Same here - so I bought MagSafe.
D’oh! Those evil geniuses keep siphoning my monies! ?

The camera bump is now laughably large on the 13 Pro line. I’d be ok with a thicker iPhone if it meant a flush back camera system. As a bonus, I’d assume a thicker iPhone could mean larger battery. Win-win.
A larger battery would mean a heavier phone. They're already too heavy in my opinion - I miss the old lighter weight iPhones.

I really don't understand the asymmetrical design...
I'd still prefer a smaller notch (50% smaller than the iPhone 13), but if they must go the pill way, at least make one continuous cutout.
This design with the pill and the hole punch looks sloppy...

Two distracting holes vs one easily lost notch , another recent apple design fail

Bloody hell. I just want to check this is the same company renowned for their stunning designs? I’ve never liked the notch but I’d prefer it over this.

We've had the single notch for years now. Apple customers want a distinction from older phone models without sacrificing Face ID, AR and other front facing camera features. Apple is heading towards all screen but they have no need to rush to that goal. Only their competitors need to rush but that means they will make mistakes that Apple will fix. Just like every single year of iPhone release.
A notch is something distinct. This looks like a Samsung copy. If it was better somehow then I would say fine. I’m not against copying if it’s an improvement. The problem is it looks like they lowered the notch and filled a thin strip of screen above it so they just made more screen useless. Of course this is all speculation because we don’t know what they will do. Perhaps they’re going to make that little strip of screen do something but I can’t see what that would be. I agree they don’t need to rush but that doesn’t mean change something for the worse just so it’s a change.

And there were some who made fun of Android phones with the upper left hole punch. Apple’s design is even more ridiculous.
I made fun of android phones because of that stupid hole punch. I think it looks ugly. The only positive aspect is the hole punch uses less screen real estate. What Apple is doing is combining the ugliness of a hole punch with a chunk of screen missing like the notch. I will definitely not buy this if it’s coming out. I still believe this is some sort of joke Apple is playing on leakers

Distracting? Y’all can’t be serious lmao. I guess I should be happy to be in the minority where a notch and/or two small cutouts at the top of a large display don’t make me lose my mind / focus.

I respect everyone’s opinions. To each your own, but man… How is this topic causing such an uproar?

Well, unpopular opinion, but I like it. It has some (white) iPhone 4 vibes. And I'm pretty sure this picture is actually not the screen cutout. Looks like some pcb related stuff, with this lefts side not really a circle.
I'm sure it will end up being quite nice looking is the real device.

I‘m sure the notch haters will make good use of the ten pixels between the cutouts and the edge of the screen.
Precisely. Starting with using a wallpaper turning the design back to the notch :D
More seriously, there are a lot of thing that can be done here: a progress bar, some notification leds, some nice visual effects when FaceId is in use. It will most likely end up as just a disctinctive look for those new iPhones though. But who cares?

An image alleged to be the display schematic for the iPhone 14 Pro series has emerged online, offering us a look at the true size of the pill-shaped and circular cutout design expected to debut on the high-end 2022 iPhones in replacement of the notch.

The image first emerged on Weibo and was later shared by Apple leaker Jon Prosser who claims to have been able to "independently" confirm that the schematic is legitimate and depicts the "likely size" of the pill-shaped and hole-punch cutout. The schematic coincides with rumors that Apple plans to replace the notch on high-end iPhone 14 models with a hole-punch and pill-shaped cutout.

While the schematic coincides with the fundamentals of recent iPhone 14 Pro display rumors suggesting the end of the notch, more minor details defer from information shared by oft-accurate display analyst Ross Young.

Young, who has shared accurate information in the past, shared last month a front iPhone 14 Pro panel that shows a significantly smaller hole-punch and pill-shaped cutout than the one depicted in the schematic. Additionally, Young's information suggests the pill-shaped cutout will be centered with the display, unlike the schematics.

In a related tweet, Young said that the hole-punch and pill-shaped cutouts will debut in all models of the 2023 iPhone series, as they're only expected to be featured on the highest-end iPhone 14 variants. The two lower-end iPhone 14 models will feature a notch.

The indication that the 2023 iPhone series will continue to feature some form of display obstruction for the TrueDepth camera system will disappoint customers who were hoping for an under-display system next year. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said that Apple plans to place Face ID under the display starting in 2023, implying a full-screen design with no notch or pill-shaped and hole-punch cutouts.

The iPhone 14 lineup will include four models, consisting of two 6.1-inch and two 6.7-inch sizes. Alongside the higher-end models featuring a pill-shaped and hole-punch design, the entire lineup is thought to be gaining a significant redesign with thinner camera bumps, circular volume buttons, and a new speaker grill reminiscent of the iPhone 4. Base on the BIG DATA manipulation, and the real life example from Cambridge Analytica (FB data leaks), now I believe that someone is working to degrade APPLE brand image, by constantly sending false expectations to consumers. So that consumers will disappointed with APPLE products and services.

Probably someone pay for the "leakers" to work and keep release the "wrong dream/expectations/leaks". It is now data war.

Apple brought the notch to the Mac lineup and people believe they will move away from it on the iPhone for this? ? Apple will most likely keep the notch and make it slightly smaller until they are ready for it to be located under the display.

I think someone is trying to constantly attack APPLE by releasing a lot "half-true/false expectations" information to degrade the APPLE brand. The leaks (noise) is overwhelmingly cover the excitement of the APPLE products itself.

Someone is manipulating all this. Kind of like a digital war.

Honestly feel like I’d rather keep the notch. Doesn’t bother me at all, and blends in quite well when using the screen. I’m not too sure how a pill and a dot will blend in though, feel it will be distracting ?‍?
notch is a countless source of problems for multi platform full screen apps and games.

Appel even forbids you to hide it with a black area.

So is the "shame", Apple hides notch in the higher end iPhone models marketing footage.

This pill shaped hole will effectively render the same amount of screen area useless. The thin line above it isn't any good so basically you will have an uglier notch
