No. Wow, I don't even know where to begin to respond to you. Its probably not worth the time anyway. But apparently, the ONLY way to update a product is to completely change the physical design?

Some of you are so superficial its insane. You're arguing that the ONLY thing making this "new" is the color (which couldn't be any more false), yet at the same time thinking this isn't a true update because it will have the same enclosure as the iPhone 5.

You couldn't contradict yourself more if you tried. Jesus. The tech-buying community just gets more and more ignorant with each passing day.

It shows how desperate some people are for others to know they've got the latest gadget. So if the case doesn't look different then the phone is not new, even if pretty much everything on the inside is. And even if Apple came out with a 5" phone people would say its not innovative as Android phones have been that size for years.

I don't understand why people say Gold is for Asia. Where the hell did you get such notion??? Gold is for black people, clearly.

Sometimes it's embarrassing to be a apple fan. Some of you sound like idiots.

Gold is for Asians.
Gold is for black people.
Gold is for Arabs.

Blah! I'm not a fan of the colored metal on white look. Don't like it on the iPod touches, and certainly don't like it on the iphone. I dunno, it just looks tacky & cheap. If the whole thing was a colored brushed metal, that might be cool....but not the white glass against the color. No. My feeling is that if you want bright flashy colors, just get a bright flashy cover for your iphone.

But that's just me.

If some like a champagne/gold fine. But I plan on getting the classic white model.

I would take a clear glass iphone so you could see the inside electronics over a gold iphone any day.

With the poly iPhone being put up to debut, Apple foresees that the lineup needed strong product differentiation for the mid to long-term.

The 'metallic' iPhones makes 100% logical marketing, especially for certain target audiences like women and the international market.

Although, I do believe some big features will be left out of the poly iPhones, I do believe Apple may have done a different business model plan utilizing a more affluent cloud based system for the low end phone with lower flash storage to curtail the market. The hardware/software will stick kick@ss and be superior, but I believe Apple completely went back to the drawing board for this iPhone, and we may see a different business plan customized for it.

At some point in the future, when discussing Apple products, this phone will be
the butt of jokes. History will not be kind to such a tacky product. Only older women, posers and those who use possessions to pump up their egos will be willing to part with their cash for this gaudy accessory.

You think NFC matters when ios7 brings in airdrop? AirDrop is so much better.

Actually, NFC matters to those who live in or regularly visit markets where it's a standard payment option, like London and parts of Europe. Adoption is growing and I'll be disappointed if Apple doesn't add it down the line.

As for the gold, I don't care for it. I was hoping to see the color selection available in the ipod touch line, but it seems like that's going to the 5c. As long as they don't do away with the black 5s, I'm happy.

New game, count the stuck up daddy's girls walking around with a new gold iPhone. They might as well be wearing a sign that says, "Expensive and high maintenance" when they pick this one up. I'm sticking to my Johnny Cash special iPhone. Yes, look it up.

Culturally, bright metallic colors are the only consistent color scheme that notes a positive emotional reaction worldwide. It almost universally symbolizes wealth, good fortune and strength. Hence the term "gold standard" used in many places.

Frankly, I'm surprised that it took this long for Apple to come up with a metallic colored iPhone. I'd love to see silver, titanium or cobalt blue.

BREAKING NEWS!

The gold model will come with contractual obligations to gold plate every item you own; from your Ford Fiesta to the retinas in your eyeballs.

champagne colored anything (cars, phone, etc) is the ugliest color. if there is more of a goldish color then i guess it'll look ok.

I disagree. I think it's more the shiny, brassy brighter deep gold they love.
Not the champagne.

OK. Whatever you say.

(Chinese Geely for Chinese market. Obvious fail b/c it's not the shiny, brassy color Chinese love, but champaign instead..)

Oh god, I kinda like it.

What is wrong with me?

Nothing. People have insecurities that the can only seem to cope with by trying to bring others down to their level.

My credit cards have NFC in them for payment. I don't see what having it on my phone offers.
