If it's too inconvenient, then just don't reply. I'd rather have no answer from you than a condescending one.

FWIW, many people before me also asked the question and no one bothered to say the iPhone still controls the volume until a few posts later. When everyone says "no volume control but Siri", to me that means NO VOLUME CONTROL except through Siri.

Obvious answers are obvious for a reason. But I apologize for the condescending tone. I've woken up extra grumpy today.

Uh oh - I jogged 3 miles to the Apple Store (I was the guy in the blue Nike hoodie behind you) to get a pair to supprise my fiancé who's birthday is the same week as Christmas. Hopefully she doesn't read macrumors and see me in that picture and spoil the surprise. She wants them so bad I might have to wrap them and give them to her tonight.

Glad to see another MacRumors contributor was in line with me
You should be okay, it's not like you stand out or anything

Be nice... Siri is my mom's friend... she does call her every profanity in the book tho, to be fair. Guess they have a love-hate relationship.
To my shame, I have done the same to SIRI in many moments of frustration.

About half of these episodes devolve into a witless battle of my (5th grade level) frustration vs. an AI whose favorite comeback is, "That's not very nice, Andrew."

What's weird is that users on Reddit are reporting that a number of stores had a ton of airpods already reserved when people showed up. Seems like apple may have allowed in store pickup purchases in some places? Employees buying them up before people can get there?

Interesting if you ask me. The fashion place Apple Store (south of salt lake) we were all told something similar-that there was a line already at 6:30-they only had 20 and got names and sent them away... by the time the line was formed and Store opened at 9:00 we were told better luck next time.

Sounds like someone is scamming if you ask me. If they really were claimed before opening where the hell was the print out sign that they were out for the day-and apart from that there wasn't anyone there from the original line at 6:30...

Shady shady Apple employees.

Thanks for sharing. You have a 3 year old iphone, 4 year old computer, and many other outdated products per your profile. Maybe those of us who are excited are a little more into having the latest and greatest technology when it comes out. Early adopters always pay a premium.
Since no one has heard them yet, how do you know they're the greatest? They're certainly late!

Sold out at SoHo but they told me they'd already had 2 shipments and I waited for a 3rd and I got two after waiting about 40 minutes.

Fashion place in salt lake area had 20, line had formed by 6:30-they took names for reservations and let them go-when the store opened there was about 15-20 of us, who were all disappointed.

The two other locations in salt lake showed they had stock but didn't open for another hour-I'd be damned to try my luck at the other locations by that point.

IMO Apple really needs to step up their launches-these last minute (self imposed deadlines) with limited stock is bull*****.

Not just AirPods but the MIA LG 5k pre-orders...

Station park in Farmington didn't have any at opening. Just demo units :'( there were maybe 10 people in line. I was first and got there just 15 mins before opening.

Nobody hears of any technology until it comes out.. hence how it's the latest and greatest. Not saying they'll live up to Apple's hype, but typically doesn't say products will do things and not deliver on those features.

The manager showed us his Apple inventory that showed stock in Farmington and city creek suggesting we try there...

Pretty sure they snagged them for 'friends'.

I was there with my daughter about 15 minutes to opening, there were maybe 15-20 of us by the time the door opened... a lot of disappointed folks. At least we weren't waiting in the cold like many.

But what if you're socially nervous and would rather change the volume discreetly? I usually turn volume way down before walking into a building or public transport, I get super self conscious about other people hearing my music because I absolutely hate it when I can hear someone else's. It's such an obnoxious thing.

The volume buttons on your phone will change the Airpod volume.
