In my case, the original AirPods design fit my ear perfectly so I'm not sure whether or not it would be worth it to buy these. I never really liked the in-ear tip design because it always felt weird and I was always paranoid they were never sitting in my ear properly no matter how I adjusted them.

Anybody in the same boat? I'd love the active noise cancelling but I honestly feel like I'd end up not liking the tips.

I do need an upgrade since I have the 1st generation AirPods. Should I get these or AirPods 2nd generation?

same, the Airpods are the only "earbuds" I find comfortable enough.

Order both, return what you don't like.

smh @ at all the people complaining about the price. they are only $199 more than air pod base model and they have so many advanced ANC features that are more expensive on other headphones or around there. beats studio 3 pro are $349 for noise cancelling headphones (that sound like garbage). sony and bose offerings are not cheaper than $249 and these are small airpod sizeD!!!!

If Apple only offered it with wireless charging it would be more than $149.
Please elaborate as to why it wouldn't be possible to have wireless charging standard at $149. Component costs are slightly higher, yes, but there should still be a comfortable margin. I am not someone who cares about wireless charging, but those who do will have more incentive to upgrade to AirPods 2 from AirPods 1.

Edit: I meant $159 instead of $149, same starting price but with wireless charging included.

I like this design better. The shorter stem with the slight angle are much more attractive. This is actually good for certain earrings that I wear.

BUT for $249, these need to be as good as my QC35ii in the noise canceling department. I know the sound won’t be the same which is fine, but if the big seller is NC, I need to see what these new AirPod Pros are really about.

Not bad though, I’ll be giving them a close look.

I like what I’m reading about sound quality... but as someone that uses mine to talk on the phone a lot, I was hoping to hear more about microphone quality improvements as well. Maybe they are there.

Wearing headphones all day for work is bizarre? No need to be insulting.

If the AirPods Pro had better Battery Life, I’d get them. Since they currently don’t, I won’t.

Yes, wearing headphones all day for work is bizarre.

I wear my headphones at work, but at most for 3 hours at a time. I take breaks, have meetings, have lunch, talk to co-workers, all without the headphones on. Plenty of time for charging at lunch and after work.

That's some mighty price tag. I just bought a pair of BT in-ears for less than $50 and they sound amazing. Maybe Tim Cook thinks we are all billionaires.

You think the AirPods Pro are expensive in the U.S.?

Apple has just unveiled the prices here in Brazil: they cost $560 here. More than double.

They don't need better battery life, because the case negates the need. Anyone that has used AirPods for the last 3 years will tell you the same thing. Wearing headphones for 12 hours straight without a break is bizarre and probably a terrible idea.

What do you expect from things you put into your ears? What would an appropriate design following you look like?

I do not like the view either, but it is just like huge on-ear gears, making you look like ET or whatever.

PowerBeats have a better design, not like q-tips hanging out your ears. 🤣

So if these are 'wireless charging' capable, AND if there's a way to connect to older aircraft audio 'wired' adapters, then I'd get these. Otherwise my original AirPods and Sony over-ear NC model seem fine... anyone know if you can connect to IFE systems?

I’ve looked at other offerings, but don’t see the same features for much less. Which ones are you talking about?

“Not worth the asking price” to you maybe, but if tens of millions of others willing pay the asking price, it’s worth it to them.

Expensive/high priced is not the same thing as too expensive/overpriced, is it?
Samsung galaxy buds come to mind at $129(cheaper from other retailers). There's others.
But we don't know if tens of millions are willing to pay the price. They haven't even shipped. And there's all kinds of sales on the existing airpods bringing their price down to more reasonable.

I think it's the same thing, yes. But I can see how some would separate the two.

I would say ANY buds priced over $200 are overpriced. No matter who makes them. There comes a point where it's just not worth it, I don't care how much they pack in to them.
Even the $199 airpods with wireless charging are too much. Luckily you can find them on sale for $150 which I feel is maybe more reasonable for those.

American currency is worth 4 times that of the Brazillian Currency.

So, a $249 product in the U.S. should cost about $1,000 in Brazil. $560 is about HALF of what U.S. Citizens are paying.

Can someone please explain what is "PRO" about these?

The same thing that makes "Pro" all the other Apple Pro stuff.
They are their top of the range. That's it.

Trust me, you can work professionally with an older iPhone, a bog standard iPad and a MBA. No problemo.

It should be possible. AirPods probably do not cost as much to manufacture today as they did back in 2016. Three years later, it should be possible to add wireless charging without adding to the cost.

But, again, Apple sells the products for the price consumers are willing to pay for them, not for the price which it deems fair. If people keep rushing to the stores every time Apple releases a “pro” version of its products, prices will keep going up indefinitely.

My response mean nothing? Seriously man?

If the tips are replaceable (they are) you can buy them from numerous sources, just like beats and everything else. You'll find some that fit, and the AirPods will tell you whether you got it right.

"Transparency mode" actually uses noise cancelling, so if you use transparency mode you are also using noise cancelling.

Your one datapoint re: sweat is completely irrelevant.

What's funny is you post on a public board, then when someone calls you on it you say "well all those facts are irrelevant to ME." So why did you post? Just to tell us that your ears are special?

Transparent mode...who cares...I'm aware you don't have to use noise cancelling so stop being pedantic.

Yes, your response means nothing to me because I already stated how I feel about them. I can read and synthesize information and formulate my own opinions. To me, I don't see the value. That's all my post was to say. I guess thanks for pointing out what I already knew?

Sorry, forgot to inform the currency.

Here in Brazil the AirPods Pro cost 560 dollars. In local currency, it costs 2,250 Brazilian reais.

More than double the price.

Does anyone know if you can "tap" to change songs, or start and stop songs, like you do with the non-pro airpods? Or do you have to use the force sensor?

Keep in mind 12 hours is if you just do passive listening. I use mine for music, podcasts, and conference calls every day at work so I need the 12 hours because calls consume more battery life than passive listening.

In reality, I may get 9 hours of battery life with my use case.

Everybody that is complaining about the price:

Sony's WF-1000xm3's are 250€, Airpod pro's are 279€ in Finland. Both offer ANC.

Sennheiser Momentum true wireless were 279€ when released earlier this year and they don't offer any ANC, they just sound sound really good. (I own the Sennheisers and have owned Sonys. I also own pair of Sennheiser HD800S - headphones so i can compare these to "reference" sound)

The Airpod Pro's are upgrade over regular Airpods in terms of sound quality. If they are anywhere near the Sennheiser/Sony - sound quality. (I hope they are) Then the price is competitive 100%.
