On a serious note, that thing looks sexy as hell. I'll take the 5.5" in 128GB black/gray/slate/whatever. Thanks.

They said that about the 4. And people got used to it. I still don't understand how people are so reactive to design aesthetic. You're going to put an ugly-ass case on it anyway, what does it matter?

That's apple's main selling point. People aren't buying iPhones for ios7 (or eye sore 7).

I watched the WWDC live and to be honest, I read about everything already online from websites like this...hardly any surprises anymore.

I'm confused by your complaint. Are you saying that you read rumours on a rumours site for Apple and they have ruined the surprise. Because if that is the case then it must mean you expected the rumours to be false otherwise if you expected them to be true and you didn't want your surprise ruined you wouldn't have read them. Then if you expect the rumours to be false and thus not ruin the surprise then I wonder why you would be interested in rumours that you expect to be false. Just askin'

Those antenna breaks look so awful... Like the clean cut on 5/5S. But seriously..... Apple spends so much money on R&D. Why can't they figure out how to get rid of those? -.-

Spend so much money on R&D? You mean like this? Yep, LG Prada was introduced in 2006.

Doubling down on security?
So the nonexistent, never announced, no even a peep mentioned iPhone 6 grande and 6 venti have been so "outed"...for the sake of a better word.

Anyone who honestly believes that Apple doesn't do this on purpose to creat spin and buzz is dulisional. Apple is continuing to lose market share to to Android phones...and Apple has no venti version so Apple allows these leaks.

Besides great products, Apple has even better marketing....oops. According to the long-dead Steve Jobs, that's a bad word...but applicable none the less.

If anyone is dulisional, it's you. And do us a favor, get things right! It was never said "doubling down on security" but "doubling down on secrecy"

Back to your fandroid club now....

Yeah man, that iPhone totally looks like Prada phone.

Question: When was a last time you had an eye test?

The design of iOS 8 and the hardware of iPhone seems to be getting uglier. I think Jony has lost his touch. Those breaks on the back make the iPhone look cheap.

Love them or hate them, the breaks are there for a reason. The cell antennas are placed at the top and bottom of the iPhone where the breaks are. If you make a metal encased phone you need a place for the signal to get out. The breaks are typically made of a different material (plastic usually) to allow for this.

after all the excitement of wwdc, back to iPhone rear shells and mockups for 3 months!

Yes. And a few more months of everyone thinking they know what Apple has confirmed before Apple even confirm it. Actually to some people and websites guessing what they think Apple will confirm and incorrectly calling it fact (instead of the rumour or guess it actually is) is how they make their money.

This isn't apple

This is ugly as crap and apple wouldn't release something so ugly.

iOS 7 allows you to switch instantly between apps and to resume an app. When you return to an app, you can pick up right where you left off. Multitasking doesn't slow down the performance of the foreground app or drain battery life unnecessarily.

NOT TRUE! Since iOS 7 Safari and other apps constantly have to refresh, heck even a tab has to refresh in Safari, switching out of this to copy apples definition of multitasking and switching back caused Safari to reload and erase everything I typed.

So, the main spec I care about is the ram, to stop these lousy app refreshes and reloads. If they can't fix that with more ram or fine tune ios 8 I won't be buying an iPhone 6.

Do you want to use the LG Prada?

Nuff said.

R&D is not just about appearance. There's this thing called user experience, and the whole software thing.

This probably is the non-anodized "raw" shell. Once finished those lines will blur away or be hidden completely by whatever existing/new and improved process they use to anodize/finish the shell.

Was afraid there would be too much bezel according to some leaks. But next to an iphone 5s the dimensions look a bit off (especially the home button). 2nd picture looks closer to something I'd see Apple releasing. Pretty happy with it. Hope the screen doesn't offset the bigger battery. I'm okay with the battery life from my 5S but I would gladly sacrificed 1-2mm thickness for a bump in battery life any day.

Videos screens are from:

Having a phone (My Moto X) that has the power button the side is so much more comfortable, esp. if the phone is going to be 4.7in/5.5in. No matter which hand you grip the phone in either your thumb or finger is right there on the button. Imagine having a large phone and having to stretch to hit the power button.

Go try an HTC One M8. It's power button is on the top. You really have to stretch to hit it.

Just curious, how often do people actually press the power button on their iPhone? I rarely press mine, instead using the home button to wake it. I sometimes press the power button to turn off the screen, but that's rare and usually just let it timeout.

I use it ALL the time. Have a passcode on my phone so I always lock it before setting it down somewhere.

Back to your fandroid club now....

“We're going to double-down on secrecy. I'm very serious about this -- double-down.”

Though questions have been raised in the past if in fact Apple is behind controlled leaks.

Is it just me who thinks that if this is the new rear panel, that it is unfinished? Could a coating or finish of some sort not be applied meaning that those breaks will not be seen by anyone other than us rumour-obsessed internet types? Just a thought from someone who has no idea on the manufacturing process of these types of thing.

Please, just please, give me one thing.

Give me a power button on the side. I don't care if it's 4.7in or if its made of paper, I just want a side power button.

Good point. As the iPhone gets bigger, reaching that button is going to get even more awkward.

I know these things always look better after they have launched, but those random blobs at the top and bottom look really ugly and unfinished.

It almost looks as if they should be covered up by something, perhaps a thin layer of sapphire that wraps round the whole phone. :D

Edit:

Is it just me who thinks that if this is the new rear panel, that it is unfinished? Could a coating or finish of some sort not be applied meaning that those breaks will not be seen...

Just saw your post. I can accept the need for some kind of antenna, but I can't help thinking Apple would have made it look better if it had to be on show. Why not just thin horizontal lines like HTC use – to make 3 parts instead of 5? Putting breaks round the curved edges, as well as horizontally, seems to be a strange design decision that makes the phone look unnecessarily busy...and Apple is usually all about minimalism.

I can't understand why everyone hates those antenna breaks . I think that they make the back really beautiful , because without them it would look like the back of the iPod touch and iPad ( just a piece of aluminium , nothing special). But until now , I think the best design was the 5's with the chamfered edges surrounding the glass and the aluminium. The glass breaks were really beautiful and made the back more than just a piece of aluminium. But now that they are gone , those antenna breaks aren't so bad. At least it is better than nothing on the back. I wish they could keep the glass breaks on the top and the bottom , but I have no problems with this design.
Here is how it would look without those breaks: ( the fake leaked images earlier this year)
