Yea right. Stop indeed. Stop moving with the world and stay stagnant in your timeline. How long have we had usb-c? Apple released the first usb-c with MacBook in March 2015. Sure the lightning was introduced in September 2012 with iPhone 5. But now it’s 2019. Your argument has been outdated for 4 years now. Stop defending Apple.
The point is that the iPhone has an entire ecosystem of lightning accessories and Apple can't afford to just switch like that.

I see it as the price for having gotten lightning in 2012 compared to sticking with the 30-pin connector. It just means that now, we are stuck with it while the rest of the world has moved on to USB-C, but personally, I am not that bothered. Everything is wireless these days. I also have a USB-C to lightning cable so I can charge my iPhone from my iPad Pro.

Otherwise, I haven't really plugged anything into my iPhone recently and it doesn't really bother me what port it has. Heck, I probably would be able to get by with it not having a charging port even...

Steve jobs would turn in his grave

If Steve Jobs 'turned' in his grave every time such a comment is made on Macrumors, he would have rolled all the way to Mexico by now.....

Why people get tizzy about a launch so far away and what may or may not be true, is beyond comprehension. If when it comes out and you don't like it, don't buy it.

The camera is where it is because when you hold the phone in your left hand and use the volume button as a trigger, you are guaranteed not to be covering the upper left corner.
if you search online or ask around, there are 1000s of complaints and examples where fingers accidentally partially covers the camera lens because of it's awkward corner location.it was less issue with small single lens but a growing problem with huge X series lens.

are you really trying to pretend the center triple camera location of S10 series results in worse ergonomics/photo results? because that's just ridiculous.
even so, they can still do a better design with triple lens in corner..why should it look so huge and out of place like an eye-patch? why can't it be something like Huawei flagships maybe..

the point is there is absolutely no necessity for the triple lens camera to look like this horrendous "leak" renders.

Design is how it works, not what it looks like.
who said that? you couldn't be less accurate on terminology & word meanings..
design is how something looks AND works both combined.
Apple was famous for it's excellent designs..products like iMac,(first few iPhones until 5S),certain iPads (including the latest Pro line),12" Macbook,Macbook Air original..these are few examples of excellent, unique designs.
they look iconic and fantastic and work equally good.

but there are cases where their aesthetic part of the design is simply flawed, lazy and bad.
this iPhone 11 thing is the biggest example..
the notch is another example (but much less significant as they had to put extra lenses for face ID etc)..
the ugly antenna bars on iPhone 6 is another example (you say design is how it works, tell me how come with iPhone 7 it also "works" yet the ugly antenna bands of iPhone 6 could be removed all the sudden?? it was just lazy and bad design with the 6 series..simple.

same is happening with the notch and with this gigantic hump eye-patch lenses of next iPhone.
few years later they will magically resolve botch notch and the eye patch lump, the problem is Samsung and others have ALREADY solved the issue by a superior ,more precise engineering and design.

It was 3 years in a row actually. iPhone X was a new design and was introduced next to the iPhone 8.

Sure, but it doesn't take away the fact he made it 4 times. The iPhone 8 is the 4th iteration of the same design. He could've also sold the iPhone X for the 8 price and not make the 8 at all.

Oh so you mean that it is only a new design if it is in the same price range ?

No, the iPhone X is still a new design. But I'm saying the 8 is just a recycled 6. So the iPhone 6 was made 4 times, no matter how you look at it. If the rumors are true and a new iPhone will be released with a similar body, it's the 5th time it's made, no matter what price point.

It’s a phone that sits in your pocket or purse when not in use out and about. Why are people being so vain over what the back of it looks like? You stare at the screen not the back so I can understand complaints about the notch.

If this phone is packed with speedy chips and a camera setup that is getting comparable to an SLR, it will sell like crazy. I’ll be trading in my 8-plus if it exceeds my expectations.

Apple worked hard as hell to move that connective hardware to the outside of iPhones and into the Lightning cable: they are notoriously obsessive about the foreign components included on iPhone's logic board. Plus, like it or not, lightning is technically a more advanced and more flexible connector that reduces the internal complexity of iPhone. I'd say that is the biggest hold up here.

Considering the iPad Pro required additional chips (e.g. the PI3DPX1205A) on the logic board to support USB-C video out, I'd say you'll be holding your breath for quite awhile waiting for iPhone to get USB-C.

Read what the heck I was responding to. The question was why they went to lightning back when they did.

And you are not the forum police. I’ll defend apple if I want to and when I want to.

But why is usb-c so important for you?
Why? Because I will be buying a new MacBook. And it only has USB-C. This is the result of Apple's stupid decision to abruptly switch to USB-C on MacBook without any legacy ports. So I guess you should ask Apple and not me "Why USB-C is so important to you (Apple)?"

Should we believe you, or, I dunno, Steve ****ing jobs?

“People think it's this veneer – that the designers are handed this box and told, “Make it look good!” That's not what we think design is. It's not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.” - Steve Jobs

Force touch would be a big loss for me.
And if they add a third camera I would greatly have preferred telephoto to ultrawide.

Guess we will find out.

same here. i use it a lot more than i even know))
i'm honestly all set with the camera, if they improve the low light mode - it would suffice.

Macs used to only have MagSafe ports and I didn’t see everyone bitching and moaning about iPhones not having MagSafe connectors.

But then it only became fashionable to rip apple for nothing recently.

I think it’s safe to say at this point that we ARE looking at the 2019 iPhones. It’s almost May. We’ve been seeing these rumors since last year. These leaks/rumors happen every single year, like clockwork.

I just don’t get what some of you are expecting. The formula Steve Jobs used is still being used today. It’s impossible to say what he would / wouldn’t do.

Not really a fan of the square grouping of the triple-camera. I would rather have the triple cameras all in a single file row.

People didn't moan because it was unrealistic on a phone. The notebook was heavy back when Apple released MacBook Pro 2006. It was 2.4kg or 5.6lb. The lightest Mac with MagSafe was MacBook Air 11" at 1.08kg or 2.38 lb. iPhone at most weight 208g or 7.3oz. A magnet like that won't just pop off the iPhone. It will pull the whole phone to the ground. People figured this out. It was never a good argument. Why can't you?

Let me get this straight. Majority of the time you interact with your iPhone, you’re holding it. Majority of the time you interact with your phone, you’re looking at it.

Yet, you have a problem with Face ID? Lol. It’s extremely fast and doesn’t require you to do anything extra than what you’re already used to doing. Sure there are times where it might be annoying to unlock and also obvious that you’re using your phone when you maybe shouldn’t be be. But overall, it isn’t a difficult transition from TiD to FiD.

And for everyone else... Do you stare at the back of your phone all day? How is this square patch on the BACK of the phone making you question whether or not you’ll buy it?

It’s ok to be picky and critique, but some of you really just hate Apple for other reasons which makes you just hate everything they do, even if it’s irrational. It’s kinda sad. I’m glad that I can use my devices happily and freely.

You don't have to stare at the back of a phone to appreciate a clean design. Not saying that this design is good or bad, but it is a totally valid reason for someone to not buy it because they don't like how the back of the phone looks. Heck, nearly all the phones out there nowadays look identical from the front anyways.

As for the FaceID vs TouchID argument, theres plenty of threads on that topic already. Bottom line is that there are trade-offs with the switch. It is perfectly valid to still want a TouchID over FaceID due to those trade offs. I am sure you are well aware of those trade-offs.

tldr: nothing irrational here.

The point is that saying “other apple devices use a different port than iphone, so iphone should change” is asinine. Each device should use the best port for that device.

It was about this rumor. The decision to still use lightning. Nobody cares about the iPhone from back then. People who read this thread are interested in iPhone XI not iPhone 5. I am not a police. It's pointless to label me as one. You asked me to stop. I asked you to stop. That's fair. I didn't label you as a police, did I?

exactly, people love to complain online, like you, but in real life they buy these devices
"This is not Apple design" started with iphone 5 two tone colour
People still use it even if after 4-5 years they are proven wrong, and this is Apple design
So stop complain and buy, you know you will get over it
It's actually worse than that. People just don't seem to care about the design or aesthetic look of their phone regardless of how much Apple claims that form and function are both equally important. Customers aren't jumping ship from Apple even though Apple's designs have changed very little or gotten any positive reviews over the past few years. This might be good for Apple's sales and customer lock-in but it actually undermines their philosophy and lowers their brand value down to the level of a no name Chinese phone maker.

The point is that saying “other apple devices use a different port than iphone, so iphone should change” is asinine. Each device should use the best port for that device.
Yes, I agree. We should allow them to run at full potential. The point is back then iPhone can connect to MacBook via USB-A. Now it can't. What can you say to that?
