I personally would prefer the "launch edition" would be in one color and 2 capacities at a higher ASP to make as many of these as possible for those early adopters that have to own a phone on week one and don't care about color...then add colors, capacities, etc over the next 90 days as supplies grow.

Apple's first week numbers would be huge because the past few years, they've been limited in sales by how many they can get into the retail stores.

This article wasn't very clear, do they mean the iPhone 8 specifically will only have three colours or all of them including the iPhone 7S? The first three lines are confusing.

Because production starts so late which I don't understand but it's psychological hype to make you want it more.

They start production once the phone design and the manufacturing and supply line is ready for production. If they skip steps, maybe they end up with a phone that has to be recalled like the Samsung Note.

Yes, I think I'm hearing some stuff that suggests this is going to be a hot mess. If they are only making 4 million of these per month, then there will be a major grey market for them. Also it means they will probably be priced at $1,100 to start. Crazy.

But I will probably pre-order. I'm using a 6S and I'm not waiting another generation to replace it.

Bring back the iPod Mini colors!

This. I miss blue.

Could you please explain this to me? What metric do you use to justify colors that are old and boring? It's a color on an iPhone, not a car or house. I understand that Apple refreshes their color lineup typically on an annual basis, but what defines a color getting old and boring? It Seems all their iPhone colors are sold or used one way the other.

Fashion does. Style comes and goes in waves, and if you don't iterate enough, things get stale.

If Kuo's supply constraint prediction comes to fruition eBay scalpers are going to be renamed "The Artists Formerly Named eBay Scalpers But Now More Appropriately Going By The Sobriquet Gouging The Impatient With No Regrets" or wbyceiydbo for short.

Their motto: Back of the Purse - Bottom of the Wallet.

On topic: 3 colors - black, white, and copper... 2 outta 3 ain't bad.

It really doesn't matter to me the back color. I throw in a case day one and it stays there till the next model I get. In the past I have preferred the white front. Now, I'm waiting to see the top notch of the screen in white before I make a decision.

I don’t care about the back, what will the fronts look like on the silver and gold? Bezelless enough that it won’t have a ‘white’ front?
I can't imagine apple squeezing a thin line of white front between display and frame. So, yes.

All colors are okay. Too bad, the most gorgeous red color is not included. However, I will get all three for my special edition collection:)

I'd like a midnight dark blue color...

But anyway, if supplies are genuinely short, they may as well price the iPhone 8 at some ludicrous $1000+, as they will still definitely sell every single one the factories can produce. So why not make a load of money?! Heck, price it at $1500. They'll still sell every single one. The board must love Tim Cook and his ability to make money.

Looks like I will be skipping both the iPhone 7s and 8 and just get 2016 iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black. The 2017 models are just too polarizing and like they are trying find themselves. I will admit, they haven't announced anything yet, but 2014 and 2015, we had a clear picture of what to expect months earlier.

Buy "a Type-C power adapter" for fast charging!!!!

Buy Bluetooth AirPods if you don't want to use 3.5 adapters. Charge with lightning -> USB type-C macbook.

Seems a bit stupid for a $1000 iPhone!!

I am talking about "Silver" and "Gold" they are too long in the tooth and Apple should discontinue then. Apple should have retained "Space Grey" instead.

Which Is why I mentioned Apple refreshes their line up annually for the most part. But what metric is used to define what's old and boring Based on what the consumer wants. There is no way of knowing that, because of personal preference.

This does not sound right. Why would Apple launch red for the 7? Why would they go with the four colours for the newly launched iPad Pro? BTW, I think the rose gold is the nicest colour Apple have for the iPhone range and MacBook :) It's warm :)

Yeah it sounds familiar because these are the colors Apple has been using for years? And samsung copied apple's color pallet...

Seems odd for apple to be reducing from 6 colors to 3. I guess they are wanting to reduce complexity with SKU/manufacturing? Especially with apple releasing 3 models at once for the first time
It’s so they can release blue and light purple halfway through the cycle like the RED phone

Apple should discontinue Silver and Gold based on what? A lot of iPhone users like gold and silver, which some Prefer a white bezel.
