You can't, and you probably won't be able to for months.

It'll take months for the sgs3 to come out, so no biggie.
I waited 16 months for the same iphone 4 to come out all over again, whatta joke
(same phone for 3 years, only with major battery issues and server problems !!!) -

If you think the 4 and the 4S are the same, you need professional help and/or medication. They are vastly different. Having used both for a few months, the 4S is much better.

This is really no different than Ford or Chevy releasing a new model year truck that looks the exact same, but has a bigger engine in it. Do you complain then?

I think you're the one who needs medication !!! How are they "vastly" different?
Haven't you seen any of the youtube videos compairing speed between the two?
Haven't you seen the still photos between the two?
Big flippin' deal, they are NOT "vastly different my friend, prove it, right here, right now, post how they are "vastly" different, and have links to back up your remarks !!!
Vastly different my backside, they are marginally different at BEST - Prove me wrong, I dare you!

Wonderful! You're unhappy. We get it! Sell your 4S and go buy something else. Simple solution!

You think an android phone can last a 2 yr contract? LOL!!!! Have fun with that one.. and you were getting yourself frustrated about just getting an iPhone right before a new one came out(you should of looked at the release schedule with the exception of the 4s) and now you complain and whining about jumping ship.. lol yeah enjoy that android phone until it breaks or you get pissed off about the battery always dying 6 months in your contract.. remember you still have a 1 1/2 left... then around the 1 year mark it's dead.. unless you were paying for your carriers scam warranty and even then your phone is out of its service warranty at that point and even if it isn't it'll be replaced by a junk(yes junk) refurbished. I've had some good refurbished.. not androids with my personal experience.

At any rate smartphones should really be a 1 year contract honestly because of how fast they change. Unfortunately they are still growing like the PC age back in the mid 90's to mid 00's. Always something new and wow until it hit that bottleneck.. then netbooks which lasted for a little bit until the iPad came out and demolished them off the market.

But yeah, enjoy that android lol But a guess most people learn by experience until you happen to get that one good phone out there.

All phones have problems some how some way

Just because two things look alike, doesn't mean they are alike. Having done my own speed comparisons, my 4S has beaten my 4 every time under the same conditions.

Have you looked at nicely lit ourdoor pictures taken with both phones? The 4S is greatly superior. Have you played some CPU/GPU intensive games? The 4S does not have a problem, where the 4 struggles sometimes. (Oddly enough my 3Gs plays GPU intensive games better then my 4.) Have you surfed the internet on AT&T's mobile 3G network on both in a location that has a good, fast 3G connection? The 4S wins 95% of the time in loading and I have never seen my 4S "checkerboard", unlike my 4 and 3Gs. Have you ever tried getting a quick GPS lock on both? The 4S is twice as fast because of its newer chip and GLONASS support. These are all hardware based enhancements.

You can find the links yourself. The 4S has a new processor, better camera, 1080p video redesigned antenna amongst other things. But I say again, you knew all this before you bought it so why the hell did you buy it? I truly don't understand. Why didn't you just buy the SGS2 once you learned what the iPhone 4S was going to be?

Funny how people always complain about signing for 2 year contract and than watching new iPhone come out next year and they think they should be able to get it same as people who were waiting patiently. And they always say they will jump ship. I presume to Android. So OP how do you feel about Android drama? You will get phone today tomorrow there will be new model, month from now there will be 5 more. Your phone will be several models older in only 3-4 months.

It's a year long hassle/struggle trying to be on top of Apple's annual iphone merry-go-round, and I want to get off, I have had enough -

When the SGS3 come's out, I will be on it like Lemmings on iphone, standing in line if I have to
If you're sick of the Apple "struggle" then you're going to be waaaay beyond sick with the constant deluge of new Android devices.

Anyone else sick of the drama, or is it already accepted as your yearly routine?
Not sick of it and it's not annual for me. If you're always wanting the latest thing then it really doesn't matter what you get. It's not the devices that are the problem.

Of course others are. Does it really matter? Do what you prefer.

You can do what some people do, resell your old phone when that new phone replaced your 1 y/o phone and use that to pay only half the cost for the new one.

Ohh wait.. yeah.. android resell value.. *sigh* ...yeaaaaaah... about that.. LOL

Funny... And oh so true :)

I just want to JB and unlock my 4s so I can get the most value for it, and then I'm jumping ship !!!
Can't stand the Apple "drama" anymore -
I bought a 3g/2yr contract in Jan of 09, only to see the 3gs come out 5 months later in June, and 1 year after that, the 4 came out, and I still had 6 months left on my contract (and now 2 phones behind) -

In Jan of 2010, I was free but I did not update to iphone4/sign new 2yr deal, (I was going to wait for the 5 in June) :)
Then had to wait 10 flippin' months to get a repackaged iphone4, what a freakin' joke -
IMO, JB makes the iphone twice as usefull, but we don't even have that after 2 months.
Anyone remember the gigantic pre-order scandal? (what a nightmare) -
Now, 1/2 of the 12 bazillion 4s have battery issues, and Siri doesn't even work on the other half -

***NEWS FLASH***

Most phones are on a yearly renewal schedule. Even a retarded kid knows if you buy a phone that's 6 months old, the new one will be out by the end of the year!!!

right...a post chock full of concern about not having the latest and greatest gadget, complaining of phones being updated too quickly, an apparent opinion that aesthetics are the only things that matter on a cell phone, and if it looks the same it must be the same phone...and the solution is jump to android?

don't feed the troll, people

Your problem is that you feel like you have to have the latest and greatest. It's consumerism at its worst. Companies want you to keep upgrading and upgrading and upgrading. So the problem isn't Apple, it's yourself. Stop being so gullible, enjoy what you have. Kids in Asia are eating rice and drinking water from a hole in the ground, and your bitching because you don't have the newest iPhone. My 4S is my FIRST ever iPhone, and when the 5 comes out? So what. I'll wait for the 6. You have to be on some sort of schedule, there is no point in trying to upgrade every year. Why did you get the 4S anyway, if you knew the 5 would be out in 2012?

You'll never have the latest gadget, or if you do, it wont last very long. There is always going to be something new, accept that.

-Vastly different on the inner hardware last I checked.
-Yes, I have seen videos comparing the speed between the two and the 4s comes on top. The 4s is snappier and can play certain games that can really take advantage of the a5 chip. THere are games specifically designed for the a5.
-Yes, i have seen both still photos and video. As a person that uses cameras alot, there is a big difference. 5 to 8mp jump is huge, but the biggest thing is image stabilization from the 4 to 4s.

If you want to talk about hardware, you're also looking at the low energy bluetooth 4.0 and most importantly an improved antenna so that people dont get antenna gate. The antenna right there is huge imo. As everyone is saying, you are obviously running on consumerism. The iPhone comes out every year, because that's how technology is with upgrading. THe android market though is much more fragmented than the iPhone. I dunno where you're going to jump ship if the iPhone comes out once a year and there's ALWAYS a new android phone coming out.

Quit the knot in those knickers of yours

BTW good luck with that. iPad 2 has been out for almost a year and still no JB ;)

@OP: Sorry to see so many people giving you flak for wanting to change. I think the 4S was meant for people who were upgrading from the 3GS, so people like me who did that seem to be mostly satisfied.

Apple did cause a problem though by not offering a new model earlier. When Apple's schedule was more regular, we could predict when the next model was coming out and plan the length of contracts to end at the introduction of the next model. Thus, it was many months after the 3GS introduction before I had saved enough money to purchase it, so I opted for a relatively expensive 18-month contract, only to find the next model was available much later than the end of the contract. Had I known that Apple was changing their schedule, I would have opted for the cheaper 24 month contract. The &#^% so-and-so's at Orange UK wouldn't give me credit for the months I had paid off contract (not :apple:'s fault), so in the end for me the 3GS was more expensive than it had to be. I suppose I could have purchase the iP4, but I am glad I waited for the 4S.

I'm just saying that it'd be more consumer-friendly if Apple could maintain some sort of predictable schedule.

I don't think he's getting flack for him wanting to change, just flack because of the way he's acting about the situation. Like a "oh **** it's the end of the world, I don't have the newest version of a phone every year, Apple is ruining my life", it's a little pathetic. I'm sure others feel the same way he does. I don't care what kind of schedule Apple is following now. I have my 4S, I'll get another in 2 years. The people that do get the newest phone every time there is a change are the ones that keep Apple (and other companies) booming, so they love you for that.

And if you didn't realize, not being predictable makes more money, as well as marketing and a good product, which are all characteristics of Apple. Theyre not stupid.

Agreed, but I can still wish for more predictability in the release date of new iPhones, however futile it might be. :)

seriously, u know nth abt smartphones. ur not a gd investor either, u always pick the wrong time to do wrong purchase.

Your problem is that you feel like you have to have the latest and greatest.

That's 100% wrong my friend, maybe you should read the original post before you pull out your keyboard.

"you feel like you have to have the latest and greatest"
Get real. I have been stuck with a 3g for 3 flippin years, (I would like to have the latest/greatest one time!)
(do you hear me?, one time I would like to have the latest/greatest and sign a new 2year deal, just one flippin time).

I understand all the android hate since this is an "apple" site, but most of the peeps in here talk about bad experiences with old android phones. How about trying out the new android phones, SGS2, Nexus, droid, etc.

The year 2011 has been nothing but a huge fiasco for iphone lovers, and I'm sick of it -
(and I'm shocked that I'm the only one)
