Depends on what Mac you’re talking about. The first ARM Mac will launch before the end of this year. A safe bet is at the same October event that the iPhone will be announced at
Yeah. I bet the rumor about launching Watches / iPads in September is true because they're saving the good stuff (iPhones and Macs) for October.

They only need invites if they’re doing an in-person event.

They’re not doing an in-person event.
They will send invites for virtual events as well (as they did for WWDC). Do you think Apple is just going to pop up with a surprise keynote one day at 1PM? It would be over before people even realized it was happening.

Jon is tripping big time. It is almost September and your telling me that Apple doesn't have a clue when they will release an iPhone 11 Pro or Pro Max model... Yeah right!!!!

He gets a grade C. That's just average - like all of us here.
There’s been lots of supply chain issues. In addition he isn’t saying Apple doesn’t know when it’s releasing. It’s that he is unable to obtain a firm date. It’s entirely possible Apple is working on finding suitable dates.
Also calling a 77% prediction rate average because that’s a C in school is beyond silly. That’s a pretty good prediction rate and far above average.

Those "AirTags" will need a "choking hazard/do not confuse with your medication" label. Hope they have a key-ring/lanyard connection.

So if we keep saying airtags are coming eventually we’ll be right. 🙄 There might be an iPad announcement or maybe a iMac or a MacBook. Who knows we’ll just guessing and say we were right.

“Apple has never decoupled ‌iPhone‌ and ‌Apple Watch‌ launches”

Not true. Apple Watch Series 0 was announced 2014 but sold April 2015.....by itself.

What about iOS 14 - does Apple Watch 6 which will run Watch OS 7 require iOS 14? Because if it does just like the Watch OS 7 then how would Apple be able to release the watch before iOS 14. Unless they plan on releasing iOS 14 as a standalone OS release a month before the iPhone? Does not make a lot of sense.

So where do we stand on the status of iOS 14 - is it basically ready to be released now or does it still need work?

The iPhone is delayed. Just the iPhone. Only the iPhone. The iPhones will most likely launch with 14.1 or 14.2. The software is not delayed. Only the iPhone. The Apple Watch is ready to be released.
As for the stability of the current beta of iOS 14, it’s more stable than 13.0 and 13.1 were last year.
so, Apple Watch series 6, iPad, and iPad Air are launching in September with iOS 14.0.
iPhone 12 and 12 max, airtags, and the ARM Mac are launching in October.

What exactly the real issues ur referring to? No one seems to know.
Apple has already said the iPhones will be delayed this year. It is absolutely financially irresponsible to disrupt the current flow of iPhone 11 units by announcing a new iPhone 12 series a month or two before it’s ready to be released. It made sense in 2017 and 2018, when they already had product already in the form of the iPhone 8 an 8+, and the iPhone XS to be released in September. This year, they have no such product. All four iPhones will not be ready until October at the earliest. So there is absolutely no incentive for them to announce them until they are absolutely ready to ship.
I swear, sometimes you guys don’t realize that Apple is a corporation, and they make decisions based on what will maximize profit. Announcing a product over a month before it’s ready, playing commercials for it, lowering the price of older product, and in some cases discontinuing older product, not to immediately replace it with a new product is absolutely financially irresponsible. The iPhone 12 will not be announced until it is ready to be released. and as analysts, investors, Leakers, and even Apple themselves have said, the iPhones in 2020 will not launch on time.

These are all based on reports and speculations.

Well yes of course the OS is separate from the hardware. My point was is Apple ready to release the new iOS next week and then wait over a month to release the new hardware? When is the last time they did that outside of releasing a new OS within a few days of new hardware arrives.

If you believe the extreme time length of OS/hardware decoupling then you should all be talking about iOS 14 being released next week. If that does not sound right to you then the hardware releases next week are bunk.
