Come on Apple, skip the Mini LED screen and go to the Micro LED screen technology or go full with OLED(cut down on battery life I know) screen. How about a modernized iPad Mini?

How are we still having this discussion in 2021? Just because it doesn’t work for your usage doesn’t mean it can’t work for others. I only use my MacBook Pro for school. Once I graduate, I don’t see myself ever using it again. My iPad is more than enough for what I need it for.
Since I'm bored I'll reply to this.

I said "I" don't see how folks make the iPad their "computer" like the only thing they use.

I get it, for those that only read and reply to emails, get on zoom calls, surf the web, check their bank accounts and what not but for me it is not enough.

My iMac is far better for my use. I have firefox, safari and chrome open each with at least 30 tabs open, photoshop, my trading platform running on windows. Plus I have another screen attached to the thing.

An iPad for me could never compensate. So for those that actually do multiple works an iPad will and never replace an actual computer.

I use my iPad just for media consumption. It's basically a mini TV for me. It's really meant for light use so again, the iPad can't replace an actual computer the way Apple like to say so thru their marketing.

You don’t see how YOU could make the iPad your primary computer. Apparently you do see how OTHERS can.

The prices will need to start below the starting prices of the new M1 MBA since the air blows it out of the water for less money. At this point the only iPad that makes sense is the iPad 8.

The iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard is simply badass. Have had my MKB for a week and I absolutely love it. Totally different machine now.
Agreed, it’s completely changed my experience of using my 11” 2020 iPad Pro. I barely ever touch my MacBook Pro now unless there’s specific specialized software I need to use.

Sorry guys, but the real next gen iPad is coming in 2022. This one here is just a placeholder tbh.

Mini-LED is nice and all but the OLED iPads are where it’s at (or will be).

OLED on the iPad would be a mistake. Burn-in becomes a real issue and with a screen that size, noticeable.

I am still hoping for a 11.6 to 12 inch iPad Pro. The 12.9 is not portable enough for me , and the 11 inch is just a little bit too small .

I guess it will never happen.

So other than a faster processor, which iPadOS nor my workflow can take advantage of, the new iPad Pro won’t be the monumental upgrade from my 2018 12.9” was from the 2017 iPad Pro. Will look the same essentially. Only thing I wish was for more RAM, but I haven’t encountered too many problems yet with RAM other a few demanding anatomy apps for school.

Honestly, the real winners are the 2020 iPad Pro owners since their iPads will appear to be in distinguishable and they got the RAM boost. Assuming this rumor is true.

Apple has far surpassed the diminishing point of returns on iPad hardware. 2018 was the peak. To get those 2 years to upgrade in year 3 it is going to need some major software improvements, especially in light of the M1 Macs.

The 2018 pro's already have True Tone, 120Hz, A12X (Fast enough for every iPad app on the App Store and more), 4GB RAM (Again, enough for every iPad app in the store to operate normally), Apple Pencil support, keyboard/trackpad, USB-C. More than enough for any "pro" iPad user, and way over the top for any normal consumer.

To be honest, if apple slightly changes the dimensions of the 2021 pro I won't buy it, because their ridiculous $300 keyboard then becomes device specific again, and they are just trying to grab more $$$ on accessories.

They definitely last longer now, except for those needing more RAM for their use-case. Multitasking quickly gets painful with too little RAM.
For me, I was never a frequent upgrader but this year I'm looking to upgrade an Air 2 to the new Pro 11 so my wallet is ready.

I hope they’d don’t shave off just enough to make it no longer compatible with the current magic keyboard!
They'll move the magnets due to "physical change" and component move around (camera modules shift slightly, new speaker setup).

Introducing the Magic Keyboard 2021.
Now with...........

function keys!

Shaving off 1mm and wrecking compatibility with millions of existing accessories is immoral.

Committ to a meaningful redesign, or leave the exterior specs are they are.

No-one, anywhere, ever, got excited over 1mm.
Think of the shareholders and accessories manafactuers. Why won't anyone think about the shareholders?!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO Why does apple have to increase thickness
THINNER IS ALWAYS BETTER!!!!! I want iPad to be thinner, not a thick piece of crap

Also the camera bump is not a problem at all if it means significantly better camera quality. Apple needs to revamp the entire iPad Pro rear camera system - there needs to be Portrait mode for the rear camera and the crappy 10MP ultrawide lens is inferior quality. Also the biggest headache is that LiDAR does not even work magically like my iPhone 12 Pro Max to enable night mode portraits and it's just not integrated well enough to help the other two lenses.
How structurally weak do you want it to be though? It's been shown the new design is already easy to deform. You need a solid frame to hold a big piece of glass especially when you make holes in it for a magnet, microphone and speakers.

Oh and space to put a huge battery.

Apple really should really put some bracing inside the casing.
