It's always seeing people who want to jump ship to Android have doubt so they try to downtalk apple. Trust me.. it's the same way for people with androids that have doubts about the iphone.

I'll tell you this though. Enjoy having the latest phone for 90 days. Anroid is infamous for making a phone obsolete every three months, on cue.

I would love the experience of a "new phone" for 90 days.
I have yet to experience the latest/greatest with att, (even though I have been paying them top dollar 3yrs running) -

if you want the latest and greatest, even "just one time", then go for it. get the phone that best achieves that goal for you.

but if you're wondering why a lot of people are rolling their eyes at you, its because you CHOSE to buy a 4s, which is a VERY significant step up from an iPhone 3G (i should know, thats been my migration path as well), and are now complaining because this choice somehow has not aligned with your "top dog, just for once" aspirations.

again, a lot of that is human nature, and honestly if you have a game plan that'll make you happy, then by all means go for it. but you're on here looking for some sort of validation about being upset that a perfectly capable phone doesn't give you sufficient bragging rights.

and if you just feel like you've had unfair luck with timing, given potential major/minor future upgrades, consider:

-if you got a 3GS you'd feel like you do now, "they put in a faster processor, but it looks exactly the same, and i bet a complete redesign will come next round!"

-if you got a 4, you'd likely have heard about antennagate and potentially be feeling indignant about that, or the fact that dual core phones are on their way and you're stuck with a single core.

I would love the experience of a "new phone" for 90 days.

It's not all that really...

I've only had 2 iPhones.....I got an original 2 weeks after it launched, waited so I could just walk in and get one rather than get there early and wait in line.

I kept that phone until the 4 came out....again waited a month after launch to get it so I wouldn't have to wait in line. I'll keep this one until the 5 comes out...

I skipped the 3g, 3gs and 4s.....You gotta do whatever it is you need to do though....find something that meets your needs and makes you happy.

You may be less than satisfied though...I have a buddy who got some Samsung phone....looks kinda like an iPhone but bigger screen....and he was all bragging about it, how fast it was, cheaper, bigger screen...blah blah blah blah blah...never ending stream that came across like a dude that wants a Harley but bought a Yamaha and tries to justify why.....anyway, he hates that phone now. It's always freezing and locking up on him, and he has to power it off/on, plus the battery life is terrible. He never talks about how "great" his new phone is anymore.

Samsung makes LOTS of phones, which model are you specifically talking about?
(why is it nobody mentions the model number of the android phone they had problems with)?

I bought a 3g/2yr contract in Jan of 09, only to see the 3gs come out 5 months later in June, and 1 year after that, the 4 came out, and I still had 6 months left on my contract (and now 2 phones behind) -

Here's the deal:
iPhone 3G was released July 11, 2008
iPhone 3GS at June 19, 2009
iPhone 4 at June 24, 2010
iPhone 4S at October 14, 2011

So as far as I can see, the problem is that you bought an iPhone 3G 6months after it was released.. Either you buy it right after it's released or you wait for the next one to show up. Or buy it used if you wanna buy it after it's been 6months since it was released, so you don't lock yourself down in the way you did. You example is a good way on how NOT to lock yourself up to a contract if you care about the next phone upgrade before the 2years has expired.

Be glad that you didn't buy an android phone, because then you'd be 10 phones behind AT LEAST with that argument! I bet you didn't think of that! LOL!

That's 100% wrong my friend, maybe you should read the original post before you pull out your keyboard.

"you feel like you have to have the latest and greatest"
Get real. I have been stuck with a 3g for 3 flippin years, (I would like to have the latest/greatest one time!)
(do you hear me?, one time I would like to have the latest/greatest and sign a new 2year deal, just one flippin time).

I understand all the android hate since this is an "apple" site, but most of the peeps in here talk about bad experiences with old android phones. How about trying out the new android phones, SGS2, Nexus, droid, etc.

The year 2011 has been nothing but a huge fiasco for iphone lovers, and I'm sick of it -

(and I'm shocked that I'm the only one)

To be fair, YOU made a big deal about how the new model came out "only" 5 months after you bought your phone.
Samsung, for example, release new models a damn site more frequently and less predictably than Apple do so when you get your SGS 3 will you have a similar hissy-fit 3 months later when the SGS 4 comes out?
Hmmm, fisaco?:
Order iPhone, wait 5 days, open box, insert sim, get on with life... not seeing the fiasco tbh.

It's really simple, don't buy a phone that is 6months old... Or did you really expect that something 6months old when it comes to the mobile business would be up to par with the latest and greatest? Keep on dreaming if so :)

I don't know...if it really matters I can call him and find out.....

EDIT: Called him. He has the Galaxy S and they are getting rid of it for the 2S.

Because no matter what Android phone you're using you're still using the Android operating system. No thanks.

Nothing wrong with wanting an Android. No reason to downtalk an Android as there are obviously many happy customers. Just make sure you get the right phone as they have tons to choose from.

I have a tablet with Android and it is not that bad. Its good to try new things and to have assortment in your gadgets!

I bought a Kindle Fire a few weeks ago...my only Android device...and I like it alot! It's pretty nifty little tablet. I bought it mainly as an eReader, but it does web, email and apps too....pretty cool for a bedside and travel device.

Agreed! To the OP, Why didn't you sell your phone when the new phone came out and buy the newer phone with the money you made from selling the older phone?

Here's what I did/do: I purchased the iPhone 4 for $200 under contract. When the new 4s came out I sold my 4 for $350 on Craigslist and purchased the 4s for around $400. Now when the next one comes out next year I'll do it again and always have the latest iPhone.

The reason is because Android has a HORRID issue with fragmentation. Name the ultimate Android phone? Is it the SGS2? Or is it the Motorola sure to be released next month (With Android "Pinched Loaf" OS this time).

There are a LOT of different phones. That's great if you want a million choices I supposes, but an utter waste if you want something polished, that is "the best" for more than a month or two.

Perusing the Android forums, there is a LOT of "I can't believe I just bought the "X" only to see the new "XY" is coming out.

There have been 5 iPhones. Each a little (sometimes a lot) better than the last. The 4S was "good enough" for millions of people to upgrade. Not because it was bleeding edge, but because it improved on an experience already superior to Android.

My brother used to say "multitasking" was the reason he loved Android. Then it was "notifications". Now it's the "screen size". When Apple changes that he'll come up with something else. Haters gonna hate. It is what it is.

Do whatever makes you happy, but you will never BE happy, because you are jumping to product on a release cycle that will MONTHLY have you owning an outdated (or at least less bleeding edge) phone with 1 year and 13 months still left on your contract.

Then when you go to sell it on feeBay, you'll get $200 for it instead of the $600 you got when you sold your 4S. Yep, Android resale absolutely blows in comparison. Why is that?

Enjoy the insanity! Just don't kid yourself.

Different strokes for different folks, man. A year ago I switched over to Android because I left AT&T for Sprint; I got an EVO 4G and thought it was an okay phone, especially after I discovered the joys of rooting and flashing custom ROMs. I ended up going through three Androids: the EVO 4G, the EVO Shift, and the Nexus S. The Nexus was the only one that I was ever truly satisfied with, largely because stock Android IMO is so much better than the horrible OEM modifications like Sense that bloat the hell out of the software.

The thing is, if you're upset because you feel like the refresh cycle of the iPhone is leaving you behind, then you're going to really hate having an Android phone. New model Androids come out every month, and each is vying to be the latest and greatest. The flagship Android phone for your carrier today could be yesterday's news next month. Sure you can flash new ROMs and keep it as up-to-date as you can software-wise, but from a hardware perspective it gets rough watching your phone get more and more out-of-date every week.

I also found myself, when it came time to get a new phone, struggling to decide which one I wanted. Each phone has pros and cons and choosing what's best for you without getting that "grass is greener" feeling can be difficult. For the short time I was with Verizon earlier this month I got a Galaxy Nexus, and instead of being excited all I could do is wonder if I shouldn't have gotten the RAZR instead, or waited for the Droid 4. That could just be me; but in my mind it's a lot easier to be satisfied with an iPhone than an Android phone.

Where were you M Quick back in Jan of 09 when I didn't know richard about iphones?

In Jan of 09 I was getting hosed by Sprint, (was Nextel) for $180 bucks a month for 2 flip phones, one for me, one for my wife, (no internet even).
While ice fishing, my buddy is showing me his iphone 2g, and it was waaaaay better than my motorolla flip phone, was cheaper to own even with a data plan, so I hopped on the iphone wagon, and loved it.

I had no idea the 3gs would come out 5 months later, and I had no idea the 4 would come out the following june when I still had 6 months left -

When I dropped my 3g from 2 feet and the front glass shattered, I had no idea the the company I have been sending checks to for many months, att, did not know how to repair it, they told me to go to Apple -

It was only then that I googled up how to repair it myself, and since my phone was no longer under warranty, why not JB it? So I did both!

My JB 3g was the cat's ass, and I was really happy with how much more custom and useful it became, I was more in love with my iphone than ever!

So jan 2010 arrives and I'm no longer under contract :)
Do I immediately grab a 4 and sign a new 2yr deal, no way, not this time, I know better now. I'm gonna wait 6 more months, and get me a nice shiney state of the art 5, with bigger screen and all kinds of cool stuff like nfc, 4g/lte -

So I was contantly educating myself about the new phones, discovered this site while doing so, and realized back in March like the rest of you that we weren't going to see a new iphone in June - good grief, I went from a 6 month wait, to a 10 month wait, and I didn't "choose" the 4s, it chose me.
Here I am using a phone for almost 3 yrs, it is getting very slow, the battery is very weak, it is at the end of it's usefull life, I HAVE to get a new phone, (it's not a matter of "choice" at this point) -

Like most, I was very dissapointed when they announced the 4s, all of this wait and anguish for this? WTH !!! 2 days after the keynote, att started selling the SGS2, and I was going to give it a real look for the 30 day trial, then bring it back and get a new 4s, (give it a look for 30 days without getting locked in).
Inevitably, I decided NOT to try the SGS2, in fear of not being able to go back to the 4s and look at the tiny 3.5" screen, (so I just decided to get the 4s).

I had no idea the 4s would come with all the pre-order fiascos with good solid customers getting hosed while the carriers sold our "pre-ordered" phones to anyone walking in, telling us we now had to wait 30 days

Now, with the lack of a JB, I couldn't be more dissapointed with the 4s -

So there you go, call me every flippin name in this thread like "dummy", "retard", and some of the other non flattering stuff posted, but don't call me an idiot for wanting to get off this ride for a while, (I never said I wouldn't come back to check out the 5, just pissed about my 4s) -

So how's your battery life on your new "best" of all smartphones, did you get lucky, or did you get a defective one?

Strange that you had 6 months left. If you were paying the same $180 per month to AT&T, you would be eligible for the upgrade at 18 months usually, and almost always at 20 months. Your math looks like you were being forced to wait the entire 24 months. I have been with AT&T for years, and have NEVER had to wait the full 24 month period for an update price.

Fine thanks...;)

You are lucky my friend, thank god you didn't get one of the millions of defective ones, (have you seen all the battery threads, and Apple's attempt with a software fix in 5.0.1?
Siri doesn't even connect or recognize voices for 1/2 it's millions of owners.
Polished device my tailfeathers -

Siri doesn't even connect or recognize voices for 1/2 it's millions of owners.
I can confirm this is true. Siri doesn't understand 90% of my commands and I have no accent. Born and raised in the midwest. I have witnessed several other people have massive fails with Siri as well, and the number of complaints on the forums speaks for itself.

@OP...I understand where your coming from!

One thing people in this forum need to get straight is the "well there will be a new android phone 3 months later" Of course there will...android is open source and used by a NUMBER of manufacturers...does Google themselves put out all of these new phones one after the other? NO...samsung, motorola, htc, LG, etc do...and if you look REAL close most android phones stick to a 1 year or nearly 1 year refresh...the Droid Bionic and Droid RZR...even though they are made by the same company (Motorola) are in fact DIFFERENT phones...and one is not a refresh of the other otherwise it would have been the Droid Bionic 2 instead of the Droid RZR...If apple open sourced IOS you would see TONS of phones being released each month...then would you complain about that?

I also agree with the OP saying that most people who complain about android phones were using OLD android phones...I was a dedicated I phone user (every verison through the ip4)...but I got bored with it...yes they changed things but the software (and screen size) became stale to me...so I opted to give android a shot (First the Motorola Atrix...amazing phone...and now the SGS2)...and I have to say I have had a WONDERFUL experience! Is it for everyone...of course not...but it is NO WHERE near as flawed as some people on this forum make it out to be!

Better than on any Android phone I've ever had. ;)

Consider yourself fortunate Pete, imagine if you were one of the millions with serious 4s battery problems, you wouldn't have that smirk on your face right now, would you, (some even blow up)

How about this guy ........ "2nd iPhone 4s hot to touch battery lasts 3 hours on standby"
