i bet they announce a 5.5" phone with 2GB or more of RAM and a few other goodies. the one more thing not being leaked

What surprises me most is that on a technology forum, people are content with 1gb of ram when it absolutely blows. Unless they re-worked something that doesn't lose our data in tabs when we're browsing (I can't believe I just said that in 2014), then yes the device needs more memory end of story. Why is it a discussion still? Makes no sense to argue that it doesn't need more ram.

It's simply because these problems do not exist!

Apple engineers are smarter than all of you with regards to iPhone platform... because they see THE WHOLE PICTURE, not just geekbench scores and what's in Xcode.

When you find someone who knows the platform from top to bottom, including all the intermediate prototype iterations that have been tried and abandoned for whatever reasons, someone who knows ALL the silicon without the pain of having to reverse engineer it, someone who has unlimited source code for the entire platform, including the hardware drivers, someone who's been on the iPhone design team since years BEFORE iPhone 1, someone who eats, sleeps and breathes the ENTIRE symbiosis of what comprises an iOS device in its entirety...

... Then I'll take you seriously.

"1 giger", we don't care if you take us seriously.

A comment like this makes me wonder why you even have friends like that if you're this impressionable.

dont take it so serious. i was obviously exaggerating #

I ride the S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams every day and see quite a bunch of iPhones... not sure which part of town you're in? which Uni?

and.. how's your boy Kay One doin?

those are the people (like me) that engage with their phone more because the apple user experience is simply better ;)

- oh i dont care about either one but i cant change my user name. i regret it everytime i come on here lol it was during my "rebel" phase back in the day #

My iPhone 5S crashed twice yesterday while I was reading Forbes in Safari (there were no other apps running) and my iPad Air crashes almost every day and it reloads tabs like crazy, even when I only have one website open! Besides, we don't get to use the full 1GB of RAM with the 64-bit processors.

Hopefully these leaks are wrong.

You missed the previous threads on this where you had many arguing that adding 1GB of ram would make battery life so much worse.
And it would. But I want to see the person who - when pushed for an objective assessment - would say that the overall experience is better with 1GB. To me, saying that 1GB also has some (small) advantages over 2GB is a way of saying that the glass is 10% full as opposed to 90% empty.

I guess we have nothing better to do?

These prognostications are fun but really?
People saying they will not buy a phone based on it's "supposed"
ram? apps crashing because of it?
The damn phone isn't even out!!!
I can run just about anything on my 4s and I have music and synth apps, how is it that people are running out of ram?
Ok, I have no idea about games..
How about we let the damn phone be released and seen then?

Note 4 is also clocked 100mhz slower then a8 so add 200-300 points if it were clocked the same.

For those trying to compare clock for clock and I'm sure geekbench is not optimised for 64bit on android so wait for true android lollipop with true 64bit support to compare them apples to apples

Will never be Apples to Apples because 1 is a dual core CPU with 1GB of RAM and the other is a quad core with 3.

Serious folks on here:p

If I had a shill account, this is exactly what I would say.

Like I stated in an older RAM discussion... My FireTv has 2GB and it blows all streaming players out of the water and it cost 99 bucks.

Subsidized, blah blah. I know all about it.

ETA: Might as well spout nonsense, moto g is awake and never reads anything for context and has fruit loops for brain cells.

Also, could you have picked a more ironic name...

Tabs reloading in safari, App crashing, etc. when I look at a phone I think where I'll be in 2 years because I'll have a contract. I can't believe you're trying to justify 1GB of RAM in a phone that is coming out and will be popular in 2015!

Why not? I have never even faced a RAM problem and if i didn't know it had 1GB i would notice anything.

Cool so now we can adjust this graph and say that performance flat lined.

Ridiculously bad move on Apple's part.

It's a modest improvement over the A7.

But if it comes with significant power savings (and thus better battery life), I don't think anyone will really care.

And from the 4 to the 4S, it was a 3.8% upgrade.

And the "we" in your posting are the 0.5% of users who actually upgrade from an iPhone 5S to an iPhone 6. Most upgrades will come from older models.

Maybe in the single core, but it got a whole extra core that year..not the best example:rolleyes:

Really? Because I don't have a shill account, and this is what I would say. I'm currently using a Lumia 820 that's 2 years old, and it has 1gb of RAM in it. I would expect more from a flagship device 2 years later.

One would hope so, and also hope they bump the ipad ram up as well.

The amount of people defending 1GB is insane. Is it because if Apple says so it must be okay? "Show me where you will need 2GB" "My phone runs fine with 1GB" You have got to be ***** kidding me! This is a premium 2015 device! It has to last people at least 2 years! It's crazy expensive! Sure! Let's keep the specs the same as 2012! Just...wow.

It's already been stated over and over that the battery drain from an extra 1GB of RAM would be far less than the constant reloading of apps or the refreshing of pages in Safari considering it has to use the cellular radio to download new data.

Considering my Nexus 5 lasts as long as my 5S did but contains 2 more CPU cores, 1GB more RAM, a 1" larger screen I'd say they would be just fine with adding another 1GB. Granted yes, the Nexus 5 does have a larger battery (2300mAh) but throw in the items above and I'd say its a pretty fair fight.

I'm sleep deprived. I think we are on the same team :)

I advocate MORE RAM!

It's fake. I can't browse the result on geekbench website. It seems to be done on 10:25AM, Sep 8, 2014 EST. Geekbench might remove the result though.

This topic and thread remind me of the Hercules video "disappointed". If you're interested look it up. It's in the first two or three on the first page when you search for disappointed.

I'm not getting a new iPhone but I am very interested in the new iPad Air 2. If it has ONE GIG of RAM, oh well, I will look elsewhere for a tablet computer.

Looking forward to the big :apple: show today!
