Survival of the fittest. Death to all ads.People want free content with no ads. That's not how it works. I want to see if people are so happy when half the internet is paywall (pay to view) content...
Agree. Apple isn’t a junk ad company like gurgle or fakebook.1 out of 9999999 things that Apple is actually doing well. As much as I criticize Apple lately, thank you Apple for this one, screw the trackers.

Not even close. That would buy you about a years worth of access. IF ISPs added $15/month to your bill, we could remove all ads from all websites, forever. Is the how much is each visitor is monetized with ad revenue at MacRumors for each month? Or are you making a hypothetical case?
But the issue isn't about us being exposed to ads. The issue is about the advertisers tracking us, they are stalking our online habits/data/profiles/patterns. That's what people don't like. The presence of random ads? No one cares. I see them all the time on MacRumors, never bothers me.My guess is that when people hear the option to have some ads or pay 5¢, they're going to do with ads. Many don't realize that's the direction we're headed. Content creators need to make money or they won't keep creating the content we want to consume. Either we pay them by allowing ads or we pay in another way.
protecting customer's privacy is one purpose. but another purpose is to push other companies to use apple's own ads platform, and to shift from free+ads model to paid model, so apple can make more profit from in-app purchase.
eventually, it is just a strategy of apple adopted to make more money, the intention is same as other company.
Advertising as the “economic model of the Internet”? Puh-lease. The malignancy of advertising is what’s slowly killing the internet.
Not that I mind, as long as I am getting good value. Most of the free stuff is crap anyways. The best content, either I pay for, or support through buying products, etc. But that is moot, because I do get the importance of advertising. And the cost that I am willing to pay to skip it all together. I, for one, believe services like Netflix, Spotify, could charge a lot more for the service of providing so much content - all advertising free. But they have their own pressures of acquiring new users, which drives them to keep the entry price low. Interesting times we live in.People want free content with no ads. That's not how it works. Shouldn't this read "In response, Apple defended the steps it took to defeat cross-site tracking"?In response, Apple defended cross-site tracking and said its customers "have a right to privacy."
People want free content with no ads. That's not how it works.
The pollution of all public spaces by endless, knowingly misleading adverts has helped turn this world into an economic charnel house and most people hate it. Therefore any escape possible, be it Ad Blockers or recording TV and then fast forwarding through the mind numbing adverts, is taken joyfully.
And if that's not how it works then it's broken and high time we brought things under control.
There is a market place in the world - that is fair enough. But the world is not a market place. The distinction between the two is rather important and one that we are in danger of forgetting.
