Based on the Apple logo being physically cut out instead of printed on the back, I m going for a light up Apple logo like the MacBooks - I suggested this months ago, especially for notifications etc and great for advertising as well.

I prefer the 5C design and materials. I wish Apple had gone that route for a clean seamless design

for every iteration of the iphone i've seen someone write this...and then after it comes out, out of a sudden, it looks so great and the cycle starts again...

So true. I still remember when iPhone 4 was leaked by Gizmodo. No one did believe Apple would do such "ugly" design!! Well, many now agree that it is the most beautiful iPhone design. I would reserve my judgment until I see the real thing.

Sorry have you just met Apple? Their whole ethos is if it's not broke...

One of the best things about having the same design for 2 years is a massive amount of choice of Covers / add ons and extras that you just plain do not get with ANY other phone.

........every cloud!

That is probably exactly what Apple were thinking all along......!

It's going to be hard to top the 4/4S. Aesthetically it was pretty close to perfect.

Nice to see Apple simply doing iterations on design rather then, I don't know, do something risky, innovative and interesting like everyone else?!?!??

Absolutely ugly and plain, looks like a toy, nothing will beat the iPhone 4 design and the build up that led up to it. Apple straight up got lazy and has no new unique ideas left in the tank, mailing this in for the sheeple who will buy it no matter what. Why bother when everyone will buy it.

Buy no matter what you say.
Complain no matter what I say.

Looks legit. I guess all these case rumours were in fact accurate.

Just the evolution of the current iPhone .

You know, phones can get *too* thin.... once I start breaking my super-thin phone from just being in my pocket, that will be a huge concern. If they can get it to the thickness of the iPod touch, that's really the thinnest I want. I need a battery in there too you know.

This is why LG and Samsung are developing flexible phones (not just displays) that will bend in your pocket without breaking.

----------

Instead of making the battery thicker which is of very practical and functional use they are making the bands thick? Hope the beats design hasn't rubbed on them!

Beats headphones are the best looking headphones around. That's why they are popular. Shame they sound like total crap.

I seriously hope those edge antenna joints, or what the heck they are, at the top and bottom won´t be in the final phone...It makes it look really amateurish and put together by pieces not belonging together...even if they are seamless in color . I´m usually not concerned with the tiny design decision of the next iphone, but if this comes true, someone must have hit Jony Ive really hard the head.

People are really misinterpreting these "antenna lines." According to the leaked CAD drawings (which nobody seems to be able to properly interpret), the top and bottom portions of the phone (which are the two cellular antennas for the phone) are seemingly a single piece, not two separate pieces of aluminum with a plastic line in between. And the way this part attaches to the enclosure, to me doesn't seem possible with anything other than Liquid Metal, the shape and fitment of the part is far too complex to be a machined part.

I know we've been hearing the Liquid Metal cries for 4 years now, but I truly think that this year might actually be the time. And since they aren't making the entire enclosure out of liquid metal, only the top and bottom edges, it seems very feasible that they could manufacture the material at scale for just this small part.

So quite the contrary. Jony Ive didn't get hit in the head, he's arguably doing some of the most sophisticated work of his entire career (also see the Mac Pro). The mechanical engineering of this part, the way the top and bottom edges attach to the enclosure, is incredibly sophisticated. I know most people in the Apple rumor community aren't engineers and don't understand what they're looking at when they see leaked diagrams, but I work in Sheetmetal and can somewhat interpret drawings, so this is just what I was able to gather from the leaked CAD drawings so far.

I guarantee this, when the real phone comes out, and we get to see the final product and hear the design story behind it, a lot of you all criticizing now are going to swallow your words. You can't get a true appreciation for something until you see it all come together. Bookmark this post and come see if I'm correct in September. And if anyone is curious which CAD drawing I'm referring to that shows to me that there are liquid metal components, I can post it.

The 4/4S were my favourite design. I never liked the 5 and 5S as it's slenderness made it very feminine to my eyes.

I'm looking forward to this one more than any previous iphone since it will give me my larger screen I've always wanted.

Now if only they could implement widgets to make use of all this added real estate. :)

Somehow this doesn't look like machined aluminium, but conventional stamped aluminium. Interesting, because that would decrease weight, but would also increase flex of the housing.

In addition, the thick lines seem out of proportion. I'm interested to see how the contrast between the lines and the metal is without that green protective film on it. Hopefully they are not very apparent in the final product.

*Yawn*

Luckily WWDC is around the corner and we get some real news.
Personally really getting bored with the mock-ups. I almost believe people are just 3d-printing the first supposed mock-up to fill the rumors. :p

from all the rumours and leaks, i don't think the iPhone would be ready for WWDC even if :apple: wanted to release it. Don't get me wrong, i would love for them to announce/release it, i just think peoples expectations get too high and then they are disappointed when nothing major is announced.

It's like with the iWatch, how do we even know that Apple are going to announce/release it this year, it could be a project they will work on for a couple more years, but people are already saying it will be announced "later this year" personally i hope :apple: are working on a 4.7" AND 5.5" iPhone to give people the choice. It will probably be announced and released in September as usual. I have seen no indication that an iPhone, iWatch or anything major will be announced or released at WWDC.

However i could be wrong and :apple: could surprise us all  :D

Thanks! You've calmed me! It makes sense. I was really afraid of those lines and even though I know that Apple would't do something like that.
So let's wait and see.

But I must confess that I'm a little disappointed in this design. It means iPhone design now follows iPad and iPod design. iPhone had always its own unique design but now it just looks like the other iOS devices.
