Wtf are you talking about? Apple BOUGHT Authentec, lol.. they didn't steal the company. Obv, they own the rights to a fingerprint scanner and do not have to pay anybody for it.

Before you jump into a topic read back a little further and at attention. Nobody said anything about Authentec.:rolleyes:

So they are getting rid of the headphone jack :confused::confused:

You would think if they labeled all other buttons on the phone in that picture they would of labeled the headphone jack too. odd.

Can't wait to hear the preposterous name Samsung decides to call this feature in their next smartphone...

Samsung Smart Square Finger Scanner Touch Whiz Galaxy Nebula Technology, probably.

This is funny. You're excited to hear them announce the exact same phone you probably current have. 5Same and 5Cheap.
Atleast Samsung changes the design...SOME from device to device.

And what exactly makes your passport biometric then? :confused:

The biometric passport can store fingerprints and other biometric data. They don't have to. The US doesn't require it. The RFID chip only stores the same information you'd see on the passport information page - name, nationality, date of birth, photo, etc.

Biometric is just the terminology used. I'll agree that it's not really biometric without fingerprints or retinal scans or other biometric data, but "biometric passport" is the name of the standard that most countries use for their passports. In fact, the US refers to it as an "e-passport" but it still conforms to the biometric passport standard.

Facial recognition can be used at borders to make sure the person holding the passport is the same person in the photo - that can be considered biometric. I'm not sure if any countries actually do that though.

But it's not a plain white wallpaper.

I wonder if Jony Ive is behind that design. The phone disappears into the background and the apps are highlighted. The subliminal message may be to focus on the apps and the functionality and less about the form factor of the device that provides it.

Other people can't express their opinion which differs from yours? You need to bash them for that? Wtf is wrong with you.

They certainly can. And I'm sure you agree I can express my opinion too. And that, I find the whole NSA thing boring.

Do you understand it? I'm sure you do. Good boy.

You know, they make Android phones. You could get one and stop complaining. iPhones will not be getting removable batteries or SD slots ever, sorry.

I've yet to see any phone in person that gets better real-life battery life than my iPhone 5 though.

I don't think it is right to simply dismiss him like this just because he expresses what he wishes to have. But you are right, there are other phones that offer this and it may be a surprise for you, lot of people choose them over Apple now, not in small part of what he was referring to.

You say removable batteries and SD cards won't be in an iPhone, ever, but the same way speculated about the NFC a year ago and now there is a good possibility that it will have it. So in other words, you don't know what will be in an iPhone in the future.

On the battery life, I wouldn't be so sure that it is the best. When I read people's wish list for the iPhone, better battery life is always mentioned. If it was so good, and it really lasted a whole day, I would imagine it wouldn't be that high on the list.

Meh. Still a small low-resolution screen compared to everyone else, no user-replaceable/upgradeable battery, no SD slot, no notification LED, weak settings (SBSettings/Notification Bar-like but at least it has one now so there is some improvement), UI going back to the stone age (flat? really? But then, with the low resolution screen you can't afford to spend pixels on proper borders), still no IR blasters (you might say it's for nerds only but pick up an S4 and try WatchON - it's designed for real people not dorks! When Apple finally offers an IR blaster with included universal remote you people who claim it's only for nerds will suddenly proclaim it's a must-have and that Apple invented it), air gestures, OLED screen, widgets, multitasking (2 apps on screen at once!), better task management, USB Host Mode (excellent for tethering a camera!), folders in the photo gallery (ZOMG! Organization!), standardized Micro-USB port (which does support MHL), and so on.

Oh, 5S will deliver 250 hours standby time? Sure, if you turn off:
* location services
* notifications
* wifi
* mobile data

And don't touch the phone at all, it will stand by for 250 hours. That is no great feat. When my car is idling it draws only .2 GPH of fuel, and yet that is a meaningless spec because what I care about is how much fuel it consumes at 65MPH, and how much power and torque it produces from that fuel.

In the real world you actually use your phone. How long does the battery last under actual use?

Don't get me wrong - I like the iPhone. I have had two, and still own one (I gave the other away) but Apple really has let it stagnate, unless the rumors have been wrong and they have a larger iPhone and a host of the features Competitors already offer ready to be announced.

Buy an android. Problem solved.

LOL. Seriously, why in the hell is he in a Mac forum whining about the iPhone when he has everything he wants in his precious Android phone? Some people can never be happy unless they can rain on someone else's parade.

You can own a Mac and an Android phone. You can own an iPhone and a Windows PC.

Shocking I know...

P.S. - this isn't a Mac (only) Forum. Also shocking I'm sure.

Haters

I do realize this is a free country (USA) from the last time I remember and this forum is open to all including people who disagree with or even hate Apple and their products, but why come in here and post and read when you hate Apple and their products so much. I don't hate Android products I'm just not a fan but I don't spend/waste hours on end ridiculing their products in the Android forums. Seems like there are more people in MacRumors now more than ever that come in here and post how bad Apple is and how great other products are. I'm just curious.

I'm well aware of that. I think it is perfectly fine for people to criticize features of the iPhone they don't like. What I have a problem with is people who seem to love Android and extol its superiority to the iPhone and then complain about why Apple doesn't make an Android clone. If he loves his Samsung phone why does he feel the need to whine about the iPhone when he doesn't plan to get one. Can you comprehend that?

Where did I ever indicate that I would be surprised that people choose other phones over an iPhone? Just because I prefer an iPhone doesn't mean I'm ignorant or naive.

The reason people thought there wouldn't be NFC was because it wasn't ready yet or they were expecting a different Apple solution. I'm aware that I don't know what will be in an iPhone in the future, but I'm 99% sure that a removable batter and SD slot will not ever be a part of any iPhone.

Again, I never claimed its the best... I said I've never seen a phone in person that has better real-usage battery life than my iPhone. That's simply my observation. But just because people want BETTER battery life doesn't mean that the battery life is poor... It's just something people always want more of. I'd love if my phone lasted a week, but for now, iPhone has the best real-usage battery life that I have personally seen.

Is that why everything on my iPhone looks so fuzzy?

Actually, yes, because they are relying a lot on subpixel rendering and hinting to display small-point text. Full-page PDFs are difficult to read on the iPhone but very easy to read on the S4 thanks to the smaller dot pitch - more pixels to render text properly without smearing the heck out of it.
