That was my first thought is using a iPhone using mostly grey shades dialogs/notifications in bright sunlight situations, that would be hard to see.Rubbish. 50 shades of grey. Why is Apple determined to remove all contrast from iOS and MacOS?

Why not just a switch? The current page layout stays as a default UI, with the option to default to something else, like the scrollable vertical app list we get when going to App Library and sliding down.redesign the home screen
pagination still makes zero sense. just have infinite vertical scroll.

you don't know page 4 row 3 which makes pagination pointless. you know page 1 and page 2, with vertical scrolling, you scroll to the top for "page 1" and scroll down a bit for "page 2". also it makes widgets pointless as getting to page 4 of widgets requires 3 swipes.Terrible terrible idea. Pagination gives each app a spatial location. I know a particular app is on page 2 row 3.
Yeah, I honestly don’t see iOS/iPadOS going 100% visionOS design, it wouldn’t be practical. But I definitely see Apple implementing some touches of visionOS.That was my first thought is using a iPhone using mostly grey in bright sunlight situations, that would be hard to see.
The only releasing we had in iOS was brutal and in one step…..Apple doesn't 'do' major redesign. They do fragmented incremental updates, so not all portions of the OS & first party apps will be upgraded at once. It will be done over multiple years which is why iOS, iPadOS & macOS evolve at a snails pace.
I still think there's a chance Apple may decide to settle with the US DoJ and EU fairly soon and may push back the changes planned for iOS 18 to iOS 19 in 2025. iOS 18, as I said, may be more a tweaked iOS 17.x but with far better integration of third party apps, app stores, NFC access and even a separate dedicated Headphones app so the iPhone works better with third party software and hardware. Remember, iOS 18 is probably still in internal alpha testing, and the first beta for outside developers won't arrive until June 2025; there's still time to implement what I suggested by late May 2024.The Department of Justice lawsuit is likely going to go on for years.
And it’s very likely that iOS 18 is pretty far in the development cycle, wouldn’t even be surprised if they start compiling the first dev beta within the next month and a half or so.
everybody hates change until they actually try it.Everybody seems to hate this idea, but I’d be willing to try it so long as it were optional.
you don't know what exactly is on page 4.Pagination provides a visual cue as to where the user is within a list. In an infinite list, there's no top or bottom, which makes identifying your location harder.
Of course this is also the company that brought you the UI abomination called the dock, so it might happen.
what? you tap on top of the screen to jump to the top. if you want to scroll all the way down, you just use the scroll bar. no different than scrolling on the horizontal circles on the homescreen today but provides better usage.I absolutely detest infinite scroll. It makes it a massive pain to jump to the beginning or end of a page. one of the worst design patterns ever.
swiping to page 5 is gross.Gross. Save that for lagdroid.
As long as the skeuomorphism is designed consistently and thoughtfully. Since MacOS has brought back the 3D look, some of the application icons like like they've been carefully composed, while others look like they were made on a time crunch, and completely apart from the others.
Well, it wouldn't really be infinite, since presumably you'd have a finite number of apps.
Who is swiping. Most ppl use spotlight lol.swiping to page 5 is gross.
Your comment gives me more grace for my assessment than I was originally going to give it. The beautiful contrast in our modern OLEDs gives us such strikingly deep black colors, that switching to greys would feel weak. Hard to gauge the awesomeness of the glass-like without anything in frame in the camera app leak.Agreed. But how much color do you actually see in the Camera app UI? Most the color comes from what the camera is actually seeing. I think they will retain color, but everything more glass-like, just like VisionOS.
if you're using spotlight over swiping to page 5, that literally makes the pagination uselessWho is swiping. Most ppl use spotlight lol.
Currently either have a black-based background for the camera app. The alleged design uses a grey background and slight glass-like buttons more akin to. Vision OS and the TV app on tvOS.I'm confused. What is the difference between that alleged design and what we have currently?
Looks I touched a nerve. sorry..... discussing and offering personal preferences and opinions are much different than complaining and whining. The difference is very obvious. What's your preference? Everyone just praises Apple blindly with every move, or are individuals allowed to think critically?
Forums are meant for discussions, not gaslighting differing opinions just because it's not yours.
You've been here a while though, so maybe you just don't like that the paint is fading on Apple's facade and now the negative sentiment bugs you?
Not a chance.I still think there's a chance Apple may decide to settle with the US DoJ and EU fairly soon and may push back the changes planned for iOS 18 to iOS 19 in 2025. iOS 18, as I said, may be more a tweaked iOS 17.x but with far better integration of third party apps, app stores, NFC access and even a separate dedicated Headphones app so the iPhone works better with third party software and hardware.
