I don't think they will as you didn't buy it from them.

I bought mine from Tesco and I phoned up my nearest Apple store and they said to be it would be best to return it to Tesco then come to us and buy one :D

I was told that after return period i could take it to apple (Apple store employee), confused?

So I finally got my replacement unit. The dark strip along the left edge appears less pronounced, although how I'm seeing a more gradual yellow to pink cast going left to right lol. Kinda expected something like this to happen :(

I've now gone through 5 ipad airs and 3 retina minis, all of which have had either dead pixels or serious yellowing or color shift from yellow on the left to purplish on the right*. The air I have now has a more or less consistent tint, but it is definitely on the purple side. Not sure whether this warrants a replacement...

*and I do mean serious. To the extent that the csr where I purchased the units was able to see it right away, in spite of the bright fluorescents overhead.

Yes that is true but you would only get a service replacement and not a full retail swap unit.

Given its barely over 2 weeks old I don't want a service replacement unit, 6 months then sure.

What does it matter. Apple refurbished might as we'll be new in box.

Had to get a replacement for my original model due to dead pixels, but now I've noticed a new issue on my replacement.

Wasn't evident until I used the Calendar and/or Maps apps, but there's at least two areas where there's a faint dark line going horizontally across the display. It's not too noticeable when nothing's happening, but it's clearly evident when you're scrolling.

Is this one of those things where it "fixes" itself after a week or so (like the yellowing) or is it a fault with the backlight and needs to be swapped out again? I had checked it out for dead pixels at the store, but this kind of thing isn't evident unless you've already set it up which requires syncing and taking off the plastic protecting it.

(Kinda annoyed considering it's like a 20-30 minute drive to the mall. >.>)

I have the same issue on mine. I'm assuming it won't go away, unfortunately. Will be curious as to other people's thoughts.

isme is an Apple authorized retailer? What is their return policy? Are you asking if Apple will replace an iPad bought from another retailer? Doubtful. Unless they take it for repair under warranty. You can try, but I would try an exercise my option under the return policy of the retailer first. Tell them you don't like it (which is true). Then go buy another one from Apple. :D

Isme has horrible policies and won't let you return the product once you've opened it :( also their customer service is a nightmare and it's a miracle i got my product in the first place, only ordered with them as there was a deal which saved me £50. The yellow tint is really noticable though :( are you sure apple wouldn't replace for me? I thought they were cool with it as long as it's within the 1 year warranty period.

Sorry to hear that. You can ask, but I doubt they will. Maybe. Asking doesn't hurt. Good luck.

Wow, it's amazing how so many people are reporting uneven tinting, let alone screen issues in general. In portrait mode, the bottom of my screen also exhibits warmer, yellowish whites compared to the bluer whites at the top of the screen. It's very subtle, but nevertheless present, and ultimately unacceptable for a product at this price point. Hard to believe that something as fundamental as display integrity is still an issue in 2013. But sadly, like someone said earlier, this is something we've kind of come to expect from Apple.

I want a good screen, I really do, and I don't think it's asking too much, but at the same time, I really don't want to have to play the Apple lottery because the next display could be worse. It's a frustrating experience buying an Apple product anymore.

Hi, guys!
Same problem here. Serial no. DMQL
I'm replacing it tomorrow, gotta try my fortune! Hope one time, it's done!

i was thinking about swapping the 32GB i have for a 64, but worried about people saying the screens are bad, the 32 i have is perfect imo, not sure if i want to risk it now.

The uneven screen is due to one thing , the glass. Apple has a lot of glass manufacturers and this which appears a not so simple process I assume is what is giving the different hues, discolouration and rainbow effects! It's all based on the curing ,heat and time they take in finishing the glass screen.

:D

Could this maybe be why Apple is developing its own sapphire glass manufacturing plant in AZ?

Heh i have an lg if we're going by serial J week also from target. My yellow tint is on the left. And here i thought ql would guarantee a perfect display.

Lol i just checked my iphone and its clearly more yellow, because its gold? That said it is evenly yellow across the whole display. It really makes the ipad look cool in comparison

Everyone here is so caught up in "yellowing" afairs, that they don't even check for that other iPad Air screen issue - bleeding.
Here is my third replacement and this time round it's going back for a refund... :(

With all the posts about the problem, I figured I would go out and get one, since all the bad ones have been bought. Went to Best Buy, and got a perfect screen. So I thank all of you for purchasing early and getting the bad ones out of the system. DMQL :)

Well if you actually read this thread, or any thread regarding screen issues and Apple devices, you would know that serial numbers guarantee nothing.

I don't know when people are going to let this fallacy die.
