This isn't directed at you per se but rather in general for everyone who has expressed an opinion about the color.

I believe, and I could be wrong, but the people who are rolling their eyes over the color isn't because of the color but rather the fact that it's so obvious that it's meant to drive sales because if the phone was released as-is, it would be nearly identical to the 5, which is why the 5c replacing the 5 rumor makes sense. If you are excited over the gold color, great, but please don't make it more than just about color, recognize you're buying last year's tech, just in a new color. The color is the killer feature.

No. Wow, I don't even know where to begin to respond to you. Its probably not worth the time anyway. But apparently, the ONLY way to update a product is to completely change the physical design?

Some of you are so superficial its insane. You're arguing that the ONLY thing making this "new" is the color (which couldn't be any more false), yet at the same time thinking this isn't a true update because it will have the same enclosure as the iPhone 5.

You couldn't contradict yourself more if you tried. Jesus. The tech-buying community just gets more and more ignorant with each passing day.

Samsung: Oh..We are working on a gold cell phone too! Like..for so long. :)
As it becomes inevitable that we'll have a blingy "gold" iphone, it only makes sense to begin defending Apple.

Where did the person say it was the "ONLY" way to update a product? Slow down and take a breather, buddy... you'll shorten your lifespan getting all worked up like that.

I remember last year, around this time, there seemed to be a sharp divide between those who accepted the iPhone 5 back (based on leaked photos), and others who just kept typing, "Never! No!! Where's Steve??? It's so ugly". and so on.

Here we are again. A month from now, this champagne iPhone will hit the stores and it will likely be a charming success. It's not going to be bling-bling/rapper gold; we can be sure of that. But it will appeal to Asian and Middle Eastern markets, no doubt.

It will probably also help distinguish the iPhone as a premium phone (at least in construction) over competitors like Samsung and HTC. It's not quite luxury, but it will be beautiful to those who want a classy looking phone. In Asia, it's not so uncommon to see girls (and boys) using white iPhones; it's often a more common color. Outside of the US market, the color black isn't necessarily cool and sleek, it's also a color of mourning, and it's attached to other less uplifting connotations that outweigh the color's "coolness."

So I guess then the Moto X isn't innovative either. :D

If you're referring to the customisation options, then no it really isn't innovative to be able to choose a shell colour and a 'theme'. They're hedging their bets on that one too by only allowing AT&T customers to use the customisation service initially.

Well, I see the point he's trying to make.

Let's look at what happened in the past year or two in the non-iPhone, smartphone world. Well, in addition to faster processors and retina screens, they're getting bigger and bigger (Galaxy S3, then Galaxy S4, HTC One, etc. as typical examples). They've got features like NFC, better cameras, expandable memory cards, some are even waterproof like the new Sony Xperia series. Some have 1080p HD screens.

So that's the competition. What's Apple doing? Well..... they made the iPhone 5 taller, but seem to be insisting that customers don't want a bigger phone. They haven't really added any new features other than maybe a slightly better camera and a processor spec bump. And... that's it?

So Android is taking over market share, Android customers are falling over themselves buying up bigger and bigger phones, and meanwhile here's Apple insisting, no no no, people don't want those, they don't want bigger phones, they want our new iPhones... now available in gold!

I think people are upset with this move because if Apple truly thinks that this is what the market wants -- a same size, spec-bumped phone with a new color option -- then they are in for a surprise.

But hey, I'll give Apple the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they're right. They'll still sell a gazillion iPhone 5S/6's, just because it's Apple. I'll probably get one, since my iPhone 4 is due for an upgrade and I'm not sure I'm ready to switch to Android.

That is what they said....Maybe slow down, read, and comprehend.

Although it isn't something I would buy, I'm sure Apple will make this look as nice as gold can look on a phone. They wouldn't do it unless they thought it would look good and sell.

I really don't get the obsession with color. Pretty much everyone I know of likes to keep their iPhone in a case anyway. So you get multiple cases colors and doesn't really matter as much what the base color of the phone is. Maybe the front color, white or slate, but not the back or sides.

Why?

is the color of phone generating so much discussion. I mean who cares. If you like it buy it. If you don't like it don't buy it.

Hey, Android users!

So what if you have a 5" screen and NFC and a microSD card slot in your phone?

Mine's GOLD!

Take that!

You do realize this is gold color and not real gold? You know like black, white, red, yellow, gold

Or did you actually think apple was going to use real gold to make the next iPhone?

Iretards will line right up thinking this phone is real gold lol

I was thinking; I actually really like the color, and would get one...but would I ever see it? I can't imagine not having my iPhone in a case - it's just too fragile. So, the parts that are colored would be behind the case. At first glance, you could just get a champagne case for any phone if you wanted that (and you know there'll be more of such cases made if they make an iPhone in that color), but I think it wouldn't look as good on reflective rubber or plastic, as it would on the aluminum.

TL;DR: The casing color may not matter much, no matter what it is.

She will thank him in her own personal way! #

Well, while there are better ladies around its always good to be in that conditions.

Color but no NFC,No Siri...etc..thanks no.
Maybe this time an old 5 would be the right choice.

The people that post here are idiots.
If it is a light champaign color then it looks really cool.

If you don't like the color then buy the black or white one...

Why does everyone jump on the bandwagon and say nice innovation as a joke when Apple does anything? It's a color.
Apple has amazing designs, so I'll never question them in that respect
