I’m sure that one of the reasons Apple will have the pill-hole design instead of just one big pill is that it’s unique (right?) and therefore the phone will be easier to identify as an iphone from a distance.

This is completely pointless.

It's not like they're gaining any major screen real estate that they would take advantage of - the tiny gains of a few mm's above and between the cutouts.

We know from previous form (i.e. iPhone 13), that even with the reduced notch size Apple didn't take advantage of of it e.g. fitting in the battery percentage.

Utterly pointless.

Just keep the smaller notch until there is a true, all screen completely no cutout/notch solution, or at the very least just a single pinhole. The capsule + pinhole look here is very un-Apple (i.e. not symmetrical).

Agreed. I assumed the iPhone 7/8 didn’t get smaller bezels because Apple was waiting to eliminate them entirely. Where’s that thinking gone now?

it doesn’t matter what size it is . People are still gonna buy it apple can not loose
Because it would be REALLY dumb to not buy a great smartphone just because of notches, pill-shaped cutouts, circular cutouts and whatsoever.

It will be something like this (one piece)

Please, no. How much more usable screen real estate do you really get with the hole punch design? It's not like you can read text with that area. From a visual standpoint, the notch disappears into the bezel under normal usage conditions; whereas the hole punch design stands out like a sore thumb.?

I dont know…personally I think it's even worse than notch. Maybe its habit for me now with notch for years, but we will see in september for real

Every phone Apple ever makes will be iterative. So will every computer, tablet, headphone, Watch... That's not going to change just like it hasn't changed.
Not really. iPhone 4 and iPhone X were really exciting updates. Also iPhone 6 was pretty interesting.

After 4 years in a row of incremental updates (XS/XR, 11, 12, 13) I was hoping for a bolder change.

No real complaints but I was hoping for something more exciting. Looks like it's going to be another iterative update.

IMO, "exciting" and "Apple" are a thing of the past under Cook. Exciting is risky. Exciting is 'different', and Apple doesn't 'Think Different' any more. They haven't since Steve died. The company simply manages for stock holders, including the large packages enjoyed by the company management.

Is this the "new" design? LOL. So same everything like the iPhone 12/13 but with the notch turned into an oval hole? But basically iPhone 12SS...

Hopefully the flat camera back is true though, you know, the only way to tell people that you are sporting the new bling. :D

They’ve committed to using a notch. Trying to move from that would be admitting they made a mistake.
It’ll be there until it’s eliminated all together with under screen technology.
It would be better to have it on both ends restoring Touch ID at the bottom.
