Too little, too late, I already have cheap YOOTECH chargers everywhere. Though they don't charge my apple watch. *grumble*

I also have a Yootech wireless charing pad. It has a green ring around the edge that lights up when charing. Pretty cool looking and works very well. I think I paid $10 or $12 for it on Amazon.

Anker charger prices are ridiculous, this will make an anker charger seem cheap.

I also have an Anker wireless charging pad which also works very well. I don't think I paid more than $20 for it on Amazon. Seems like the price was reduced at the time I got it. They do have some products that are more expensive, but they also have options that are less expensive. Maybe shop around before purchasing?

I'm also looking forward to AirPower.

Well actually← (uggh, do you just hate people who start off with that know-it-all phrase) it is wireless charging because there is no contact needed between the transmitter and receiver. That's why you can Qi charge through cases. It's near field charging. What you desire is either mid field or far field transmission. There are trade-offs though. Near field is the only way you're getting fast charging. Mid and far field will only be a trickle charge right now.

Ya, well having a "nearfield" usable distance of about 2-4mm from the wired device is basically a wired charger. Pebble, and Apple both did a decent job with magnetic connectors, mindlessly simple to connect and cheap, just say'n.

That said, I have Qi charges all over for my phone, desk stands, car docks, which are great since they save a lot of connector wear and tear while sipping power throughout my day.

Until you don't have to keep it on a pad, it's not wireless charging. That I need to pick up my phone to look at it to wake it, but I need to keep it flat on the table to charge it, seem to be at odds with each other somehow.
I thought similarly for a long time. Then I got an iPhone 8. Then I figured, "well, this Anker Qi charger ought to be reasonable quality (I've been pleased with their batteries) and is inexpensive, I'll try it, but I won't be impressed."

And now, I really like Qi charging - it changes the equation, charging my iPhone is no longer a separate "now I need to charge it" step, I just set my phone down on the stand and it charges. When I want to look at something I pick it up and look, and set it back down. Yes, it wasn't charging for that 15 seconds while I was looking at it, but it started charging again as soon as I set it back down, without me having to either plug it back in or concern myself with where the wire was hanging when I picked it up. The natural pattern changes to, "whenever you're not looking at it, it's charging", rather than having to decide that now you're going to plug in and charge your phone. Qi charging was the feature that excited me the least about the phone when I got it, and now I really appreciate it.

Apologies, but I'm not sure of the point you're making. You haven't stated anything that disagrees with my point that it is wireless charging, but the context seems to indicate you do disagree with something. I mean the 2-4mm distance is probably why it's called near field wireless charging and not contact charging.

They should make the base of the iMac Airpower - that would solve so many problems in one go.

...and wireless charging keyboard, magic mouse, magic track-pad.

That can barely fit a phone let alone 3 devices. Does it work with Apple Watch?

3 devices? Just buy 3, still a fraction of the price. It does not work with apple watch, my only complaint. It recognized AW3, but did not charge, doesn't recognize AW4.

Great concept, but I use a stainless link band on my watch so it can't lay flat, something most all other watch chargers account for.

And once again, the white pad like all other white cables and accessories will look pretty crappy after just a few months of constant use. Why a trillion dollar company is so stingy with color choices baffles me.
Snap.

As for sticking with white, simply brand recognition. It sucks but is has worked for Apple for so long now.

Apple plans to release its long-awaited wireless charging mat AirPower in "late March" according to Taiwanese publication DigiTimes. We're in late March now, so if the report is accurate, then a release should be imminent.

The report cites unnamed "industry sources" within Apple's supply chain:There are 10 days remaining in March including today.

DigiTimes has a mixed track record when it comes to predicting the timing of Apple product releases. While the publication has sources within Apple's suppliers in Asia, particularly in Taiwan, supply chain sources are typically more privy to what is coming rather than when. In short, we'll see.

There is certainly increasing evidence pointing towards an upcoming release.

Yesterday, after receiving a tip from reader Michael Bateman, MacRumors uncovered what appears to be a new image of the AirPower with an iPhone XS and the new AirPods wireless charging case on it.

MacRumors also uncovered evidence to suggest that Apple has secured the rights to the AirPower trademark in the United States.

Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple approved production of the AirPower earlier this year, and reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said the AirPower will be released within the first half of 2019.

AirPower is designed to charge multiple Apple devices at once, including the iPhone 8 and newer, Apple Watch Series 3 and newer, and AirPods when they are placed in the new optional wireless charging case introduced on Wednesday.

Apple introduced new iPads on Monday, new iMacs on Tuesday, and new AirPods on Wednesday of this week.

Late March of this year or...?

This is especially useful if Apple introduces a Magic Mouse with wireless charging, because the current charging method is as goofy, if not more goofy, than that of the 1st gen Apple Pencil.

I'd like to charge Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, Airpods, iPhone, Watch, Pencil, and an iPad all at the same time! "AirPower Pro", anyone? Or "AirPower Max" for charging your Macs!

Really feels like this product was ruined by all the Macrumors and other Apple site posts about it's 'potential' release.

But let's see what this has to offer.

It could be announced in the next week with an April release date, just to make people wait longer.
