People saying these are too expensive have the wrong mentality. Aside from the mental images conjured up of you in your rusty, dented ,1991 Honda Accoird, with the driver’s side window that won’t crack up anymore. You are looking at it wrong. It isn’t that these are too expensive, the problem is you simply do not earn enough.

Now if you look at it that way you can do something about it. You can not lower the price of the headphones howevere you could take some of the time it takes to post here everyday and improve your marketable skill set.

You could probably earn enough in one or two shifts being a mall Santa to obtain these.
what a stupid post. so if you don't buy something, it only means you can't afford it? my growing ignore list just got longer.

I was able purchase one for pick up in the bay area (space gray). I love my airpods pro, I own the sony XM3 headphones and while I agree with most people here that the price is ridiculous, and it wish it was 399 - i didn't want to wait 12 weeks to try these out so I budged.

I hold HD650s and Focal Elex so i can use those as comparisons, but while the pandemic has stop me from traveling - this might be something i can consider for travel and work. It also helps that i have multiple Apple devices and the seamless connection works.

Audio is a bit different than standard pricing - it is not linear. If i want to upgrade my Focals to a better set of headphones, i'm paying for 400+ just to get 10% better sound. Usually price to performance on audio equipment has a saturated curve.

That being said, my Focals and HD650s are designed to last me 10+ years while these airpods with alot of the power coming from a chip might be costly to change every 3 years or so.
I am sincerely interested in your impressions once you pick them up and try them, if you don't mind sharing. I think I was too late to check stores in the Bay Area myself!

That's absurd. Would you say the same if Apple priced them at, say, $5K? Just earn more, right? The high price is justified only if the product delivers accordingly. Let's wait for the real reviews (so far we only had reviews from the reviewers pre-selected by Apple).

On the other hand, if you are talking about Apple cult then sure, the price is an abstract notion. I am curious how many people who are buying these $500 headphones never had high-end headphones before? We have had those for decades so one did not need to wait for Apple to release them.

If you can’t save up a lousy $550 for something you want, you have a problem earning more than Apple does with it’s pricing.

Just ordered mine from my Apple store (Cincinnati,OH). Same day delivery in 2 hours ($5). They were gone this morning but just showed up again (4:20 EST). I think they only had pink around noon. The closest store in Space grey was 2 hours way. Just checked to see if they still had them. It showed the the Kenwood Mall now had them. Go figure.

No being able to afford it is fine. Incessantly whining at prices claiming they are too high is becoming annoying. It isn’t a Ferrari, it’s not a mansion in Malibu. A kid bagging groceries can have one if that’s what they want.

Read your post again. Does it make any sense? Talking about price without considering the merits of the product is nonsense. I am not going to buy anything that is not worth its price. Only idiots would do that. I might prefer $4K Audezes or something like that IF they deliver on their price. If some other head phones cost $200 and sound better than APMs why would I buy those?

Every post here talks of the price with out knowing the merits of the product. How many people commenting here actually have one or used one? My problem is there are many people that have this sense of entitlement like they deserve them whether they can afford them or not.

I am talking to the crowd that can’t really afford them more than the crowd that can. If you can afford them and don’t want them we really have no bone of contention now do we?

To be honest, AirPods Max are AirPods Pro, but AirPods Max come in colors, and over-the-ear headphones. So, you don't need to spend 300 more dollars on AirPods unless you really want them. And I recommend to trade-in old AirPods to get the AirPods Max for a cheaper price.

I have noticed the headphones are sporadically coming in stock for pickup here and there. Like one color in one or two stores in a region.

They really are worth the cost, minus 50 bucks for that horrific “case.”

Just got a pair in Space Gray in NYC. Here only 3 color options were available at 8am: Space Gray, Silver, and Green. The green one was only available at 1 store. As of now, only 2 stores have the silver. Space Gray is selling out pretty fast as well. It looks like the entire stock will be gone in an hour or so.
UPDATE: all Apple stores in NYC are sold out now.
I saw them early morning today here in Canada but the stores that had them were about 45mins away from me via public transit. Also Quebec had today a weather of -12C to -15C which is quite the conundrum (either by car or transit) so there was hesitation for a few minutes... and then they were ALL GONE, some didn’t give a damn about the weather or distance.

I’m wondering if they get stock on a daily basis and at what time does the online store refreshes for buying with the pickup store option.

FedEx really blew it with the delivery of mine. They shipped overnight on Monday from a state almost touching mine and I should’ve had them Tuesday. Instead they went to a hub 6 states away, and I’ll have them Wednesday if I’m lucky.

Was getting ready to buy the Sonys until the reviews for these came out. Stainless Steel vs Plastic. Sound quality on the apples are superior and the ease of use, not to mention the noise cancellation. Yeah I’m getting these

My AKG $199 K271 headphones work fine for music creation when I need to get a good balance. AKG also makes a $450 consumer listening wired headphone so it looks like the Apple phones are right in that higher end consumer listening market.

Myself, I’m still using the $19.99 wired Apple earbuds for my daily walk/run and also as a cross reference for the lower end listening experience.
