My 12 mini since the last update has been dropping 1% every few days with no difference in my usage. Last week it was on 100% it’s now on 94% only ever use the 5w charger as well and I’m not a heavy user.

Just got off the support chat feature and they are sending me a replacement device and agreed it’s not correct behaviour despite the device reported no issues and was behaving correctly according to their tests OTA.

Hopefully the next update comes out soon and fixes what seems to be affecting a fair amount of people.

Purchased my mini on 01/01/2021 and have used 5w wired charging pretty much exclusively. There have been a handful of times where I’ve used my old Samsung wireless “fast charger” to get enough power so I can make it through the day (roughly from 40% to 70%). I’m on iOS 14.5.1 and my battery is still at 100%. Hopefully I didn’t jinx myself just now.

Wow, I might have to try them again. Mine was at 91% when I called and they told me to call back when it dropped more. Yours was still 94% and they’re replacing it.

Be insistent, firm but not rude; in my case I threatened to cancel Apple Care and hinted that my wife’s identical phone that actually gets used more is still on 100% and that I have a lot of Apple products and this isn’t acceptable quality, if they wouldn’t fix the phone and in the end I’m not even being charged for the issue as it falls under the regular one year warranty.

[…]my wife’s identical phone that actually gets used more is still on 100%[…]

That’s interesting to me because most of the people here having their phone’s battery health dropped significantly, also seem to be light users… I, on the other hand, am a heavy user who charges with the 20W fast chargers, yet my battery health is still on 100% after more than 6 months now. I never drain the battery completely, and I try not to charge it fully either (I’m usually between 30-80%).

79% launch iPhone 11, just dropped 2 % after the new calibration. I have AppleCare and so I’ll be booking an appt to swap.

I use a 5W wireless charger fwiw

I noticed that Apple uses either Sunwoda or Desay Corporation (I have the 12 Pro Max and Apple uses both) and I've noticed that from my experience, Sunwoda tends to not that great, battery tends to degrade. However the 12 PM that I have has the battery manufactured from Desay Corporation and it still standing strong since launch day and still over 100%. I can't speak of others but that's just what I noticed on mine.
Desay is who makes mine. I know this is about the Mini. My 12 Pro Max has had a pretty bad health drain since exactly Feb 26. (3 months owning the phone) That was 99%. Few days later I did have an unexplainable 100%-0% overnight drain. Even Apple store couldn't figure that out in early March.

Today is 6 months. Phone shows "90% Health" (Coconut and iAmzing both show 88%)
Many I see are having pretty bad to severe health / drain on the 12's. (Minis, regular and Pro's) Yet there others still showing 100% since launch day. It's all random and frustrating. No idea if certain models are causing battery issues, the battery is itself flawed. MagSafe charging is causing this...I just dont know, but something is way off with many of 12 phones this year.

I am getting abnormal battery health on my XsMax recently, lost 5% of the health since 14.4. Not sure what’s happening but it was at 100% a month ago.

Just experimenting;

5W charger used exclusively and kept SOC between 25% - 85%.
So far so good..

(Multiple iOS versions between above readings and there was one time I factory erased and did a fresh install via DFU mode)

My 12 Pro Max has dropped 5% in the past month all of a sudden. It’s not sitting at 95%. Bought the phone on December 2nd, 2020. Not quite sure if this is normal or if I have an abnormal battery. Apple support says the battery will only be replaced under warranty if it falls below 80%.

Do you have the Apple Care+ subscription?

since apple won't replace my battery until 80% im doing whatever i can to kill the health faster lol even letting my phone get overheated a few times. ive been doing a good job it seems as its dropped from 94% to 91% in 2 weeks. at this rate by aug i might be able to get it replaced for free lol

Launch day mini; charged with magsafe in Apple case every night - I’m at 87%. I run it down to 20% most days. I’ve been an iPhone user for over ten years and haven’t experience anything as poor as this.
Sounds like you got a faulty unit mate, or something or other has caused the battery to deteriorate much faster than it normally would.

Mine is still at 100%, btw.
