Ok I admit I LOL at first, but on further thought, Tom Cruise could potentially nail jobs if he kept his cutie ticks in check. Cruise would have to play an arsehole and I'm not sure I've ever seen him do it, but he certainly has it in him.

That said, I couldn't care less about this movie.

There could be a whole series of films:
  • Apple Jobs
  • NeXT Jobs
  • Pixar Jobs
  • iPhone Jobs

But frankly Tom Cruise is too short for the role. He would have been a poor choice.

So tired of the stories about this movie, well at least stories about who isn't in this movie.

----------

How can you say this when the film hasn't aired yet?

We'd love in a pretty convenient world if all it took for a great film would be a good script.
Because it's not my personal account of the script, but email exchanges regarding the script.

The only one i've been down for so far was Christian Bale. After that, these casting choices keep getting worse and worse. Michael Fassbender? He doesn't have a lively personality that would convince anybody of anything. Much less "this is how we're gonna turn a business around" and sell products to millions of people. Tom Cruise? Who would be able to watch this movie and not just see tom cruise?

Ugh...the idea for the movie was already bad anyway. The whole 3 product launches thing never really stuck with me.

----------

And i will say this...Steve Jobs has led such an accomplished life, i don't think a 90 minute movie could even do it. We need a tv mini series or something. Netflix. Come on. Pick this up and do it right!

When has his height really been something noticeable and especially distracting/odd in a movie?

He comes off fairly well in some similar style roles like the character he played in "Magnolia".

Because speaking up about lack of caring about something in the middle of a discussion that others who do care about it is somehow going to do anything? It's just inconsequential foot stomping at best.

I think tmz.com is what you are looking for.

And yes, my opinion matters. There's a name for people like you who don't want others to speak up.

Nah, I'm looking for Apple related rumors, news, and discussion, and I'm getting that. If there things that come up that I don't care about, like let's say an Apple store opening somewhere, which happens fairly regularly, I just overlook that story and move on (instead of let's say jumping into the discussion of that story among people who might actually be interested in it just to say "I don't care about this" or even go further and somehow pretend to speak for everyone and say that no one cares about it and this shouldn't be allowed here). Simple and rational too. In any case, this particular part of the discussion has gotten fairly off-topic, and there really isn't much more to say about it anyway.

Apparently you have never seen Days of Thunder, Lions for Lambs, etc.

Michael

You're right. I actually hadn't seen him in any movies until very recently. I randomly watched Jerry Maguire on Netflix and after that it kept suggesting more Tom Cruise movies and so I just watched The Firm. Neither was my favorite movie of all time, but they were both good, and he was definitely a better actor in each of those movies than those movies were good overall. Or maybe just good casting because he seems to play something very similar to what I've seen of him in real life (which is intensity). I think the only other film with him I had seen was Eyes Wide Shut, and I saw that a long time ago (whenever it came out), so it's hard to remember his acting, but I liked the film overall. Oh, actually I also saw Vanilla Sky a couple of years ago. He was good in that. I remember thinking the plot was a little convoluted, though. I remember the opening scene being really good--just him alone running down a thoroughfare in NYC. That was really cool. I have a very poor memory, which makes rewatching films a joy. I just rewatched Troop Beverly Hills on Netflix. It was even better than I remembered.

Welcome to the internet and to the information age. If the government can't stop reporting on the Snowden leaks, you really think Sony can cover this up with lawsuits? The websites didn't "leak" the info, they are reporting on the info, which is well within the legal bounds of journalistic practice today.

Well within the legal bounds, maybe, but not ethical. Publicizing the sensitive/valuable info is akin to reporting that the cops won't bust anybody from looting that Best Buy down the street. Reporting on Snowden is ethical, because that info belongs to us as "a government by the people, for the people"

Honestly, I would never get past the fact that it was Tom in front of me, but I won't deny that he could do a slightly on edge crazy tone that would remind me of Steve. lol

Heh, when I read that "slightly on edge crazy tone", I flashed back not to Tom Cruise but Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men. I almost missed that movie for not wanting to watch Cruise, but Nicholson's performance was riveting and I have to say Cruise was ok in it, the script had some nice lines for him and he made the most of them. Not sure he'd be right to play Steve Jobs though. I don't know if I even want to watch a movie about Steve Jobs. I liked watching the real Steve do keynotes, and I'm grateful for all the great gear I've got from Apple over lo these many years. That's enough for me.

When has his height really been something noticeable and especially distracting/odd in a movie?

Seth Rogen is 5' 11''.
Tom Cruise is 5' 7''. Probably even shorter.

It would look odd to have Wozniak towering over Jobs instead of the other way around.

Keanu Reeves for the role I say.

This is turning into one hell of a soap opera.

lol, make a movie about the making of the movie.

Now THAT would be a soap opera. Or maybe more like some opera buffo by Mozart. Der Schauspieldirektor (The Impresario) comes to mind. The funny part where singers take turns competing for attention, each trying to sing a higher note than was last attempted...

The magic of movies can usually make something like that a non-issue, as it has basically done in many other Tom Cruise films.
