Gosh! too ugly - What is happening to Apple? Where is the creative thing other than eMoji innovation?
I'm taking this with a grain of salt since we're still six month away from Apple announcing new iPhone models.
With that said, that camera is seriously ugly. I don't care if it takes better pictures than my Sony mirrorless camera. I'll stick with my Xs if this is what Apple introduces in September. Or *GASP* go with the S10e.

At what point do we begin to have diminishing returns on the quality of the camera on a phone?
just make the whole back a bump so the camera is flush. I'd rather have a thicker phone anyway. I always use a case but for those that don't this thing is hideous LOL

So you care more about the back of the device that you never see than having DSLR quality pictures. People with your level of vanity are why the society has become so superficial.
My guess is the triangular arrangement is optimal for merging image elements from multiple lenses. They could at least center it so the phone doesn’t wobble so much when used on a desk.

It seems when shockingly hideous rendered images come out on rumors sites of what might be.... we just cannot believe that to be in our dreams at night...but then Apple do the unbelievable and make the dream a reality.....a lumpy gross product we have to pay more or less a 1000 bucks for. Wtf are they doing at spaceship headquarters?

So if only the iPhone XI/11 Max (or Plus) gets something new/meaningful to differentiate it from the Xs Max and the regular XI looks identical to the X and Xs, what’s the incentive for a X owner to upgrade this year?
what results? are you really delusional and think iPhones cameras are the best in business?
even a quick browsing of comparison tests on models so far will show you other phone manufacturers (Samsung,Google,...)are producing superior or similar “results” to iPhone cameras.
Why you think this hideous, eye-patch design fail is gonna make results better than others is beyond me

Judging from the pic I'd say it's already under EVT stage, which means this is what we gonna get in September.

the point is,the design and shape of the camera lens has nothing to do with the picture quality.
as usual,other brands (Samsung,Google,Huawei,..)will make their own cameras that will NOT look this hideous that will have better or similar quality.

Nice concept. I gotta say, the round-edge design has seriously overstated its welcome. I’d love to see the upcoming iPhone adopt the iPad Pro/SE design language.
And people claim the iPhone XR has ugly screen borders...
I think this square looks like the worst iPhone design element yet! But when I heard the reports years ago about the plans to move to multiple cameras and lenses, I knew it would end up like this, phones covered in them looking utterly ridiculous.
