Wha tis with these youtubers who think normal AirPods sound bad. They are clearly bias, the original AirPods sound amazing for what they are... in fact some of the best sound.... NOT THE BEST, but still much better than most..

Maybe they think they sound bad?
Opinions are subjective.

"Sound amazing for what they are" - I don't know how to quantify and react to that.

For the size?
The Price?
Compared to other Apple headphones?

NOT THE BEST, but still much better than most..

That's essentially a "Bezos chart" of a review.
Basically no context and data that's just fabricated and/or subjective anyhow.

amazing how nobody commits to commenting on sound quality. It's like they are scared of being honest or their own opinion. MKBHD's only comment was not bad. What does that mean? He compared the noise cancellation to the beats but how about the sound quality of the airpod pros. Bass, transparency, even a few sentences would help.

its an initial impressions / unboxing... he said he would have a more in-depth and technical review later on.

Where can I read anything that these people wrote? Who has time to sit through the same, contrived hype reels for 3-4 minutes of close-up shots of the products while the "influencer" drones on about the packaging? MKBHD can get the click from someone else, but these 5-10 minutes "impressions/unboxing" videos are as close to worthless as a 30-second tv spot.
Hey, if you're content to generalize and judge without actually viewing, more power to you. Who has time? It's just an assumption my me, but I think the person who has time to converse in a forum with me, probably has a few minutes on their hands. ;) :D How you choose to use 'em is how you choose to use 'em.

Click, don't click. Who cares. It does seem a bit unfair to pass judgement blindly.

Does anyone know if the new AirPod Pros have active *mic* noise cancellation, this to mute out street noise as you're walking around a city?
Yes. These are ANC earbuds. The "A" stands for active. Even a cursory skim of the article would have told you that.

OP specifically asked about microphone noise cancellation - he even put stars around it.

Why Youtubers? The 3 Ive seen vids are posted for- MKBHD, SuperSaf, Ijustine- carry what, 15+ million combined subscribers?

So Apple just got these in front of 15+ million eyeballs for giving away $750 worth of Airpods (not even as the "cost" is less to them). That's a marketing STEAL.

They didn't give away anything. Those are test units that have to be returned to Apple.

Really excited for these. Seems the reviews are mainly positive with the new tech, but I’m already showing a November 15th ship week. But.....Apple tends to under-promise—> Over deliver. Ready to order.😁

"integrate into their lifestyle"?
lol - ok

Honestly, there's nothing a superficial YT review can really share that's going to actually answer that other than buying and trying them.
How is "integrate into their lifestyle" a joke? People want to know what basic features a product has that would benefit in how they plan on using the product depending on what they believe their needs are for their life. And sure no one has straight up said "Dumb YouTuber" but it's very easy to read between the lines of a lot of comments of members blowing these people off because "they don't know anything" and "are just YouTubers," which people HAVE said.

I apologize for replying to you and blowing up at you specifically, but the comment sentiment that these people shouldn't be taken seriously happens every time MacRumors shares these kinds of videos. And it just gets annoying to see over and over again. I'm not trying to convince you to watch them or like them, but it really shocks me how users on here act dumbfounded that anyone would want to see a product review from someone who speaks to an average consumer.

Why do people put up with 💩 sound quality? I've listened to lots of Apple/Beats headphones and NONE of them come anywhere near the SQ of my Sony WI-H700 (h.ear Series Wireless In-Ear High Resolution Headphones).

People are dumb.

OP may very well have been asking about noise cancellation for the microphones, so that others don't get street noise when you call them. No need to reprimand them.
Exactly! I'm interested in the microphone's ability to cancel out street noise, so the person on the other end of a call won't get inundated with all sorts of random sound.

Re: reprimanding, it never ceases to amaze me how awful some people are on this forum. They're mean, angry, lacking empathy and just general humanity. On one hand I feel sorry for them. On the other, I just add them to "Ignore" list, easy-peasy.

Why is everyone on this forum so set on gatekeeping technology? What exactly is wrong with someone who isn't super tech savvy reviewing a product from a "normal" person perspective? You all realize that the millions of people who buy these products are not people who are gonna sit and read some in-depth technical review about every little thing?

Average people want to know the basics - how well does it work and how does it integrate into their lifestyle? That's what all these YouTubers go over and the reason they have the audience. Good for you guys for not liking that and not watching the content this people make. You're sooooooo different and cool and smart. I swear people bitching about "dumb YouTubers" are more grating than the actual YouTubers themselves.

Exactly this..... There's a reason why she has millions of followers whereas a reviewer who is really techy and goes in to detail probably has a fraction of that. Most people are just not interested in hearing how the flux capacitor integrates with speaker to provide 30db milliamp sound lol. Plus she's probably a much better video editor than most of the nerds here.

Some people just don't put that much emphasis on sound quality and are not audiophiles.... Like for example most headphones sound pretty much the same to me.... I can obviously tell the difference between in-ear buds and overhead headphones... or if one headphone is more bassy etc... like the obvious stuff... But other than that it all just sounds the same to me. I have a masters degree from an ivy league university and a CFA so I don't think I am dumb despite my lack of affinity for perfect sound.

id like a detailed look on how you change the rubber tips.
I effing hating the jaybirds because those tips would always fall out and get lost.

There is an awful lot of negativity on this forum, but I'd cut @69Mustang some slack - his contributions are generally positive and insightful, he just misinterpreted this time (there are also a lot of posters here who read the article headline and don't bother reading the article before commenting).

Roger that, I will. Appreciate the feedback.

Someone on Reddit phrased what I'm asking in another way:

Whenever I use the AirPods for a call when I’m walking outside the other person is always asking what the loud noises are around me. The noises are so much louder to the person on the other end of the line than to me. It’s really quite annoying.

I'm wondering if the AirPod Pros have improved on that is all.

To expensive. Just bought a pair of “normal”, AirPods and couldn’t be bothered about these. No way I’d pay that much for Apple headphones, if I wanted high end “pro” ones I’d go elsewhere. My AirPods rock for day to day use and not that expensive.
I agree that AirPods are great, but don’t expect to find high quality, true BT wireless (no cheating with a collar), ANC earbuds for a lot less. I found some Sonys for $230, basically the same. And they look like earbricks. If you have an iPhone, you’re getting the APPs instead. What product with the same features (minus the impressive H1 chip) did you have in mind?

Regarding sound quality:

They've only had it for a day so I'm sure aside from Justine, they decided to reserve their judgement for the full review. Jims Review Room is a great source for detailed audio quality for audio products, can't wait for his review. He really puts a lot of effort in putting products through their pace and directly comparing them with their competition before he formulates an opinion on sound quality relative to price, size and comp - among other things.

These YouTubers are just jumping the gun for views, which I'm not mad at... but can see why we more thoughts regarding sound quality - but it's coming. Second video, more views, more revenue for them on a product line that is considered the most popular right now. Of course they're gonna milk it.

With that said, sound quality has a lot to do with the seal.

People think AirPods sound like trash because they aren't using them with a proper ear tip that helps seal in sound. Are they the best sounding, of course not, but for the size and convenience, they definitely DO NOT sound like trash when getting a proper seal - something I think Apple has realized with providing that with the Pro model.

Same with PowerBeats Pro. Prior to purchasing, I read many reviews about how good or how terrible they are. But the people saying they're terrible probably are not using the proper ear tip. It's amazing how much better the sound gets for me going from Medium tips to Large. The sound becomes more immersive, clear and rich.

I ended up returning the PowerBeats Pro even though they sound better than my AirPods. Once you go AirPods, it's hard getting away from that feeling of NOT feeling anything in your ears.

Hoping the Pro deliver in sound!

If these came in black I'd go for them. Prefer the style and shape over my PowerBeats Pro.

What's the battery life on these like? Haven't read any specs yet. PowerBeats Pro get around 7 to 8 hours in real world use, which makes them almost unbeatable for me. Something that lasts nearly as long but looks better and sounds as good would be grail.

I think they would look really, really good in black. Sad.

Im concerned the pressing rather than tapping will be an issue for running. Don't want to press/grab and have them fall out.....hmmmmm idk what to do
