Too expensive. Jabara Elite Active 65T are $100 cheaper and a superior form factor for anybody that walks on a treadmill over 2mph. They sport great sound. They have rock solid Bluetooth.

I get it with the YouTube influencers. This is what marketing looks like in 2019, but none of these reviews are particularly technical, as that isn't the wheelhouse for the influencer crowd. They don't deal in things like frequency response because they're not equipped to do so, so the entire first round of reviews (read: marketing) are basically a relegated to an internet-ready sizzle reel. Disappointing.

Edit: all I want to know is how do these sound compared to other popular wireless headphones (e.g., Powerbeats Pro, Airpods v1/2, etc.)

Wow, Apple's gone completely over to the YouTubers for early access. John Gruber et al must be going nuts. Gruber in particular had a cow when the iPhone 11 was released and the little YouTuber's got review units before him.

It's a new era, for sure. Apple will always have their Apple Bloggers and friendly media people, but YouTube is where it's at for new products.
They have millions of followers it would be a massive faux pas in today’s climate to not give them review privileges.

Massively overly rated. I tried them thinking they must be good with all the hype. So average in sound quality compared to sennheissers. Instant return.

That may be so, but given that (IMHO) the *main* selling point of the AirPods Pro isn't the fact that it comes with a wireless charging case combined with the fact that (IIRC) the current-gen AirPods in both the $199 and $159 models function and perform identically (when in use), I think there's nothing wrong with comparing the AirPods Pro to the $159 AirPods.

Or put it this way--I highly doubt most folks are thinking about buying the AirPods Pro (just) because it comes with a wireless charging case.
Nobody is going to buy AirPods Pro (just) because it comes with a wireless charging case. They can buy the regular Airpods for that. But it’s $199, which is my point. Only a $50 delta for the extra features mentioned (active noise cancellation, improved sound quality, and water and sweat resistance) not $90.

If one wants to compare the least expensive entry level of regular AirPods at $159 to the $249 AirPods Pro, fine. But when ticking off the features you get for that $90, Qi wireless battery case better be one of them. In the article, it’s not.

Oh, I agree---I returned those Jabra. Felt cheap and plasticky.

In 2 months we are in year 2020. No one wants to read anymore. I don’t. People writing just text are dinosaurs.

Anyway, I thought it was cool that it comes with Lightning to USB-C cable in the box. I assume the old USB A charger is going away in the 2020 iPhone as well? I don’t think they’re moving away from Lightning anytime soon, but the charger could get USB C.

I noticed no one is really comparing them to the gold standards of noise canceling e.g. Bose. I had The qc30 before upgrading to the qc35 which is fantastic to fly with. Hoping the real reviewers comment on this wrt other products
People buy Airpods because of their convenience and their "can barely feel them" comfort. I really don't get why anyone would compare them to big cans like this (I have a pair of QC30 too, but I don't like wearing them for more than an hour or so). Not at all comparable, especially when traveling.

Obviously you can't expect "audiophile" sound quality from tiny earbuds. As long as the Airpods sound "good" and the noise cancellation works well enough that I can listen to both music and spoken audio on an airplane without cranking up the volume I'll be happy. The Powerbeats Pro are pretty good for this (even without active NC), but unfortunately their case isn't really pocketable like the Airpods'.

Already did, 11 Pro and Pro Max have a USB-C charger.

I would never describe Bluetooth as “rock solid”
The real question is, has Apple done anything to improve battery longevity? I'm okay with paying $250 for a high quality, premium product, but I'm not okay with the product dying and needing replacement after only two years.
People use AirPods differently than typical Bluetooth headphones though. I think this is something owners and Apple themselves didn’t anticipate. People leave them in their ears all day long - I don’t even want to untangle the cord of my BeatsX when I go grocery shopping.

Not surprised. They probably "sell" it much better. Being very excited with the unboxing and all. Not going deep with the test and barely mentioning any negatives.

I’ve just watched MKBHD and he said his was just doing the unboxing and first impressions. They probably haven’t had time to do any deep testing.

Maybe iJustine was different. I really don’t follow her, nothing against her though. But I don’t know who that other dude is.

@kellte2 & @Rocko99991

Yeah - it's incredibly superficial stuff that's meant to be "beautiful looking" and just keep "showing it to you" and "making you want it" and "hitting the right spots in the brain until you hit the buy button".

This is where we've sadly devolved to now.

Lust and jealousy marketing that's "gorgeous" and as deep on the "review" front as a reflection pool.

Maybe iJustine was different.

Please forgive this take if it offends anyone... I'm sure she's a very nice person, but I can't help but think that her entire appeal is about making dudes horny while watching her.

The few times I've listened to her I felt like I was getting marketed to by the head of the high school cheerleading squad.

i agree to an extent but of all the videos here, she was the only one that took the airpods pro both to a street cafe and an airplane to test the noise cancelation... the others told us how quiet they were while listening in an empty room. so there is that.
That’s good, since she gets on my nerves I didn’t watch the video

I guarantee you nothing has changed on this front or Apple would be talking about it incessantly.

The reality is they are busy trying to greenwash their image all the time and they simply don't want to talk about what happens to their products like these in 2-3 years (they are garbage at that point for the most part)

I am most interested in some odd details. I had surgery on one ear, so one ear canal is slightly smaller and a different shape, and also I'm a bit deaf in that ear. So I'm curious if the ear fit test will test each ear separately. It would also be nice if I could use a different EQ in each ear, but that may be asking too much. But I hope at least I can change the L/R balance to compensate for my bad ear.
Then there is a bigger issue, since I my hearing is not so great, is it really worth it to buy $250 earphones?

That dude with the sunglasses superglued to his face is so cringe and I can’t take anyone seriously with an ‘i’ at the start of their name. I know which video I’ll be using for reference if I decide to buy these.

I don’t follow iJustine mostly because I just learned of her in the past year and I’m pretty loaded with content. I will say she’s been an Apple fangirl for a LONG time. I believe she took her high school senior pictures with her PowerMac G4.

Back then, Apple was all about the i.
