Dang pinkie, thats a lot of info on the EXO 5, you make want it even more now. I emailed them today and asked about signal loss. no reponse yet. I also know if you do not like the magnet idea you can request a screw type assembly. I am waiting to hear what head type the screws are that they use... Anyone know, hex?

I have been looking at the Exovault site for the last 6 months or so and had a little email correspondence with them, they do get back to you in a timely manner, Big +. I just really like the case, just haven't convinced the wife it would be ok for me to buy it. Looking back now I should have ordered right after I got my iP4. I would have it and could give a real review instead of spouting what the website claims. As for the screws I believe they are hex, that is how the older 3G cases were secured.

I just got a few days ago the EXO6 from exovault.com. Ordered in black anodized. I have been very happy. The worksmanship is amazing. No signal issues, and I was having dropped calls almost unbearably before. It is, quite simply, kick-ass cool.

They do respond in a resonable time... Here is some of the info I got from them:

1. The screws we use are 1/4 inch long hex heads counter sunk bolts made from 18-8 stainless steel. These do use an allen wrench (and we do provide one, though any hardware or bike store will also have the right key for the case screws. they use 2-56 threading so you can always replace them with some of your own preference. We use these rather than Phillips bits to avoid stripping the screw heads out.

2. The magnets we use are 1/8" by 1/8" cylynder magnets rated N52. They have about a 5 lb pull. so even when we do drop a case on the concrete floor of the shop here they stay closed.

3. The hinges are steel pins. If you are worried about durability might i suggest the screw shut version? that makes for a solid case, and if you plan on using a screen protector its the right choice. We machine these to extremely tight tolerances and the hinge case wont always close properly if a screen protector is present.

4. Outside dimensions for the case are as follows: 118.13mm tall X 61.41mm wide X 12.19mm deep

5. We do receive some complaints about signal degradation when using the case, this is to be expected with any metal case. It mostly depends on the quality of the network where yo are using it. We work in a basement in east broklyn and have no problems among the 5 iPhones here, other people have had issues inside thin frame houses. YMMV

6. We have a very generous return policy, though we do reserve the right to limits returns. We accept cases in like-new condition within a reasonable time of purchase and issue a full refund for the case. We can provide free replacements if a case has a defect, either a poor fit or a manufacturing flaw. And we provide repairs for a nominal fee for the life of the product. You can find a copy of our return form by searching for "exovault return"

7. We cannot guarantee the fit of third party connectors (now why those companies give these outside shapes to the connectors is beyond me)

Ok, Day 9 now after ordering an Atomic case and no word after two emails and my order still says processing. I don't trust this at all. I wonder if it's too early to do a Paypal dispute. I haven't done one before and didn't know how severe this is. In my last email I asked them to cancel my order.

FWIW, KarasKustoms seem to be 'on' for meeting their end of week commitments mentioned earlier by thepsychopinkie...

I bought one of their black versions on 9/20 early in the morning (posted earlier in this thread), and just received email from them with tracking number.

Yay!

And White/Rhino....you can start a Paypal dispute anytime....for me personally, 9 days is a bit quick to start one....but, they should be following up with you in the first place on status either via phone or email.

Even a simple and apologetic 'we're behind' goes over better than no response at all.

I thought it was early too and I don't want t take drastic measures but I got a funny feeling I'll end up getting a shipping notice in a few days and then have to send the thing back. I waited 2 months for my Vapor it's not that I'm not patient but their site said nothing about a wait and they posted on Macforums saying how fast they deal with questions and their great customer service.
I just don't have any trust at this point. Now their site says expect up to 3 days for processing.
Several buttons in their website don't even work. Most notably the return exchange button.

I got my shipping notice and tracking number earlier today, but i had the need to go for a motorcycle ride, new rear tire needed to be broke in. The Karas is a red one, maybe if Im lucky it will get here saturday.

Still loving the Vapor though, just eager to try out the other guys too.

Ok, I ordered the EXO5 black screw shut case. I will post some pics and a review when I get it. I will say I have had several emails back and forth with them and they are quick to repond and answer a wide variety of questions. $175.00 yes is expensive but if it looks as nice as the pictures it will be worth it.

Wow those dimensions are super slim!!

I just ordered an Exovault as well. I talked with Daniel there to make sure that the model I ordered was in stock, and it will actually go out Monday via Express Mail, so I should have it mid-week. I went with the hinged model, with a very dark green finish. Daniel actually pointed me to this one, as it's just a prototype of a finish they were trying out, and aren't selling yet (if ever). I loved it at first sight, so I ordered it. This is how a company should be. Very responsive, answered my emails within 5 minutes of me sending them, and even told me of a product laying around in the shop that they thought I'd like that they don't even offer for sale standard.

Here is the pic that Daniel there sent me of the case I ended up buying. It's pretty cool, because as of right now, I'm the only one that will have this finish!

Very nice Chris. I was speaking with Daniel as well. He certainly is on the ball.

Pinkie - I got the black screw shut version.

Just an update with my Atomic Case order.
They had a problem with the link for contacting them on the website. Because of this they did not receive any of the emails I sent previously.
I copied the address, sent them an email and the responded within the hour.
I was pretty impressed with the response time so I emailed them again and bam! they got back to me in 15 min. I sent another email and once again I got a reply in 10 min. It seems their comments about responding to customers in a timely fashion were spot on. I asked them for a refund on the case I ordered and it was credited to my Paypal account in less than an hour. They were very professional and courteous even though I was asking for a refund. That's a nice change. :D

I gotta say I was impressed with their attitude. I take back any negative comments I made about their customer service.

I'm on the same page thepsychopinkie... I just ordered one in Blue, and for sure still LUV'en my sliver/silver Vapor4 Case ;).

I'm so tempted to try this one out, but I'm trying to be patient and see what everyone's thoughts are when they start using them. And I'm liking the blue but really want to see what it looks like on the phone.

Some may have an issue with the Exovault and the Karas case. The metal comes right up to the edge of the iphone 4 touch screen. If you email or text a lot you will find it hamper your alpha keys in portrait mode or the space key in landscape mode. I don't own either case but I do have the rugged from innocase that also comes up the the touch screen edge and find
my typing speed and accuracy have gone down hill quite a bit. The space around the touch screen surface is clearly there to let you centre you finger to active the key. I just noticed that and it saved me from ordering yet another case:eek:

W/R could it be possible that my typing speed / accuracy become worse, NOT . Thanks :apple: :D

Let us know when you get it if you find this to be a problem. I could be wrong but from the pics it seems that the case comes right up to the very edge of the touch screen. It seems like it would interfere with the q,p,caps, back, return and shift buttons. If you have big fingers you would be hitting the edge of the case most of the time. I email my clients mostly on my Iphone when I'm on the go and thought that might be an issue.

I'll post my findings W/R +pic's ;).

It all comes down to taste. I think the new case is fugly. 4 big pointy corners .
I dont see the attraction. Thank god because I've see too many I like as it is but this thing looks like an overweight ninja star.
I hope I don't offend anyone who likes it. Just my first impressions of seeing it in those dark pics.

3?? Amateur! You've got to get some more cases just to post on here! I'm over 25 now for this stupid phone. And there are many people on here with more than that. Crazy people we are...

crazy or just...

How much have you spent on cases in total ?

I figure you could have bought a new phone for that much
