So way wasn't the Plus returned in the allotted trial period???????

Good question. I'm on the T-Mobile JUMP! program, so when the 6+ was announced, I pre-ordered it -- mainly because I wanted it, but also because I didn't want to wait and then some freak accident happen to my 5, which would make the upgrade process more difficult.

Of course, I didn't get the phone until 2 months after I pre-ordered. When I first got it, I loved it. It was well worth the wait. But I think I'm falling out of love with iOS. Everyone always wants to hold the 6+ just to gawk at its size, so in return I've played around with a few Android devices and I've been impressed. Maybe it's the "grass is greener on the other side" syndrome, but I'm feeling trapped in Apple's ecosystem.

For me, I just wanted to check out the other side.

I came back relatively quickly (though I continue to dabble with Android devices - I always have one on hand). Apple's services, given all my friends and family are on iOS, simply can't be beat. I had to find too many workarounds for things I could do seamlessly/easily on my iPhone.

In the end, while I still get a new Android device every now and then and plan to continue using both, iOS is my go to. It simply works for me and my use case.

I also couldn't care less about themes and icon packs and such....waste of time to me. I get that some people really love to play around and tweak a lot. For those people, Android is definitely the way to go.

That is why I find my Note 3 still superior. It has 3GB RAM, 13MP camera, 32GB storage and micro SD card. I can download stuff from torrents on the move.

I also own an iPhone 6 but Note 3 can do so much more stuff.

Note 3 does have 3gb of ram as does the note4. But thats just part of the story. Those phones have 3 gb of RAM but you fail to mention is that the TW and all the bloat that runs in the background constantly occupies 2.3 gigs of ram even after a restart. The fact that the iphone can run smoother with 1 gb of ram where note or even my xperia Z3 requires at least two or three gigs to even match the iPhone, speaks volumes in favor of IOS.

All that being said, i think its an outrage that apple released the 6 series with appalling 1gig of ram where android manufacturers have been using at least 2 gigs for years now.

First iPhone I owned was the 5s but it did not work out because of the screen size and my vision. The same with the 6 as well but the Plus has been running great and believe me it would have been sent packing it that was not the case dispit the screen size.

I own plenty of Android smartphones, every one has it's caveats. You think by now that would not be the case considering how many have been released and folks still find issues. Now comes along the supposed upcoming saviour, the HTC M9. More fishing afterwards no doubt in my mind.

There is a absolutely nothing wrong with getting an android smartphone and then tweak away. It is not going to avoid that specific one's caveats.

Aside from downloading torrents (which I could do as well on my iPhone, though not as elegantly as on Android), what is the "so much more stuff".

I always like to ask for people to expound on that phrase. It's thrown around here a ton, but people rarely provide concrete examples of tasks one can accomplish on a Note, that I can't accomplish on my iPhone.

There are "features" the Note has the iPhone doesn't - but most are simply different ways to accomplish the same tasks - preference for each individual.

I'd love to know what I'm missing out on.

BTW, I plan on getting a Note 5 when they are released later this year. It's the only major device line I haven't actually owned over the last 2 years.

Like what?
Downloading torrents on your phone is neat I guess... But I'm not one to use Torrent.
Is torrenting the deal breaker between iOS and Android?

For me they're about equal nowadays. The dealbreaker for me is that iOS has facetime and imessage, 2 crucial communication tools for me.

Thank you! I ask the exact same thing to find out what an Android user says so I can come back and be like I can do the same thing this way.........:cool:

iPhones are capable of bit torrent as well.

Grab a jailbroken device and load up iTransmission. If you're on iOS 8, you need to repair permissions to allow for 'write' in /var/mobile/Documents/torrents using iFile/some file navigator.

You can torrent without jailbreaking as well....though the methods are a bit convoluted I'll admit.

Not really sure how you get board with a phone. It's main purpose should be for communication purposes. No matter what phone/company you go with it will be the same issue. On the other hand there are thousands and thousands of apps that you can download to keep you "occupied".

As far as being bored, I don't know what people really expect these days as far as a smart phone is concerned. I mean true enough, the experience counts for something, but after all the hype leading up to a new iPhone release, is it any wonder that people feel let down when in the end its just more of the same?

I mean, for the most part, its just the same activities being performed a little faster on a slightly prettier screen and taking slightly better photos. (Excitement was being able to take a pic with a phone!) There's been no reinventing the wheel per se for awhile now. Just dressing up the same stuff a little prettier. So it's no wonder that relying on a phone to keep you jacked up is going to fail at some point just like any other activity you perform everyday for years.

Omg thank you. Never knew this. :)

This is what my OP post was about. Maybe I should edit it... It's not the phone that I'm bored with, it's Apple's failure to build a true phablet experience into a more optimized version of iOS for the 6+

Then sell it and get something that works better for you.
Simple enough?
The 6 Plus works great for me so I'm happy with it.
If it didn't I wouldn't be complaining to strangers online. I'd do something about it.

Here here! Excellent post. But then your idea defeats the purpose of people having a reason to simply come here just to bitch and smear Apple's name. :D

I'm wondering if anyone has made the switch to Android (unlikely, seeing as the phone has only been out 6 months), or if anyone is similarly underwhelmed and thinking about switching. If you have switched or are considering it, which device are your eyes on?

Nowhere did I "smear" Apple's name. The point of the post was to see if anyone has thought about switching or has switched. If they did, how was the experience. You two can go back and forth arguing all day, but that wasn't the intention of the post.

Somewhere earlier in the thread, someone said "well why didn't you do your homework". 1) As if to say, yeah it sucks, you should've known beforehand. And, 2) That is simply what I'm doing now. I'm seeing if anyone has switched and how they feel.

How about you two take off your FANBOYS hats for a second.

It's a forum where people post about Apple products. Some people come to praise, some to moan, and some to seek assistance - all manner of things. To say that if we're unhappy then we should sell up, lose money and buy something else is fine...but likewise if we're happy, why come to gloat? What's the point in any postings whatsoever? I was originally not going to buy the 6+ when the spec was released because I was unhappy with the RAM. My i5 already reloaded tabs too often for my liking but due to the ecosystem and my not overly liking any of the competition's smartphones, I decided to live with the 1GB of RAM. After all, I could just about manage the iPhone 5.
Oops, silly me. I should have expected that the 6+ reloads tabs not only more than the i5....but WAY more. Should I just take the hit and quietly toddle off? Am I not allowed to come onto MacRumors and moan a bit? Is it only for those offering praise and sucking up to the Apple brand no matter what?

We're smearing Apple's name? Are you saying undeservedly so? Nothing can be achieved from venting here, that's true. Venting is good though. If my posts annoy Apple and my criticism spurs them into trying harder, then that's good.#

It has nothing to do with fanboy hats or whatever other names you want to call people.
It's just common sense.
Individual experience and satisfaction will vary per user.
If anyone else thought about switching or not it doesn't matter. if you're bored or unsatisfied with your device then test out some other available options and make the switch.
Just because millions of iphone 6 users are happy with their device it means they are just fanboys? Or maybe over 74 millions of i6 users are satisfied with their purchase. Ever thought of that?

You cleverly sidestepped my point, so kudos to you.

My point is that I want people's opinions! Actual people that have actually switched! Sure, I can go to a store and test out devices, but that's only 1 piece of it. How does it feel after a few weeks? Are you satisfied with the switch? Did you go back to Apple?

Sure, I could watch a YouTube video or read a review, but most of those are sponsored by the companies that are being reviewed. So why not ask actual people who are fans of Apple, like myself? You said don't complain and do something about it. The point of the post was to gain feedback and see if it was worth doing something.

Aren't we allowed to grumble that we shouldn't be feeling this way two or three months into ownership of the most expensive smartphone on the market? It's ok that we feel that the device is lacking, and it's ok that we should take a financial hit after lashing out £700 on a phone which was supposed to see us through 24 months? We have zero grounds to grumble?

I would say that it's more valid to come here to discuss problems and voice disappointment than it is to come here just to praise Apple. How pointless is that? If you're super happy with your device and experience zero problems, then why come here at all? I most certainly wouldn't.

Everyone has different usage patterns on their phones. For many people the ability to make phonecalls and use iMessage is enough to keep them happy. For people like me that like to customise the look and feel of the phones OS easily you cant beat an Android phone. Years ago Android had many issues but these days its quite a polished OS and still has the power and customisation that Android is famous for.

I found it very apt.
I don't understand why you defend the iPhone 6+ against all attacks. I own one, I've had nothing but iPhones for the past five years, and I generally prefer them to the competition. It's getting harder and harder for me to say that though. The 6+ is a poor phone.

I just love how you contradict yourself. First you're trying to shut me up from defending the iPhone because of my positive experiences. Then you say it's a forum for people to praise moan and whatever else.

I also just love how you and the OP keep thumbing each other's post up. Your posts are spreading FUD. Even the OP has regretted using the term "bored" in his post due to sending out the wrong message. When somebody starts a negative thread such as the OP did people with good experiences should be posting as well so newcomers don't get the wrong idea from all the iPhone bashing.

Thanks for basically admitting something I never accused you of in regards to smearing Apple's name. Oh how the power of guilt causes people to admit things. ;)

After switching back and forth between iOS, Android and Windows Phone. I always find myself bored and switching back to iOS. Yeah, I have to admit that the 6+ is buggy but for me, it's the best phone out there, especially if it is jailbroken.

My phone history: iPhone 2G, iPhone 4, HTC Trophy, Nokia Lumia 800, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, HTC One M7, iPhone 6, iPhone 6+

I already stated why I preordered the 6+ early. Plus, you conveniently skipped over the part about me being an Apple fan. Why wouldn't I preorder? Aren't I allowed to be disappointed?
