Just got the black and silver Alumacases and here are my initial impressions. So far, both fit very nicely and I am not getting any reception issues. Although having no lock button is a little inconvenient, my index finger can still reach it. Overall, I am really impressed with the case and highly recommend it.

Can we please get some test results on the following features.

1. GPS
2. Compass
3. WiFi

Just got my new yellow alumacase today. It is so sleek and I really like the feel of the phone now. I used the phone all day today and the gps once and no problems so far. I have included 2 pics.

Looks quite nice, def. a color that stands out

How are people getting this so quickly? I was under the impression that most orders are just getting their status changed to shipping/shipped. Speaking of which, how is the flat rate shipping going out? USPS? UPS? FedEx?

Looks like it's not a back film, but instead is an entire replacement back panel. You replace your glass rear panel with this.

Yeah, I kept googling and there are other websites that sell colored (all colors) metallic back plate replacements for around $19.99, similar to that ebay auction. If it is a back plate replacement, know that the inner components maybe missing, such as camera lens and flash diffuser, which is notoriously absent in the convert to White iPhone services/parts.

Order 208, vampiric red (changed from the grey) with back, also changed to shipped today - but since I'm on the east coast it'll probably be a few days.

Wow, I didn't realize the Red was such popular color choice! Every other post is about getting the Red...

Well, I already have a bumper in black, the body glove in blue etc, so figured I should get something in red - though granted my atomic is in red/black when and if I ever receive it.

Suppose if I ever actually get the call from vapor I'll do a silver/blue :)

As a couple other people asked previously, I'd still like to know what the inside is lined with (if anything).

Can one of you early adopters give the rest of us a bit more of a review. ie. lining or no and what it is? How difficult or easy is it to press the buttons, especially the sleep/wake? How is the cutout for the dock connector?

Thanks guys.

ordered monday.... vampiric red - shipped today #343

Hmmm, interesting! I have Order No. 215 and my Status is Still Awaiting Fulfillment. I wonder what's taking my order so long? Although mine is international shipping, I'm just wondering why my order number was skipped and hasn't changed status yet. Really excited to get mine and the suspense is killing me!

I wonder if it is a case of Alumacase shipping certain colours first. Seems like a lot of confirmations on red. I ordered Shadow Grey and no ship confirm for me yet....mine is also shipping international. Anxious to get it though, not loving the apple bumper.

Can someone who has gotten theirs please post a picture of what the inside looks like, I want to see how they handled the padding of the interior.

I seem to recall Alumacase saying that no lining was necessary, since it was designed differently than the other aluminum cases (it grips the front and back, rather than the antenna)...but I could be wrong on that.

Look forward to receiving mine to check it all out. Pics so far look great!

This is how they described the case on the site.

"Alumacase iPhone cases utilize advanced engineering to ensure that the actual case only contacts the outer edge of the glass; this prevents actively closing the circuit upon human touch -- an effect that leads to signal degradation. In addition, the inner lining of Alumacase iPhone cases suspends the stainless antenna in an air cushion to eliminate physical human contact."

The case has a piece of rubber/foam in each corner. The cutouts are very easy to get too for the sleep wake/ volume and I have been able to use my car charger and bose headphones without a problem. They obviously spent a lot of time designing this case because everything so far seems to work great:).Also I know someone asked about the compass and the seems to work as well.

Excellent update! Just what I wanted to hear :) Now I'm even more anxious to get mine :D

since the case only touches the glass would it make it more prone to break the glass if bumped or dropped ?

hmmm...are YOU alumacase? lol

Design question

I've been on the Alumacase website but it doesn't have that much detail about the design - I notice that the bottom third of tha case is separate from the rest.
Is that bottom third easily removable or is it screwed to the other part of the case??
Any help appreciated, thanks
