just a thought, the new models were rumored to incorporate a 16:9 aspect ratio. can anyone here using photoshop verify if the resolution in the picture is indeed 16:9? that might help some

You wanna prove a rumor by using another rumor? Well... good luck.

What about GPS? A camera?

People laugh at the idea of GPS and a camera on the touch because they simply see it as a music player and nothing else. Had apple marketed the touch as a pda it wouldn't seem so silly.

Me personally I wanted the screen stretched. Not the entire thing just the screen and home button moved to the side.

Apple needs to worry about cutting the weight down on the notebooks instead of thinness. They made them heavier which is what I do not understand

You know, Tuesday is my day off and I like to take it easy and relax. The last few weeks I have spent the entire day on MR getting all excited for a new release. Tuesday night is spent randomly looking at MR with Wednesday morning being a very tired and disappointing affair. I'm so sad

Same here, except rewind a day due to the time zone difference. I feel pathetic. But at least I'm not alone! :D

A stretched screen would make for an obsurd looking aspect ratio, and while you could just make it play video at the present ratio, youd get a ton of people who dont understand asking why apple has "crippled" its full screen capabilities.

Please! No. That laptop is WAY too thin. Just think of the heat issues, as if the MBA wasn't enough.

I myself want a THICKER MB and MBP, like the iBook and Powerbook G4 thicknesses. Then we can dump the outdated specs, heat issues, and poor cooling systems once and for all.

I agree that Apple's product line is too limited and that the MBP is in need of an update hence the speculation of new models.

But you make it sound as if the MBP is very average. Just exactly what specs are so outdated that weren't high-end when the MBP was updated in February. Other than going to a desktop CPU version, and a desktop GPU, what updates is Apple so behind on. Montevina, slightly faster penryns, blu-ray, SSD, and updated GPUs are the only thing on the table at the moment.

I personally wish the Touch were simply marketed as a PDA. It's what I want.

Well, you asked for it. Just read my post here. Don't forget that both of the HP's are much better than the Macbook specwise.

People can always argue that Mac OS X is worth paying double the cost for what their hardware is worth. But they can't argue the fact that Apple's hardware is double the price.
Yeah. I'd be OK with Apple's premium prices if they gave you top-notch components, but the truly insulting part is the combination of ludicrous prices AND mediocre components. And the real fun begins when you start adding options. When I bought my iMac 24" last year I wanted 4 GB RAM. Of course, buying the RAM straight from the computer vendor is never a good idea, they often charge twice the street price for RAM, but Apple didn't stop there: They wanted SIX TIMES the street price, nearly 7000 SEK for 4 GB RAM (I later bought it separately for 1200 SEK).

I believe Apple was scared to market the Touch as a PDA because of the so called Newton failure.

also because, its not a PDA.

It is first and foremost a PMP, that happens to have the potential for PDA functions.

Compare the prices and specs of a 17" MBP to this HP (customized) and tell me that. Or, if you really want a nice laptop for $1450, check out this Gateway. EDIT: Make that $1250; looks like Best Buy lowered the price.

You start to realize that the only thing the MBP has to offer is "thinness", and that doesn't make it a "Pro", does it?

Marketing schmarketing, the Touch is a PDA. It out-PDA's every PDA I've ever owned. ;)

Yeah, I just wish it had GPS and a camera, and was slightly thicker. Then it would be perfect. I got the speakers and the volume controls, but missed out on those two critical features.

can you please explain how those two are "critical" in any way? (besides your personally preferance)

Because most other PDA's have them, and they're very useful in those other PDA's. Even my Dad's 7-year old Palm PDA has a 1MP camera.

It seems so like a PDA. It just needed those two features.

 I have nothing but hate for that HORRIBLY DESIGNED POS. (i own a 6000)

If people think that the MB had serious design issues, i suggest spending a year with this laptop. Youll be making out with your MB when you return to it.

haha so funny:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I think if they dropped the superdrive i'd just buy a refurbished or clearance model, cause honestly I like many still have hundreds of dvds which I enjoy to take along with me to school and road trips. And as tempting as a detached disc drive is to some I'm going to pass, it kind of goes against the Apple philosophy of "Less wires, Less Clutter" but then again the Air must of forgotten all about this idea that the iMac forewarned

Two possibilities:

1) The picture is authentic and the digital camera is from 1997 and has vaseline on the lens.

2) The picture is fake and the ridiculous degradation was done to mask imperfections in the montage.

hey the camera is an iphone so...
it sucks:D
