powerbeats pro on sale for $199
airpods without wireless charging can be found for $130 and with wireless for $150 right now.

everyone needs to get over it. Apple uses the word "PRO" to mean a model that has extra features over another model they already sell. iPhone 11 (good) + extras = iPhone 11 Pro (great.) AirPods (good) + extra features = AirPods Pro (great.) iPad (good) + extra features = iPad Pro (great.)
Yes!! Thank you, this is so true. Please, can people stop wining about the use of the word ‘Pro’. You aren’t smarter than Apple just because you think is should be applied differently.

Your responses mean nothing. I'm just speaking for myself here so chill out. There could be 50 tips and it still not fit as good as the first gen for me. There's no way to try until I had them in my ears and reading an article isn't going to answer that.

I realize there's a "transparent mode", I'm just saying I would probably never use noise cancelling.

I have sweat and been in rain and yada ya and never once messed up my original pods.

I could buy twenty of the "new and amazing airpod pro" and my wallet wouldn't notice it but that doesn't mean I think it's worth it.

My response mean nothing? Seriously man?

If the tips are replaceable (they are) you can buy them from numerous sources, just like beats and everything else. You'll find some that fit, and the AirPods will tell you whether you got it right.

"Transparency mode" actually uses noise cancelling, so if you use transparency mode you are also using noise cancelling.

Your one datapoint re: sweat is completely irrelevant.

What's funny is you post on a public board, then when someone calls you on it you say "well all those facts are irrelevant to ME." So why did you post? Just to tell us that your ears are special?

Or... PROfitable.

Definitely.

1. I am tired of Apple trying to upsell every single product now, in a way that it has not done in the past. We used to have the iPhone and the iPad, but now the new features are only available in the iPhone Pro and in the iPad Pro. The AirPods were released in 2016 for $159, Apple launched a $199 model earlier this year, and now a $249 one. Profitable indeed.

2. I am tired of Apple’s erratic behavior in releasing products. The AirPods were released in 2016, and the second generation launched in March 2019. Why are these coming out just a few months later? Especially when it took over two years to launch the second generation? Apple does not seem to respect its own product cycles. I bought 2nd gen AirPods a month ago, I will not even consider this new one now.

I don't look at it as it's only $50 more than what they have now. What they have now is overpriced for what they are. This should replace those older ones at that price point. Their competition is offering the same features for much less. And with battery degredation airpods don't last long as is.
<snip>
Are you sure about that?

btw, expensive is not the same as overpriced. If they were overpriced, they wouldn’t be selling tens of millions of units per year.

Just buy them, then return if you don’t like them. I would feel pretty bummed if they become out of stock for the rest of this year because they are really popular.

You’re right, and knowingly how popular the first GEN AirPods are, and now these being launched today, these could easily push all the way into December by the time Apple can fulfill orders. I would expect probably by the end of the day, orders will slip all the way to the end of November. Seriously though, they look awesome and the enhanced technology involved is way more than I expected.

I will be getting this WHEN they go into the Refurb store - I don't see $249 worth of parts for this

When is the Apple TV Pro coming? What about the Apple Watch Pro?

This is getting way too ridiculous.

It most definitely is not ridiculous. It's a naming decision. Some people wanted noise cancellation and more features, so they are offering them... while still offering the normal ones for those that prefer them. Quit whining about what they decide to name them. "Put your big boy pants on" and learn to live with how a company decides to name a product.

Serious question... is the competitors staff that comes up with negative talking points short-staffed today? The Pro naming decision appears to be all that they could come up with :D

EVERY SINGLE TIME Apple releases new headphones there are rumors of colors. They are ALWAYS wrong. The white color of Apple earbuds and AirPods are the most iconic thing in the world, it screams to the world about how popular Apple products are when you see a pair in someone's ears... companies would DIE to have that kind of branding... so why would Apple make their headphones in new colors so people have a more difficult time telling who is using an Apple product? These are wishes and fever dreams of folks and nothing more... white is the color of Apple branded products that go on or in your ears.
White doesn't identify Apple products anymore. It hasn't been the case for a long time now. Look closely next time when you see white earbuds : Almost 99% of Androids phones come with white earbuds.

In fact, if Apple came with colors for their earbuds, THAT is when you'll be able to know it's an Apple product and not an Android , because EVERYONE is using white today.

you have only to look at competitors offerings, features and price.

They haven't really shipped any of these yet so we won't be able say for sure. And people buy overpriced stuff all the time. They have no patience or willpower. There comes a point where no matter how good something is, it's still not worth the asking price.

Well, you would obviously wouldn’t see $250 worth of value if you have not experienced them, but since you’re waiting for the refurbished AirPod Pros, you can probably snag a pair probably by the end of 2020/early part in 2021.😁

Just in time as my original Pods are now barely getting 20 minutes on a call before I get the battery tone. i don't wear mine 24/7, only when making or taking a call or listening to music so 4 hours is usually more than I will ever have them on at one time.

Plus they have a 30 day return policy if I don't like them. And I believe I can add AppleCare+ within 60 days of purchase, I believe.

Does anyone know when earphones can be replaced using AppleCare+ for a diminishing battery?

"AirPods Pro use an innovative vent system to equalize pressure, minimizing the discomfort common in other in-ear designs"
Excited about this; For the first time I'm willing to test such an in-ear design; I love AirPods/EarPods because they don't cause discomfort. I always hated other in-ear models; Hoping AirPods pro is addressing that problem with the vent system;

Waiting for first reviews. The "original" airpods were garbage in terms of fit (a faster walk and boom, looking for them on the ground, especialy the right one). If these "stay in" i might be tempted...

I ordered the APP, the previous generation did not fit in my ear and I like in-ear pods tbh. Some people like them others don’t. People complaining about these still have the option of the previous gen granted without ANC.

These are going to sell out quickly and will be on back order if the past is any indicator. Best to order and not work for you as one can away return it rather than wait past the holiday season for some.

I think the pro moniker is ridiculous, but been waiting on in-ear from Apple for awhile, just don’t care for the Beats brand.

Excited to try these out.

I just bought the Beats Pro from Best Buy... Thinking to exchange for these! I just hope they work while running (which is why I sold my air pods)

The value approach would be to make wireless charging standard at $149, instead of the stacking approach where it is simply added to the bottom of the stack. The XR being sold as a cheaper alternative to the 11 is also a form of price stacking, designed to entice consumers with a lower point of entry, after which they see the missing features and end up looking further down the stack to the 11.

I was fine for 3 years without wireless charging on the case - I'd prefer not to spend any additional money for it. If Apple only offered it with wireless charging it would be more than $149.

I just ordered the airpod pros and if I could have saved anything by eliminating wireless charging for the case I would have...

I suppose what’s lacking is a reason to buy these if you’re already using airpods and battery is still decent.

And yet I just did to try them out. Lol.

Well, noise cancellation is a huge feature, and makes them very much different than the original. So I too will get them to try. But like others I’ve had a hard time getting other brands to fit comfortably in my ears, so we will see.

In my case, the original AirPods design fit my ear perfectly so I'm not sure whether or not it would be worth it to buy these. I never really liked the in-ear tip design because it always felt weird and I was always paranoid they were never sitting in my ear properly no matter how I adjusted them.

Anybody in the same boat? I'd love the active noise cancelling but I honestly feel like I'd end up not liking the tips.

I do need an upgrade since I have the 1st generation AirPods. Should I get these or AirPods 2nd generation?
