3 YOOTECH chargers cost a lot less.
So? They also take 3 outlets and a lot more desktop space.

You have the pricing for AirPower?

Cool story...they don’t do what AirPower will do though.
I don't but I just bought another 2-pack of chargers from Amazon for $11.75.
Yes, because outlets and USB ports are scarce.

Apple is a complete mess on this one. They can't get their heads around a simple charging matt? LMAO
Literarily. And no, there isn't a product you can buy today that does what AirPower is supposed to do.
Yeah my gen 2’s arrived yesterday with no AirPower illustration on the box. I reckon that those that have the illustration must have stock from 2018 that were piled up in a warehouseLiterarily.
On another subject, Apple removed the AirPower illustration from the back of the package on the AirPods manufactured this year... Whatever that means...

But after that initial shock you put your watch on it and your airpods on it and you see this tiny device that charges all your EDC devices at once through a single cable on this tiny surface and you know that it's a far superieur solution than having to juggle 3 cables and a power strip or multiple wireless chargers or having to switch out your devices.
Or just buy a charging mat for $40-$50 from Amazon?
Sure it will be a little bigger (but your devices are also bigger than airpower), it won't be white or come with an apple logo either... But at least it is available.
About the lightning cable. Could it even deliver enough power to charge an iPhone with 10-12W wirelessly as well as some other smaller devices? I really hope they go with usbc.
How about this one?
It even does fast charging, AirPower doesn't, according to the preview specs. It's only $45, oh and it actually exists.

We know the Lightning connector can handle at least 36W (2.4A@15V) so that's not an issue.
I expect AirPower to ship with the new 18W USB-C power adapter and a (hopefully 2 meter) Lightning to USB-C cable.
lighting = usb-c at least in terms of specs.

That's a couple of charging coils in the same enclosure, that's not what airpower is or what makes it great and unique when it releases...
In what way is Airpower different from a couple of charging coils in the same enclosure?
But the messaging has been terrible. There should have been some expectation management, even if just to avoid the disappointment last week. All it needed was a little controlled leak to Gruber and Gurman that AirPower wasn't coming any time soon, and us nerds would have known not to get our hopes up. At least, that's what they did in the good old days!
there are devices now that have up to 6 coils. and you can place them anywhere on the mat.
Mind to link such a device? Do they work well, are they safe? Can they charge more than one device on the same surface?
yes they work, and yes you can charge more than 1 device. this is a video of the new version for 2019
That doesn't look too bad. But hasn't even gone into production.
Using five overlapping coils is an approach fundamentally similar AirPower, however not quite as sophisticated, allowing for arbitrary device placement only along one axis, whereas AirPower allows for placement on the entire surface using a much more complicated array of presumably over a dozen coils.
How well or safe this thing works and whether it compares at all to AirPower we don't know since it doesn't ship yet and neither does AirPower...
