All 2017 iPhones to Come in Only Three Colors, Launch Simultaneously in September

It makes sense as three iPhone models in six colors (silver, black, jet black, gold, rose gold, red) is a whole lot of SKUs—especially when factoring in storage capacity. But that's too bad they only released a red model for half a generation. I really wanted to get one, but only if they released it with a black front on the new OLED model.

2 to 4 million? Ouch! And then divide that up by 3 colors and multiple storage tiers as well. That's going to be ugly. Maybe I'll get the iPhone 8 at the same time as my AirPods.

If the rumour is true, I hope the copper colour has the same tone and combination as my old copper sony Xperia z3. Glass back, metal sides, and BLACK front - please, please apple give us an option for black front with the copper. This alone would pretty much seal my upgrade.

They start production once the phone design and the manufacturing and supply line is ready for production. If they skip steps, maybe they end up with a phone that has to be recalled like the Samsung Note.

Yes, I think I'm hearing some stuff that suggests this is going to be a hot mess. If they are only making 4 million of these per month, then there will be a major grey market for them. Also it means they will probably be priced at $1,100 to start. Crazy.

But I will probably pre-order. I'm using a 6S and I'm not waiting another generation to replace it.

Given this matrix $ 649, $ 769 -I think $ 969 its a 'fair' price for the OLED phone - while I can afford it, I have no interest in helping Apple with their supply and margin issues - so the 7S its looking mighty good at this time.

It's a good business move on their part. My Samsung S8+ came with the fast charge adapter, but Samsung isn't Apple. If Apple can make an additional i.e. $49.95 selling a fast charger on top of the price of the phone that's a lot of profit.
It may be a good business move for Apple, but it's not the greatest customer facing move for consumers. From a consumer perspective it just looks like an unnecessary money grab. "This phone offers fast charging, but we'll be charging you $50 to use it." Looks even worse when other competitors include it with the phone. But hey, why would Apple give it away when Apple fans have shown time and again no matter how much they may complain they're generally going to open the wallet.

I am still waiting for this BEAUTIFUL colour, Apple must see this! :')

Exactly. Apple knows this and will use their customers wallets hard to make as much profit as they can as long as they can get away with it.

Apple: touchID removal will disappoint people, must try harder to embed it under the display, mass production will begin in October...

Apple: Release HomePod firmware & leak that we've removed the TouchID.

Us: it's okay, they will perfect the FaceID, it's even more secure..

Apple: STOP TRYING TO EMBED IT. START MASS PRODUCTION NOWWW WITHOUT TOUCHID AHHHH

My Jet Black looks like crap. Its all scratches and fingerprints. Yes, I'm sure there are others that says their is perfect, but I don't use white gloves to carry it around.

Don't forget to divide that by the carriers as well.

I can't imagine apple squeezing a thin line of white front between display and frame. So, yes.
So now the guessing game begins. Which color/capacity to order that will have the largest possibility of actually being in stock for more than 2 seconds. I’ve already got a gold 6+, so maybe a large capacity silver 8 will be less in early demand but still have enough stock to cover the preorders. Starting to get excited - it’s been awhile since I’ve gotten a new phone, and I love ios11 (though a lot of the changes probably won’t be as useful for me on a phone)

ALL 2017 iPhones, previously they were only saying the iPhone 8 but new report today they are saying it will apply to all of them

Thanks! I wonder why though. There was an article just the other day saying the three colours will be specifally for the iPhone 8 to make it more 'boutique', with the iPhone 7S coming in the same standard colours.

Bit of a bummer if it turns out to be true, was really looking forward to a Space Grey iPhone, especially since they seem to be going with Space Grey with their Pro products (Macbook Pro, iMac Pro, probably Mac Pro too when it's released) and I like having my devices matching :)

Lol, maybe.

Ah well, whatever the colors, I'll be preordering one of them, so I can be hopeful of getting one in time for my next birthday, which is in the summer.

I am hoping by the time my preorder actually arrives, that reviewers will have had enough time to shake them out and report any fatal flaws. Then I can return or cancel if it's going to be that bad. I can't imagine it will be that bad, but my iPhone 6 Plus was not the best ownership experience I ever had, so I temper my enthusiasm for the redesign with a healthy dose of very cautious optimism.

Hopefully they'll have a new red iPhone by the time I need a new one. My 6S has served me quite well so far.
