I'm glad the the new flagship phone is smaller than the 7 Plus
Still no leak for the event date, I'm hoping it's the 6th September with pre-orders starting on the same Friday. But this design looks great, I will easily pay the rumoured £1000 for it.
What is it that you expect? A triangle, circle or ?
Every phone needs a screen which has to be a rectangle. Needs a frame around it to hold things together.
Corners rounded, so nothing catches or at least a small radius.
That leaves the top and bottom sides, which can have a radius or be straight like in the old 4s. (My preferred design)
Besides that a lot of people will hide whatever design in a case.
Where is the problem?
I wonder if that notch will be black as well on the silver and gold phones. I can't imagine them making it anything other than black really (so contrary to all the mockups really). Still a fan of the silver, but I won't go for silver if the notch isn't black.
Which model does everybody want?

I plan on buying the 8 no matter what the price is. I'm due for an upgrade anyways.. might as well get the best of the best. I also plan on staying up to order it online. Even though the black is nice, I think I'm digging the white this time around. My concern is if I'll be able to successfully get it without issue... even if I have to wait an extra week, I hope I'll be able to get it.

Put on your hardware designer hat. If the entire screen is all screen, where are you putting the technology located in that cutout?
It might just be called iPhone. I expect an iPhone, iPhone Plus, and iPhone Pro. Same ideology as MacBook and iPad.

Pretty much the same for me. I was doing a new iPhone every year and hand me down the old one to my wife (2 year contract pricing, always around $200 for new iPhone). Did not do that last year. Now that we will both be off contract we will shop around for the best deals on 2 iPhone 8's even if we need to change carriers (You hear that AT&T)
Not yet, they'll install the OS on the device once the gold master is completed. Then final boxing will occur for shipment. They can build the devices and use a testing OS that has been shown on prototypes in the past first to verify all parts are correctly synced and in working order.
I don't want a Phablet so I guess anything in between is great.
Some of those adverts with the S8+ in seem to make it appear more and more like a giant appendage from you know where. Or did they choose actresses with extreemly small hands?
I hate when people complain about the design of the iPhone and how it remained the same on the 7. Look at the Macbooks, iMacs, iPads. Form factor has spanned many product releases. What we are looking at now is a matured product. I for one love the 6-7 design. I think its perfect.
I definitely will get all three colors with the highest storage for my iPhone special edition as soon as they are available. iPhone is an adult toy for me
So let me get this straight from the photo it looks like the iphone 8 will have everything but be smaller WOW.. That sucks i have a iphone 7 plus an want to stay with bigger phone so that means 7 plus S will not be any different wow im pissed
This. I have the 6S Plus. While I love this phone and would have a difficult time ever going back to the 4.7 form factor, the overall size of it has never completely grown on me. If it weren't for the screen size, I would have gone back to a smaller form factor. I welcome a smaller form than the Plus while still maintaining a screen that is just as large or potentially bigger.
Its how I look at it, but realise it is to a degree me justifying spending that much on a phone.
I suppose another way to look at it is that costs tend to fall when products mature, so arguably it wouldn't cost that much to buy all those separate devices now.
I guess its horses for courses, and people have different perspectives, and different points at which they will perceive value for money.
If the screen is bigger, isn't that the better option for you? Why do you want a bigger overall phone?
