THIS RIGHT HERE is why Apple removed the headphone jack from their phones.

Not innovation (although these are innovative).

Not for lack of space.

And DEFINITELY not for "pushing technology forward".

Apple did the right thing. I can't stand wires anymore. I can't work out in the gym with wired headphones. The wires snag on clothing and pull when you move and come out. Sometimes they have pulled my ears where it hurts.

Wireless is the future. You don't need to buy Apple's options. I tried many other options, but the AirPods worked for me best.

If I didn't have money to afford AirPods, I could have run the wires for the headphones under my shirt. But I didn't like doing that every day. Very annoying. It's worth it not to.

For my job as a football referee, I need to run the radio transmitter wires under my shirt, and that's a pain. I wish there was a better solution to that. Those wires still snag occasionally under my shirt. And it takes a good 5 minutes (with help) to run them every time.

If I didn't know these were designed by Apple and somebody would tell me that I would never believe it...

This is a product that should have only ONE version of it. This one. And be priced around $150-$175.

I'm pretty blown away the "pro" version of AirPods have LESS BATTERY LIFE. LOL

That is the one thing that really sucks with this new product, especially given how degradation has gone on previous AirPods.

These are $250+ tax and will be borderline useless in 2-3 years with no option other than to replace them.

If you are somebody that really needs to use them to their fullest extent continually, you are now on the cycle of $80-$100 a year for… Headphones?

This talking point is moot if you consider and purchase Apple care @29+ this covers one free battery replacement And I believe it’s good for two years? Someone can correct me. If you’re spending 249$, 29 more dollars is not bad for something that can add 2 more years of use
Disposable electronics are a disaster for the planet.

sony wf-1000xm3 $228 on Amazon --These have ANC and are the ones to beat, + they are cheaper than Apple. Lets see how the Apple ones sound...

Does the case for the Sony's have Qi wireless charging? that could be the extra $20 difference right there.

It's not just the sound quality, it's the seamless integration with the other Apple devices as well as the ability to do things like use a single pod while the other one is charging, which is a fantastic feature if one takes a lot of conference calls or listens to a lot of podcasts during the day.

I can put the AirPods in and be parked at any one of my many Apple devices and simply choose the AirPods from the audio source menu and I'm listening to them without having to fiddle around with manually pairing a BT headset to a bunch of different hardware devices I own.

The range and ability to play with my phone in my pocket without cutting out is also unparalleled and I have gone through a LOT of wireless headphones. I can sit on my sofa 10' away from where my ATV sits in an entertainment center and just steer the audio to the AirPods and it works perfectly.

I ordered yesterday around 12pm MDT but unfortunately mine won't arrive till Thursday.... well, we have a blizzard here so Friday maybe more realistic.

I can't update my iPhone to the latest iOS (I have an iPhone 6 Plus). Does this mean I can't use these?

I also took the plunge and the early reviews have me stoked that these will work for me.

aside note: Mine were originally 10/31 last night with preparing to ship. About 2;30 they sent email they shipped an now they are to arrive “opening day” of 10/30... I guess they have them near to my area, apparently they are ready in several areas to be here on 10/30-31

No blizzards yet here in Illinois, but we have some snow probable Halloween night and morning after so winter not too far away darn. I think warm days are past for most of the rest of this year. Maybe wooly worms were right LOL

From what I've read you need 13.2 for these to work.

What doesn't work if your'e not on 13.2?
Surely they work as normal bluetooth headphones on non-iOS devices (and sub 13.2 iOS devices).

What's the skinny on what is limited by iOS version requirements?

We're getting the crap beat out of us here in Colorado so stand by to stand by. These Winter storms tend to head east and pummel you guys.

What time did you place your order? Mine went to Preparing to ship yesterday late afternoon but I haven't even received an order email. Placed order at 12:30pm eastern time.

Yes I watch weather as one of my hobbies as a retired geologist. I am watching the progression of storms so that we get some snow Thursday night to early am. Right now with warm ground it probably will melt sounds like a dusting to maybe inch. But looking at some of the forecast models for this second storm I wondered i back of my mind if we might get more than they are guessing ;-)

Just got the shipping notice. It should arrive tomorrow, one day “early”. :)

Per Apple's website:

System Requirements
iPhone and iPod touch models with the latest version of iOS
iPad models with the latest version of iPadOS
Apple Watch models with the latest version of watchOS
Mac models with the latest version of macOS
Apple TV models with the latest version of tvOS

I got my order in and a reply order processing at 11:47 AM CDT. Can you see the order processing in apple store app?
