.....and it starts again....people trying to find "gates" with apple products.

nobody cared about bending phones, but now it's an issue apparently and considered "normal usage" to sit on your phone until it bends....Apples fault say those who think Apple should design phones to withstand this.

Now comes the pressinggate on the iPad. "Oh look it's thinner than before let's try find a problem with it"....and as bending an iPad or putting it in the back pocket would be plain stupid then let's press really hard on the back and see if it shows on the screen....

Tired of this....

Yeah I spent almost $2000 on mutiple ipad air 2s but I'm on here to bash Apple.... OK THAT MAKES SENCE.

hey maybe you should know what your talking about before you speak. You don't have to press hard for the issue to show up. Just holding the ipad causes the problem. Apple exchanged my ipad when the guy in the store held it and saw the issue very easy. We then went to the display units and ALL of them did it JUST BY HOLDING THEM. NO PRESSING!!

Here we go again... a fanboy defending :apple: when no one is attacking them. I just want my ipad to work as it should. It should work the same way as my last 3 ipads did.

PS. I can NOT replicate the issue with the thin lid on my Retina MacBook pro. So Apple has proven they can make a sturdy display.

----------

I'm curious since I can't replicate it at all even by applying pressure in every way, do you need to be on an all white page or black page to see it? I am naked though, need to get a case asap so that way I can see how it does on one. If it starts doing it with a case then it'll go back. Now I'm talking normal use holding it with one hand, that's unacceptable. I feel for those that are just holding it and seeing this even a fanboy can't defend that that's awful.

I notice it more on a darker screen. Easy to spot while on the keypad to unlock with the default background.

Actually it's #distortionwhileholdinggate

I don't care about people pushing on it. What worries me is the claim that it happens just as you are holding it normally and using it.

Nothing I can do for another month I guess. Will it ever come here in 2014?

Yup, I noticed this at Bestbuy. I was going to buy one, but now I'm rethinking.
(Let's be real, I'm going to buy one anyway, haha.)

Exactly. If someone is pressing on their ipad then they are stupid. But I take care of my Apple products and I even bought an $80 cover to protect it. As soon as I put the case on I noticed the effect as soon as I picked up the ipad while the screen was on.

My first thought was "wtf"? I then grabbed my ipad air and it didn't happen.

I then got my 64gb air 2 and "WTF, you too"

Beyond this problem I love the ipad and I plan to keep my current 1. I figure if something goes wrong in the future Apple will help me.

I just can't stand people who claim it's not a real issue because they are not experiencing it. I have never complained about any Apple product and I always thought the people that complained about pixels and yellow screens were nuts. I however would never go attack them just because they have an issue and I don't. I also would not try to discredit them for the sake of :apple:.

$2000 on an iPad Air 2??

Is yours made of gold or you don't even have any idea of how much one costs??

1 ipad air 2 + 1 case X 2 = $1825 after tax

Oh and here is my exchange:

This issue and the sound issue is why I am deciding to purchase my in late January.

I'll be checking back then to see if the issues have been resolved through refinement in the manufacturing process....

Well nothing will be fixed because according to :apple: fanboys there is nothing to fix. So I suggest you just buy it now and live with the defect.

If ever. You've got a long wait friend.

Nice to save a few bucks though. Always nice.

It's such a big issue that after months of testing and usage every single engineer, director and CEO at Apple completely missed this fault...

bunch of jokers those guys at Apple!!

Nothing will change in January, Apple never modifies their products during their life cycle.
I have absolutely none of these issues with my iPad Air 2, SG, LTE, go figure...
Btw; Has anyone here pressed at the back f the screen of their or friends laptop recently..? You'll be amazed what you'll see by doing so ;)
NONE issue as far as I'm concerned.
PS; Use your iPads instead of trying very, very very, very hard to find yet another issue with new Apple product, GET LIFE!
Don't agree, or don't like it, just return for refund and STOP being drama queens ;)

Funnily enough just pressed really hard on the back of the screen of my rMBP and guess what there's an issue there too...

LOL

Not seeing this on my 64GB WiFi Air 2. I've tried holding it with one hand all around the edges and can't see anything popping up anywhere, light screen or dark. There are some splotches on the passcode screen from the translucency of the Apple wallpaper showing through, but I'm sure you knew that.

See that's the issue. Instead of talking about the issue and hoping that Apple becomes aware to fix it you say "instead of trying very, very very, very hard to find yet another issue with new Apple product, GET LIFE!"

I NEVER look for anything wrong with my Apple products. My stomach turned when I saw this issue just by picking it up. Before this issue I never returned or complained about a single product.

Also the problem here is I WANT AN IPAD. So why should I do without? Why should I get a subpar product while others are saying they don't have the issue?

All this talk of it not happening from simple lifting of the device makes me want to go back to Apple until I get a good 1. Why should I be stuck with the crap I got? I wonder if my local store got a bad batch? All their display units and all 3 of mine?!?!?! !?!?!?!

Unfortunately there is no such thing as "refinement in the manufacturing process."

These things are already designed and they're churning them out. Like the iPhone 4 antenna problem. It is what it is until they redesign it again for next year.

There's no bad batch.

I think you will FIND an issue with every single device you get because you are looking for an issue.

I think you will FIND an issue with every single device you get because you are looking for an issue.

What part of "I'm NOT looking for an issue" do you not get? I have not picked up my current ipad in a while hoping it doesn't happen much. I just want my ipad to work. You can think what you want, but the issue is REAL.

Well the issue IS REAL as Apple exchanged my ipad and the guy was shocked by what he saw. I just handed him the ipad and he was like "wow".

ISSUE CONFIRMED:

So guess what... Consumer Reports now says it happens:

"In fact, the Air 2 is so thin that you can depress the screen from the back of the device. You know how poking an LCD with a fingertip produces a temporary distortion, a small puddle of color? The same thing happens on the Air 2 if you press it from behind—there's no reason to think this will damage the device.)"

So if you support enough weight of the ipad air 2 on your fingers it acts like you're pressing the ipad and it happens.

http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/10/happy-with-your-current-ipad-skip-the-air-2/index.htm

Four days I've been using mine now with no distortion whatsoever no matter how I hold it.

In fact everything about the Air2 is perfect. I love it. :D

I kept my Air, it's near perfect from day 1.
What amazes me is that people get the new improved Air 2 with the improved screen and it's not right, at least I dident see this feature in the selling points. And Apple get a pass and makes a bundle of money. If Apple had reported this defect in its ads would you rush out and still buy it, or demand they correct there error? How can people stand for such poor quality control from a device costing this much money?

Yesterday l got one at best buy it's silver 64gb wifi, and it has the issue, exactly on the same spot that the first picture posted, if I just grab the ipad and walk at normal speed, just holding it with my right hand then the effect of "bouncing" make it appears. Also it appears while holding it with not much excesive force, but sure it needs to be like 10~20% more force than my usual normal grip. But mine is naked at the moment, so if adding a case this will make it worst or like some are saying more "normal" then I would start to be worried.

I'm pretty happy with the performance, my screen is near perfect just a tiny light bleed on one edge, white is pretty uniform, no dead pixels. But anyways I think this should not be happening, and i'm pretty sure that all will have it, maybe some more than others, but all of them.

On next week when I get a case if this is worst, then this is going back. My last hope will be the nexus 9, the tab s 10.5 wasn't any good either I returned one.

I've just had a play with a new 2 and could not see any problems. It looks to me a lot of you Americans just look for problems. Like the 6 plus bending.

WOW just wow. Again I did not look for this damn problem. The problem slapped me in the face. I hope your next device is jacked all up so I can come on here and bash you!

PS. To anyone thinking I'm just an Apple hater here is a screen cap of my Apple support page. Note I have 9 devices. Again I love my Apple products. :

no damages when there is enough pressure? i wonder how long does it take when first dead pixels appear...

if it so thin (or design fault) how can you carry it in your bag without worrying there isnt too much pressure damaging the screen permanently? this happens already when you just keep the device on your hand - how about when carrying it in your bag with other stuff?

im really surprised that they didnt notice this... or...
1. they didnt notice -> quality control issue?
2. they did notice -> there wasnt time to redesign?
3. they did notice -> they hoped nobody will see it?
3. they knew it -> still they didnt want to redesign?

im definitely going to wait and see...

Ok, after some "testing" I finally see the "issue" here. It required some "testing", because I wasn't able to reproduce the issue while using my iPad. I had to add so much more pressure to the back I haven't ever did to my iPads. Holding it with one hand I don't see screen distortion and everything is fine.

I guess people are really trying to find an issue.
