this is hilarious. using screenshots to measure visual screen quality LOL

Glad you enjoyed it. Did you note the time on the display? Did you notice that I've since posted two camera pics? Did you notice that you've contributed nothing to this thread? That's hilarious to me. :p

Screen issue aside I'm really happy with my iPad so I don't want to return it. Really hoping my next one comes in clean. I need to look into if T-mo's short return window still applies for defective stuff. If the second one is faulty and I need to wait for a third it'll push me past that initial window.

How can I know if my iPad air display is good or is too yellow or uneven? Where can I find a full white screen without elements?

If you don't see it, you don't have it.

My launch day air, just a zoomed in safari page brightness pegged.

Just posting a pic of your screen is helpful to no one. What about the pic? What about your screen? Are you happy with it? Does it look bad to you? More info or don't bother.

I went to the Apple Store

I just came back from the Apple Store. Every single one of the units on display had a slightly different tone on the left side, specially on the bottom (with the iPad in portrait). The difference is subtle, but noticeable.

It is easier to spot comparing the "A" or "S" keys with the "P" on the white keyboard. Otherwise it can be not that easy to spot.

Um yeah I'm happy it's perfectly white. I understand posting a pic from my phone isn't much this isn't the first lauch day iPad I have owned. But I have also seen other photos from forum member where even with a cell phone photo you can tell the screen has issues .

While my hope is to get a "clean" one I don't mind a mostly unnoticeable shift. If I have to open an all white page and squint who cares. Mine is discoloring the whites of photos I'm looking at.

Is it a keeper? Apart from having a dark strip along the left frame I also have 2 specks of dust stuck under my panel, although they are not distractive under normal use.

I'm not gonne keep it I think. While it's amazing to see there are iPads that are relatively uniform (in respect to color/tint) the dust is fairly obvious on brighter backgrounds. :(

Human eye lashes examined too closely. Think of that the next time you kiss your significant other's eyes. Actually, I had a roommate in college who wouldn't kiss his girlfriend because of germs. An otherwise normal guy... :D

I'm on my second Air, first one had a dark blue tint down the left hand side covering about a cm in, second has the yellow tint over half the screen. compared it to my 4 and mini and they are uniform over the whole screen. The fact it's always seems to be the left hand side seems weird. Going to return it and if I can't find a good screen I'll get a refund and stick with my Ipad 4 for now, shame it's an amazing tablet in every other way.

I guess if I only used apps or sites that were very colourful it wouldn't be an issue but I use a lot of apps and sites with mainly white backgrounds so it stands out quite a bit. It probably wouldn't bother me as much if the whole screen had a yellow tint but the half and half makes it irritating.

I don't think I'm being over paranoid about it I've had a first gen Ipad, an Ipad 4, a Mini, Iphone 4 and 5 and this is the first time I've ever had a problem.

I saw someone mention (can't remember the site) that it might be the magnets affecting the screen, is that possible? If so seems like there won't be such a thing as a good Air.

Or may be completely abstain from it :p

If you are struggling to notice anything odd about your screen that means its probably fine. Forcing yourself to see something which isn't there is a little bit excessive IMO. With my day1 unit, I noticed the dark stripe almost immediately upon turning it on. Will be exchanging it tomorrow, should be fun

Purchased a 16Gb gray model from Apple online and found this thread after noticing quite a bit of color shift from left to right - concentrated in opposite corners. The backlighting also isn't very even. Tried uploading a photo, but it keeps saying "failed".

Anyway, wonder if it could be that this color shifting is just inherent to some of the panels being used (not saying that it's acceptable). It reminds me so much of the age-old problem with TN LCD panels (as opposed to IPS or others). If you're not familiar with the issue, sit in front of any TN LCD and you'll see that all colors change dramatically from the top of the screen to the bottom. Drives me crazy.

Can't imagine TN panels being used in the iPad Air, but it could be that whatever technology is used in some has a similar limitation.

Am just returning mine.

I don't think mine is as severe as some others but I still see the yellow on left and blue on right :/

Do You advice me to replace the iPad?

So impossible to tell from the picture. It seems off but whats the picture and whats your screen I don't know. As has been said a dozen times already, is it bothering you? If so go hit your genius bar, if not why ask?

Had my Air replaced today for dust under the screen and rattling power button.

Replacement has no obvious issues. The whites are certainly whiter than the previous one, which now appears to have had a pink tint to it.

But are available some perfect iPad Air screen? My ipad has a little flaw And I uncertain if replace it or not.

Yours looks very similar to mine.. Pink on the sides in landscape and green in the middle. I find it to be very distracting in normal usage. It really depends on how much you notice it.. but personally mine feels like I'm reading from the inside of an inside-out watermelon.
