thanks for the tip, checking out now!!

no really thanks, i'm going to give this youtube5 a shot too.

my eyes have been opened to world of html5. lol. i hate those stupid flash video adds anyways. everytime one pops up safari would freak out.

it does even better.u see html5 video in quicktime windows inside safari.i LOVE it.

BTW I'm not supporting Adobe here. The release cycles didn't align to allow Apple to carry out sufficient testing. Had I been Apple, I would have done exactly what they did.

Yeah, and had I been Adobe, I would have done exactly what they did: Warn their users that there is an out-dated version of Flash Player with known security issues in this update and point them to the place where they can get the current version.

Apple, Microsoft and everybody else in the industry also advice their customers to update to the latest versions of their products. It's a common and good business practice, end of story.

But maybe some of the school kids here just love to hate Adobe because they believe that Steve Jobs put them on a Holy Jihad and now try hard to find something to feed their anger with instead of using their brains for a change.

not true.i hate adobe for my own reasons.like 100% cpu on crappy 720p flash video lawl.and 50% on 360p.are u kidding me ? plex uses 50% to play bd remuxes.cmon.

Time for the dinosaurs running Adobe to succumb to the inevitable, and let themselves be processed into fuel for Steve Job's helicopter.

Microsoft has shipped Flash Player with Internet Explorer & Windows for years. They just never had a current version of the Flash Player in their package.

I don't think so, I've never seen that. Anytime I've installed a fresh copy of Windows, I.E. or any browser that I use makes me install Flash, it doesn't say Flash is outdated, it says it's not installed, period.

The reason Microsoft doesn't include flash in installs is because they have Silverlight instead.

At lease they do in Windows 7.

...

Edit: Just noticed it didn't downgrade. No big deal then. Still, Adobe isn't whining or complaining, they're just informing users that they might not have the latest version.
The problem is with neither Apple nor Adobe. The problem is the alarmist column in ComputerWorld.

Nothing to see here. Move on.

although users who hadn't yet updated might assume that they automatically have an up-to-date version given that Apple bundles Flash Player updates directly into its operating system releases.

I consider myself above average tech savvy, even for this community. And I was never under the impression that it was Apple's Responsibility to upgrade my Flash player for me. And I'm positive if I asked my mother if she thought Apple's updater was responsible for upgrading Adobe Flash she'd just stare at me with a blank look.

So I'm not sure what the problem here is?

No flash after installing 10.1

Hello

I still have no flash after installing 10.1, how did you guys get your flash working again?

Thanks

Wait--Apple hates Flash?

I suppose I'd be more interested in this story if 10.6.4 had not turned my formerly lightning-fast MPB into a beach ball factory. For an OSX update that was, accordingly this site, "seeded to developers" a trillion times prior to being released, I wasn't expecting it to essentially break my computer.

So I'm back on 10.6.3, with the current version of Flash installed ;)

I'll stick with the version that's preloaded with 10.6.4--as an update would most likely break something (as is often the case).

Flash is outdated, there will never be a flashplayer that is not outdated. It's a dark chapter in the internet history, should have been shoot with IE6 long time ago.

Maybe apple should support flash, clearly if it's failing more and more, it's not adobe, it might be the new OS update you guys just got designed to make flash even more hated by the apple fanboys/girls.

Flash is included in Windows XP. Here is the file listing of a Win XP Pro w/SP3 i386 folder:
Code:
D:\I386>dir flash*
Volume in drive D is .........
 Volume Serial Number is .....

 Directory of D:\I386

08/04/2004 05:00 AM 1,392 FLASH.IN_
12/31/2006 08:06 AM 410,272 FLASH.OC_
               2 File(s) 411,664 bytes
               0 Dir(s) 0 bytes free

And here is the version info of FLASH.OCX:
Code:
6.0.79.0
Macromedia Flash Player 6.0 r79

Microsoft has also issued some Flash updates through Automatic Update, but only to the same level, Flash 6. They have never updated past Flash 6. The intro to Windows XP (that runs after first install, or Start->Programs->Accessories->Tour Windows XP) was written in Flash.

That is complete BS. It certainly wasn't installed in Win 7 or Vista
