I can get a pretty decent bass response. Not overpowering like other products which I see as an advantage.
Same. I use mine mostly for studying and find Hans Zimmer’s music to be particularly decent sounding through my air pods. I won’t upgrade but will likely look at the AirPower.

I'll gladly buy a new pair of AirPods with improved audio quality, but big boomier bass isn't what I'm looking for.

I think they sound good already, but improved detail and clarity would be my vote - the normal things that more expensive headphones gain. The main thing that impacts bass with earbuds is the seal in ear, anyway. Hopefully they won't go all Beats on us. I think there's a good balance with bass right now. More bass could be good if controlled.

Although the gripping matte would be welcomed, is it enough? I don't know. I wouldn't be comfortable to use it for gym/running personally (it already falls out too easily for me to the point I returned it on day 1), but it also lacks a good seal. I currently am using the Jabra Elite 65t Active and I got to say, the seal and the stability on these are pretty much perfect. I don't think the Airpods 2 will be offering me enough to contemplate switching - perhaps when they introduce a proper sports-orientated one with better seal and in-ear moulding.

What are you doing to them? When new I was getting 4 hours at medium volume, easily.

One of mine broke during the end of the warranty so less than 12 months and they only replaced the broken one. Now I can easily tell how bad the wear is cuz the old one (they didn’t replace) dies like 30% before the other one

AirPods have always been hard to get, but it's getting ridiculous! We just went to China to visit in-laws and had to bring some Apple goodies (a tradition of sorts for us) - this year it was to be AirPods. Went to 2 Apple stores (TWICE!) but didn't have any!. Then we tried Target - nada - and a couple Walmarts. We finally got lucky because the person at the second Walmart was on the phone with a dude in a third and asked them for us. Turned out that one had 5 pairs left. We snarfed up 3.

My AirPods are going on 2 years now and I've definitely noticed reduced charge on the pods - I barely get an hour out of them when, I think, it used to be 2. Might just have to bequeath them to my daughter once the new ones come out :)

Agree, the battery degradation after the 12 month warranty is worrying.

I use my AirPods for phone calls as much as anything. More bass would only make calls worse. I’d love to see some audio settings that allow you to set equalizer settings for different audio uses like music, calls, movies, etc.

Apple won’t sell the first GEN AirPods alongside the second GEN AirPods. Why? Because they want the consumer to buy their newest product, by offering an older accessory to the first GEN AirPods, that will just detract away from sales. The first Gen AirPods will likely be discontinued.
Hey, look at this! You can get a new phone.

Or an iPhone 8. Or an even older iPhone 7.

We now know why apple didn't go down the route of having a cable between them...to save on warranty costs :D

Your comparison is not even remotely related to my post. The iPhone is updated annually, the AirPods is not. This is an accessory to the iPhone, that’s likely on a two-year release cycle, there’s no reason for Apple to offer the first GEN AirPods for sale next to the latest version of the AirPods whenever they are offered. Again, It will only detract away from sales, being there is only one other version offered, they likely will discontinue the first Gen AirPods, with the announcement of the second GEN AirPods, whenever that is.

Just battery wear and tear over time. I got the advertised 5 hours when I first got my Airpods, and they barely last two hours these days.

Still, well worth it for the comfort and convenience they have afforded me these 2+ years.
Mine are exactly the same now. They are 2 years old and I’m getting 2 hours on maximum volume. I used to get 5 hours when they were new. Still love them though.

The battery degradation could be an issue as more people pass the two year mark of owning them, which seems to be the point where the AirPods are almost unusable. My pair, bought in December of 2016, only last about 45 minutes now. I've never had a tech product lose so much battery life so fast. For $50, I wouldn't mind as much. For $160-200, I'll buy something else. I think they're overrated anyway.

Better audio quality? Matte finish on the case? Come in black?

Why not? They already do this with the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and MacBook.

They raise the price on the latest model and keep the price the same on the old model. Then they allow thier resellers to sell the older model at a discount and also sell it on their Web site refurbished.

Mine were ok up until about 3 months ago. It’s onlt been in the past few months that I’ve noticed the rapid decline in battery life.

At some point it was rumored the new AirPods would be water resistant - that would make a big difference for me because I ruined one pair by using them on the beach after swimming - the water in my ears messed up the sound permanently.

Any new info on water resistance?

Those are core products updated annually/more frequently. The first Gen AirPods are well over two years old, maybe on a two year Release cycle. I really don’t think there is a need for them to offer the first GEN AirPods alongside Gen 2, which I don’t see Apple discounting the first Gen any further, when they want the consumer to purchase their latest version of the AirPods. I would also be willing to believe it may depend if Apple does raise the price on the AirPods, The article indicates a $40 price hike for the Gen 2 version, I don’t believe that to be true for the AirPods, there might be a price increase, but not $40.

Nothing confirmed, but I believe that they very well _could_ be water resistant rated as an improvement for Gen 2, even though I think the first GEN AirPods do really well against moisture and even using them in the rain, but water resistance almost seems like a must for Gen 2.

I really like my AirPods. My only real issue with them, and now more especially with these new ones which will cost more, is the price.
I mean it seems you'll only get about 2 good years out of them and batteries are not replaceable.
I not sure spending maybe $269 Canadian (for gen 2) for something that only lasts a couple of years is worth it too me.
Too bad any changes/improvements to Apple products automatically seem to justify price increases.
You'd think that overall, electronics prices should go down over time.

Gotta makeup for the 9 billion they didn’t make on iPhone sales somehow

I’ll stick with my 1st gen until they break. Best earbuds I’ve ever had

Mine broke, the right one disconnects all the time, that’s why I can’t wait for the upgraded release.

Why a damn heart rate monitoring sensor? Isn't that what the Watch is for? Are they going to add health features to all their products now? Just STOP!
