yeah given UK is one day ahead of US, you can pretty much get it the same day as US delivery starts.

Or not until January if you have been paying attention to the updates

At this point I think there's a very good chance the ship dates are not correct in the UK and other markets. It seems the dates are only slipping in the US, so I think Apple's systems are busted outside the US.

Good point.

Yes that could be true, happened with the iPhone 7 orders I believe. It will be interesting to see, I got my order acknowledgement at 14:25 GMT. So let's see how that compares with US orders and others from the UK when it comes to dispatch notifications.

They've slipped in Canada too.

Maybe North America is linked together somehow. I don't think they've slipped anywhere outside of this region?

Anyway I'm absolutely guessing. I just fear here's another screw up and there are going to be some very disappointed customers receiving emails later this week. Again I really hope I am wrong.

I didn't know they had similar problems with iPhone 7.

It just seems every product Apple launches all over the world is always supply constrained for months, so it seems somewhat unbelievable that reasonably affordable Airpods in Europe are widely available 6-7 hours after going on sale for launch date delivery - while in America the dates were slipping within an hour.

Some people have had review units since September. John Gruber talked about them on his most recent podcast and stated it's his favorite Apple product in a long time. As for the Airpods slipping out of ears, I'm sure that's more related to the user's ear shape, but there's this as food for thought.

Agreed regarding user's ear shape, but I take everything Mr. Gruber says with a grain of salt. He's been know to be quite the App-ologist.

I'd rather hear whether or not people don't like them, and why they don't.

People will buy Apple stuff just because it is Apple, so I need to hear the other side. The headphone-jack-less iPhone being the most glaring example. Need to push past the cheerleading all the way to honest opinions.

Well we can all spend an extra $100 and buy them on the 21st on eBay. Great.

Let's just see what shipment times really end up being. I think Apple just gives you the worst case date and they have things figured out well enough to do that.

We will see. I will be sharing my experiences with them when I get them, should anyone care to listen. I might like them, or I might end up being disappointed. Time will tell.

For me, I intend to use them outside when I am on the move. As such, I would prize convenience and ease of use more than sound quality. At home, I have a pair of Sony headphones which sound great.

Just hope I don't be that guy who ends up dropping one of the Airpods in the toilet bowl...

Oh, Man!! That would be terrible. You get burned twice, 'cause you have to reach in and get it out.

At least with wires your hands can stay clean...:p

Apple said they will be available at their stores next week.... maybe somewhat limited in supply but why not check them out? That's my plan

You won't have any choice. If these sell really well then at some point Apple will remove the ability to use wired ones. It makes the device itself cheaper to manufacture. Right now on new devices you can't listen to wired and charge at the same time. You know at your desk, when you are working.

Sure I will. Plenty of Android devices out there. Apple does NOT do anything special. Certainly nothing I can't live without. The competition has caught up, and in many areas, surpassed Apple in the mobile space, from my consumer perspective at least.

Yes, they make all the profits, blah, blah, blah. Good for Apple, not for me. I'm out of the walled garden, and I've been out for YEARS now. Free and happy, even if a little dirty sometimes.;)

Aren't the original wired version of these earphones known to sound pretty lousy? Does anyone know if these are expected to sound any better?

From what I understand, these new AirPods have the best sound quality of any bluetooth earphones ever made. So I'm very excited to get these in my ears.

I wasn't expecting Apple to suddenly put them up for preorder today, so I missed it and now have to wait 4 weeks :(

I'm 100% in on Apples EarPods (my favorite headphones) and can't wait for my Airpods to arrive.

BUT.

Do NOT be under the impression underlined, it doesn't bode well for you on these forums.

Jumped on these, arriving 19th Dec.

I don't understand why the press e.g. Techradar and people on here have so much against the price. Sure, they don't sound as good as other headphones that cost $160. Sure, they probably don't sound as good as other wireless headphones that cost $160.

But damnit people, the buds weigh 4 grams each. 4 grams. And inside such a tiny package is an independent wireless bluetooth chip and a battery with 5 hours of battery life. There's no wire connecting them, they're TRULY wireless. And they come with a tiny little case that keeps them safe and charged.

What totally wireless earbuds, with no wires connecting them, and which are independent bluetooth devices that can be used in mono, are even out yet, let alone cost $160 and pair seamlessly with all your devices?

In the U.K. I will be selling Apple string to tie the 2 together, various colours and lengths starting a £50.

It was the delayed shipment notifications and actual delivery delays with iPhone 7 for some customers in the UK with UPS.

You can already see these are the same idiotic shape as the current wired ones. What's the mystery?

How can Apple fail so miserably over and over again with earphones? Or, better question, how do such stupidly designed products make it out the door there?

Jony Ive needs to be fired. This is embarrassing.
