey. Things could be worse though. It could be Tobey Maguire *shudder*

Not necessarily. If they have competent system administrators that don't allow 100 terabytes of data to leak out under their nose, then breaches aren't such an issue. There are ways of structuring your systems so that important systems cannot connect to the Internet and only web servers face the Internet itself. Sony's admins are incompetent, plain and simple.

Hasn't a new Apple Store opened or something?

Or a new app been released that MR hasn't reported on it? Or some new Manager hired at Apple headquarters? Or a new tv commercial been created? Or a new vending machine installed in Apple headquarters?

A Sony security breach is a sign... ?

I'm investing in tin foil futures.

Not the fact that there was a breech at Sony, but the fact that everyone they persue for the movie seemed has other committments or will not take the role.

haters gonna hate, but I love Tom Cruise as an actor

probably the best sifi actor of our generation: oblivion, edge of tomorrow, minority report, war of the worlds.
There is a reason he is casted for these roles

As opposed to stomping my foot and saying "I just don't care about this" (when it's much easier and more productive to just ignore it in that case)?

you're being a bit dramatic. Ignorance is not always the answer. you have to speak up sometimes. How many more rounds of actor rumors and drop outs are we going to go through before you get annoyed?

Because speaking up about lack of caring about something in the middle of a discussion that others who do care about it is somehow going to do anything? It's just inconsequential foot stomping at best.

Personally I tire of the Cruise. But he does sell tix. I don't think younger people care much for him, but this story is aimed at an older audience. People who are of the same era as Jobs.

In any case, while Cruise looks great for his age, don't ask the man to play a young Jobs. Always easier to make an actor look older, but younger always comes across as spooky and fake as hell.
