Sure looks good with black bezel, but if the front is white for the silver/cooper model. You won't be able to blend it like the left image.

So for uniformity, they will just leave the notch all showing on all 3 models
Not if they make the front black on all models. But somehow I don't think they will. It'll be tough getting a black model.

I hope this new phone runs at 120Hz.

However... this is a 30fps video... so it's difficult to tell. :)

I would really like to see the Promotion display implemented into the new iPhone 8. A 120 HZ refresh rate would be a significant improvement, at least in terms from the new iPad Pro experience.

It doesn't matter that the video is in 30fps. I am very sensitive to the refresh rate so I definitely could tell the animation when he was going into the app was smoother than what I am used to on my iPhones. But...overall I am disappointed with this year's iPhones if the rumors come to be true...

I agree that it looks smooth.

But how is it even possible to show four frames in the space of every one frame in that video?

Answer... Magic!

I see no reason why they couldn't black out the "ears" for the time, wifi icons etc and then do the same at the bottom for the home button line along with things like the "back to app" button that currently sits at the top of the screen.

that's for me really, really ugly!!

Apple what's wrong with you?!
It's Macrumours, not Macofficial.

that cutout looks so terrible, will prob just get 7s if this ends up being the case
Lol. Interweb extreme opinion strikes again.

If you have no issue with the price, but the ears become THE deal breaker, then thanks for leaving more stock of the 8 for the rest of us :D

We will see then rumors shortly before the keynote have been until now always true!

I just don't why I'd pay £1000 for it? I can get a Galaxy S8 right now for £450. I'm not going to upgrade from a 6s to a 7s (or whatever they call it) and have the crap new iPhone. Obviously I want to upgrade to the the iPhone 8, otherwise I just feel crap about my purchasing decision and end up wanting the iPhone 8 still. However I'm not going to pay £1000 for a phone, I can get a good Laptop for that, I can build a good gaming PC for that, you can get a good 4K OLED TV for that.

So I'll just either stick with my 6s or go Android this time around, I mean Android has come a long way and OEM skins aren't the mess they used to be.

It looks fake...
It has 7 rows of apps, including the dock. Same as the 6s.
It should show 8 rows of apps, considering the additional screen on the top and the bottom.

BTW, I like the notch. For years now, we have been complaining about the big "chin" and "forehead" iphone has. Apple finally have a new design to address it and allow us to have as much screen "real estate" as possible, and now we have people complaining about it?! Doesn't make sense to me...
I will buy the iphone 8/ X / Edition / whatevernametheychoose the minute it is available (hopefully on the 22nd September in Dubai).

I can understand peoples worry about it as certain design decisions that could be taken would make it look a bit **** but we have no real idea how apple will address the chin and I personally think its a really cool and unique design. I'm looking forward to seeing how they tackle the challenge of replacing touchID and handling the top cutout.

Um. It definitely is fake, but the 6 rows of apps is not the reason. It will undoubtably have the same 6 rows of apps. Why? Because it is already borderline too congested with 6 rows. If it had 7 rows it would look terribly congested....

Here is a question. With the new "notch", cut-out thing at the top of the screen (if indeed this is the final design) how will you quickly scroll back up to the top of a page in Safari, or the top of your Inbox in mail?

An example; on a current iPhone, open the Mail app to your Inbox, scroll down a page or so. Now, tap the to of the screen in the middle, and your Mail app helpfully scrolls back up to the first message. Lovely.

If you instead tap in the top-left corner (where the Carrier icon is) then Mail drops back a screen, as though you had actually tapped on the "Mailboxes" icon just below that.

If you tap in the top-right corner (where the battery icon is) then Mail opens the "Edit" function, as though you had actually tapped on the "Edit" icon just below that.

Does this mean the stock apps will have to change behaviour, or the "scroll up" function won't work?

I am confused...

Spotted on Weibo.

I thought it was fake when first watching it, but going through it in slow motion makes it even more certain. First of all, that bar on the bottom was designed by some guy on Twitter based on the Bloomberg article. It has the exact same bar as the mockup design, same width, same colour, everything. So it was just copied and pasted from there. Second of all, there is no bar in the opened app, which would basically make it impossible to go back to the home screen. And lastly, but most importantly, the animation for opening the app is the iOS 10 animation, the iOS 11 animation is completely different.

Seeing all the iOS 11 icons, but using the iOS 10 animation, the copied home bar from Twitter and the home bar not being present in the opened app..... yes, it's very fake.

They could simply make the “notch” part of the bezel black, which I wouldn’t be surprised if they do regardless A9239690-8479-47FA-85CE-BB9A2F205900.png

I wonder if the cutout in the top of the screen is a design compromise like the headphone jack or a feature they decided to run with? It's an acquired taste I have to say. I'm not sure if a like it but that's the least of my worries with this phone. The interface is as expected, it's an iPhone lol.

Then get the S8 if you can get it for 450 GBP. The iPhone 8 will not be that much better to where it is worth more than double the price. You will still get an OLED screen, slim bezels, a high end camera, tons of software features, a good processor, plenty of RAM, quick charge, wireless charging, etc. That extra 550 is Apple Tax.

If you stick with the 6S, all you have is just iOS and 3D Touch. The 6S is already two years old, so that means the parts have gone through a ton of wear and tear. You can get a new Samsung 2 year warranty to go with your S8. Plus you can sell your 6S towards the S8.

Design compromise? The headphone jack was removed for more internal space so the iPhone X is possible.

The notch is specifically designed to get the maximal amount of screen space as possible.

Hope the top status bar is just completely black. Then will blend nicely into the bezel!!

This is the best solution for the ‘notch’ with an OLED display they might just hit the right level of ‘blackness’ to make it blend in almost seamlessly and still allow for the signal, battery and other system tray icons.
